HandyAndy888
Hello, Just wondering if you can adjust the carbies/timing/anything else during a service.... I know nothing about engines/carbs, so I'm just wondering if I can take it to a dealer and say "check the timing please, or, adjust the carby please"....that may make my baby go better...any help appreciated. AND, if so, how much does this sort of thing usually cost???
airborneXX
3000 miles change the oil 6000 miles change the oil and tires Continue this routine for 200,000 miles With the carbs the only thing I've done is synchronize, and I've never done the timing. The manual says nothing about checking the timing on any kind of regular basis. Valve clearance inspection is recommened every 16,000 miles. HandyAndy888
Synchronising...thats it...is it difficult to do? What about valve clearances, how much is the expected charge from a dealer? I want my spaceship to run even better and I think its due for some sort of service after 74K..
K9XX
I synched the carbs when I jetted at 6K miles. I'm right at 30K now and haven't looked at them since jetting. A can of Seafoam here and there and a regular flogging is all she needs

Sychronizing is easy just get yourself a set of mercury sticks and RTFM Last I heard it was around $300 for valve inspection, but I don't know if that included any adjustments. I'll do my own when the time comes, maybe this winter if I have nothing better to do. Between the manual and the folks around here I'm sure I can git 'r dun.
