SS brake lines which ones?

It's been too long since I installed my lines for me to remember all the details. I do seem to remember two blocks bolted together and one came off with the lines. Mine's a 2000.

Hi Jim,

I just went out to take a closer look at my 97 and here are more updated

info:

it seems that on stock brakes:

- the brake line goes from right side master cyclinder (MC) to a metal block

- from this metal block, it goes to the right front brake

- also from this metal block, a metal line goes to the left side metal block

(and it seems that this left side metal block is bolted to aonther metal block

on the left side?)

- from this left side metal block, another brake line goes to the left front brake

(there is another metal block on both left and right side with another metal line

and I think that's for the rear brake)

So could you take a look at your bike and confirm that after you installed

your Galfer lines:

- the right side metal block was removed?

- the metal line that goes from right side metal block to left side metal block was removed?

- the left side metal blockwas removed?

- Now you should still have a single metal block on the right side?

- and a single metal line still goes from right to left?

- there is still a single left side metal block?

THanks again!

I have one metal block remaining on the left side. It has a metal line running to the proportioning valve. The are no metal blocks on the right side. The new lines run from the M/C on the handlebar to the top position on each caliper.

Just do the following when you get your lines.

1) Remove your front fender. (Not really required, but it's easier this way.)

2) Remove the cover on the M/C and siphon the fluid out. (Use your Mity-Vac or a turkey baster.)

3) Disconnect the upper lines from each front caliper.

4) Disconnect the line at the M/C and let the lines drain.

5) Remove the lines you just disconnected and all the blocks and hard lines that go with them.

6) Install your new lines using the new washers and banjo bolts from the kit. (Don't over torque the bolts.)

7) Fill your M/C reservor with new DOT 4 brake fluid from an unopened can and bleed your system.

8) Reinstall the front fender.

It's as easy as that. Things are a little hard to see until you dig into it, but the change out is really very simple. You'll see.
