XX running a little "off **UPDATE** Sunoco gas???

Since I've got 30K miles on this set of iridium CR9EHIX-9 plugs it's probably my problem.

Roll on power just seems weak, not really missing or anything, just weak from 3k-7k RPM. Like a bad tank of gas.

I've never really got a deffinate answer on how long I can run these plugs so the mileage kept going up.

I've got the plugs coming from Chaparral, $7 each.

If I replace them, and STILL have the problem I'll have to go searching.

Well my plugs arrived Saturday, only 3 days from Cali. Got to love the US Mail.

I'm thinking I got a bad tank of gas because when I filled up, most of the problem went away.

I still put the plugs in, I geuss 30k is a good interval, I can live with that.

The old plugs showed no rounding off of the electrodes and looked fine. Got to wait till the roads dry to test ride and see if there's a difference.

My bike suddenly ran rough, and gets really bad gas mileage. It's been through 3 tanks of gas and it still continues. So I think back....when did I change my plugs last? Oh, 46k Miles. Hmmm, perhaps it's time :] Is the best way still to move the rad forward?

Is the best way still to move the rad forward?

Only if you really want to work hard. Going in through the top is much easier. Carlos had a step-by-step instruction on the old forum and I think Warchild has a procedure on his site. Check it out.

Well my problem still continues.

I went in and shimmed the carb needles with a .025 washer, big improvement! Worried my mileage will drop though.

I'm thinking the gas is to blame. it's making the bike run leaner.

Your plugs might not fix it. I'm glad to hear someone else is having this problem.

I change the plugs from the top, removing the tank and airbox.

I thought doing it from the top was the way the manual suggested, and that it was faster to tip the rad forward. Doesn't going through the top mean you have to remove the tank, airbox, and plastic shield in front? (or am I confusing the valve check)

IIRC the manual tells you to remove the fairings and tip the radiator, etc.

I've changed the plugs from the top twice and it is pretty straightforward. You do tip or remove the tank (two bolts) and the airbox. Check out the procedure with pics on Warchild's web site.

Is anyone else having problems with Sunoco gas???

I'm actually going to drain my tank today of the Sunoco and use it for the mower.

I get no roll on power when I use it. This is the second tank, first one was when I started this post. I usually use Sheetz and have no problems.

On STN they said that Sunoco has methanol in it and it causes lean running.

That is all I have used in years. No trouble here.

I forget, are you carbed? Jetting changes? Exaust? What's your MPG?

All I know is that this is the second time I filled up at Sunoco with a few tanks of Sheetz in between, and the bike immediately starts running bad.

I did drain it out yesterday, filled at Sheetz, ride, and within 10 miles, all is back to normal.

Shell works fine also for me.

97, K&N jet kit, Yosh slip-on's, couldn't care less about mpg, never checked it. To tell you the truth (not blowing my own horn) but this bike has to be the best running carbed vehicle that I have ever owned. No flat spots or hickups anywhere.
