Byrdman
So Herb, You only made three slight changes to the shim stack? I have an extra XX rear shock as well, I might perform the same surgery as you did.
HERBXX
I figure i added 10 or 15 percent to the rebound for the heavier 1100lb spring , took a liitle off the compression.( i can add a bit more with the adjuster) Remember i rebuilt the stack inside a the f4i shock !!! I used silkolene rsf 7.5 oil.( equals showa 10 or ss 8) I didn't want to change the stack too much as changing the oil and to the f4 shock with the compression adjuster will have some effect. Once i ride it i will most likely make more adjustements. I also lapped the piston faces to promote sealing. As far as i can tell the piston in the f4 shock and xx is the same . So if you got an f4 shock and some thick shims you could leave your xx shock alone . The f4 shock is 1/2 inch shorter than the xx shock. You need to make a top perch so you can use standard 2.25 X 6 springs (see my pics in other posts) Herb my old post with pics http://cbr.geckobox.net/forum/viewtopic.ph...6625&highlight=
