AXXKicker
whenever i drive over gravel or stones, especially at lower speeds, the rocks that the tire picks up make a very unusual sound (in my opinion) as they get skipped off of the underside of the front fender. i know that the fender is just plastic, and that this is bound to happen, but i've been thinking of ways to stop it (it just disturbs me that it sounds cheap). so i came up with the idea of hitting the underside of the fender with rubberized spray undercoating, just like you'd use on a car. this will cushion the fender from thrown debris and prevent small stones and gravel from making those scraping sounds. can anyone here think of any drawbacks to this solution? aside from being careful about overspray, i am inclined to think that this would work pretty well. Involute
It's easier to wear ear plugs. :poke: It sounds like a good idea but I would wonder if small rocks would stick to it if it heats up and gets tacky.
hillbillyxx
It sounds like a good idea but I would wonder if small rocks would stick to it if it heats up and gets tacky. Since some people here claim that black is the fastest color would black undercoating underneath the fender increase top speed?
The Krypt Keeper
I hate that sound also, But look at on the bright side.. the more rocks it picks up the more you know your tire is hot and sticky..

N1K
can anyone here think of any drawbacks to this solution? slight addition to unspring weight of the front.
Furbird
All it's going to do at the most is reduce the sound a little. It's still going to make sound because it's still a hard object hitting a plastic object, except it will have about 1/16th of an inch of rubber coating on it. Pete in PA
I don't think I would want to tighten tolerances there. That front fender is a tight fit on that tire. Position a little brush to rub on the tire at the back.
demon
Don't ride on rocks, or add some aftermarket cans so you can't hear em.
Dion
Don't ride on rocks, or add some aftermarket cans so you can't hear em. I've got a set of Kerkers in the garage that'll make the sound stop
