dodge7d
I got my ignition advancer today, and now I wonder what to expect on the XX. I've done this on a couple of other bikes and it worked great. I can't imagine more low end power. I will let you all know what I think, after I go ride it.
blackhawkxx
Well, did you ride it yet?
dodge7d
Rode it, and I would have to say for the price its worth it ! It has more throttle response, and lots more mid range. The top end seems to be the same. I have not dyno ran it to see the difference, but I'am very happy with it. It did exactly what I wanted ! ( Better Drivability ! )
blackhawkxx
What gas do you run and any pinging?
Pete in PA
Which advancer, how much, how hard to put in??? Why does it only affect mid rpm power? That sounds too good to be true. Usually you give up some power elsewhere. There hasn't been much talk on these things for the XX.
demon
This advancer must be on a carbed bird right? Doesn't the PC 2, not the PC 3, give you the option of adjusting your ignition timing either advancing it or retarding it for different rpm's and throttle positions? On some of the maps for the PC 2, there are advanced timing versions that state that you need to run 93 octane gas with it.
Pete in PA
Oh, so it does work Joe. More info! Sssshh, I won't tell Carlos.
StPeteXX
I have a Dyna 2000 Ingnition. I ran it on a dyno and by increasing to 3 degrees, RWH went from 137 to 139 and 169MPH. Low top end speed due to -1 front sprocket, but low end torque is up This is with 12K miles on a 1997 XX. No issues, no problems, 87 octane fuel and regular oil changes. Oh yeah, full Yosh RS3 exhaust. Rich StPeteXX
dodge7d
Yes, its on a 97 XX. I always ran 91 octane anyways, so that remains unchanged. NO PINGING AT ALL ! The XX must be really retarded from the factory. If it lost anything, it would have to be top end, but a VERY minor loss. Took about half an hour to install. Very easy install. Factory Pro, and cost $49.95 retail. It really does work, but don't expect much so that you will be suprised !
blackhawkxx
Would you compare it to turning up the timing in a old carbed muscle car? If so, it would feel a little crisper, snappier. Not night and day just better. Right?
