Marc
My 97XX has a Erion system and jet kit, right now I have 16/47 sprockets. It revs quite a bit and my speedo is practically useless. Should I switch to just one or the other or go back to stock? Thanks Marc
rayrowe
My 2000 XX had a 16 primary when I bought the bike. I went to an 18 primary, one over stock. The bike doesn't accelerate as hard but still wheelies very good in first gear. highway rpms are lower as well as transmission backlash. I bought the sprocket on ebay delivered to my home for $25. demon
I run 16/46 on mine and am happy with the performance. I don't do a lot of long distance riding. If I did, I would probably go with the stock gearing. Speedo and gas mileage are the only drawbacks to this setup. I would say it reduced my fuel economy by 5-6 mpg. It's a tradeoff between power and economy. It just depends on what you want.
njmaier
What sprockets can I change to and still use my stock chain? I know 17/45 is stock...would going to 16/46 work on the stock chain? Thanks. Nick
XX
i'm running a sprocket specialists 16 with the stock 45 rear on a stock length chain - very happy with it - one of the best bang for the minimum buck and minimum labor! word has it that also going up to a 46 in the back requires more major changes in your chain that just an adjustment
XX4me
I run an 18 tooth front as well. She pulls real good, in fact at WOT in 4th gear 148 mph the front end gets very light. (Individual Results May Vary)

(Individual Results May Vary) Smartass I'm also running the 18T front this year. I'll have to let you know how it works sometime later, when I have a bike that runs again......
