  1. Where is Traxxion located (where you're sending the forks to)?
  2. I saw this in the instructions but I didn't pull out the O'ring for the stock filter.....b/c I couldn't tell where/what it was....?? Is this on the stock filter or sitting in the airbox? Is this like a metal O'ring?? I looked on the stock filter and couldn't find anything but maybe didn't look long enough. I just used the sealing grease in the grooves in the airbox and put in the K/N. I'll have to look again.....does this make much of a difference?
  3. I put the KN filter in last night. It doesn't seem to seat as well as the stock filter but it's in there. I think the reason I may have been down oil when I drained is b/c I changed the oil after letting the bike sit about 10-15 min after a 3 hr ride. Maybe I should have waited longer for oil to get to the pan. When I check the oil w/ the bike cold, level is a little high. When I check after a ride and it's been sitting for 15 min or so, it's level. Bike seems to be running fine though.
  4. Of course in the ideal world it would be more like, "Honey, you wanna help or watch me install my K/N filter on the XX?" "Sure! I'd love too. That's sounds interesting! I've never seen that done before!"
  5. That's what I'm thinking too. I'll probably let it sit tomorrow b/c I'm kinda sick and will probably feel like taking the cage.
  6. 1st time getting to airbox. Like an idiot I lifted up the tank from the WRONG end (from the rear) and then realized that wasn't gonna work and did it from the front. I did tug a little on the tank from the rear but not hard enough to really loosen anything. Started smelling gas and sure enough there a nice thin coating off it all over the floor underneath the bike. But I don't know exactly WHEN it was dripping gas during all of this. Looked for loose connections from the tank and found none using the manual. Overflow hose (black) and thin brown hose (fuel tank air vent hose I think) don't connect to anything but don't think they're supposed to. Hoses that were connected seemed secure. Everything looked ok and gas no longer leaking so I went ahead and put the K/N in and the bike isn't leaking any more gas (and there's still plenty left in the tank). But I didn't start the bike up yet. Why would it leak gas and then just stop? Will certain positions the tank is in cause it to send gas thru the overflow?? WillXX is gonna shoot by tomorrow for a 2nd set of eyes but if anyone has any ideas, I'd appreciate any. Thx, B
  7. +1 Find a reputable dyno shop in your area that uses a gas meter and start over. Like I said I went to a reputable place. They've been there for 30 years and are considered the best and most trusted dyno shop in the area by practically every rider I've talked to here in San Diego.
  8. The shop did remove the PAIR system. I remember them telling me that and it's on my receipt. It's actually a highly respected place. They said to come by and they'll throw it on the dyno and talk a look at the mixture and see if it needs re-tuning. FYI...I checked the oil about a couple months ago and it seemed level. I know I put in 4 qts the last change and no oil has ever been leaking that I could see.
  9. I already have a PCIII. It was installed with the pipes with a custom map from the speed shop. Once I install the KN, I'll probably just take it back to them if things don't improve much. I couldn't believe only 3qts came out of the bike tonight. That was a first. FWIW, bike has always run smooth.
  10. Scorpion cans are black on the ends, powdery inside. Just did oil change tonight, only 3 quarts drained out. Had custom map done around 3K mi when I got the pipes/pcIII.....have heard that I should have gotten a K&N as well but never did. Should have one any day now-12K mi so need to replace OEM anyway. Is it BS that the KN will help lean things out? Dealer service guy told me this (they didn't do the map or exhaust work). Thx, B
  11. It rode ok today (100 mi)....I may end up doing nothing. Not enough to bug me yet. And I don't know how to check the rotors or bearings. I just ride the thing.
  12. I think it's more pronounced the faster I go....yes. I'll ride it again today and see. Wondering if I should change my pressure to see if that makes any difference. Maybe 38/40 today.....
  13. Thanks for the replies. No, this is something I really didn't notice/pay attention to until yesterday. In the twisties, leaned over the bike felt pretty good. But on the straights, the front end has this little bucking going on. On the highway about 30 mi at 90+, it was always a little choppy. As the speed got higher, it got a little smoother but doesn't feel right. Not unsafe just not smooth like it should. Unfortunately that dealer is closed today but I'lll harp at them tomorrow. It's nice out so the XX will be ridden as is today.....
  14. Front end feels like it's always going over small bumps no matter what the pavement is like. I put the pressure down to 38 F/R b/c I was doing twisties today. Have almost 200 mi now on the new Pilot Powers. Usually have tires at 41 F/R. On the highway these definitely felt choppy today. Is it b/c of lower tire pressure? I've never had my tires set that low before but tried it out for the back roads. Starting to think maybe the dealer didn't balance the wheels correctly?
  15. 189 on the bike? :icon_duh: Just got tires put on w/the bike there.......$77 for both.
  16. Just put Pilot Powers on this weekend. Had the PR and PP combo before this. Got almost 7K out of the PR rear. Can't wait until the Powers are scrubbed in.
  17. U mean is it worth 80 McDonald's double cheeseburgers? Yes!
  18. I ordered mine and mailed in the paperwork a few hours later. Bought my rear tire from: MotorcycleSuperstore.com-$126 shipped + $25 Pirelli charges for shipping the front. $151 for both delivered.....not too shabby.
  19. +1 Been using that for awhile. Bird runs great on it.
  20. Any time. But understand that if you take it to a Stealer for service, they may tell you that by using a zip-tie, you are riding a totally dangerous, unrideable bike and are taking your life in your own hands (and endangering others) by not INVESTING the money on a genuine Honda part. So basically you are a reckless hoodlum with no respect for human life. Bastard. I once had a Stealer tell me that. Same Stealer who put a new rear tire on my big, heavy Honda Valkyrie Tourer, take it for a test ride, puncture said tire on test ride, plug it, and not tell anyone (including me), and deliver it back to me. But I’m reckless for using a Zip-Tie on the 'Bird. I hate Stealers. Plus where else can you pay $10 for a small piece of black plastic but the Stealer of course!
  21. Mine may have been gone for awhile....who knows. So much freakin' dirt inside the plastic there though. Cleaned it out and zip-tied it. Thx for the suggestion.
  22. That doesn't sound like a bad idea. I have some white zip ties.....may look better w/silver.
  23. Hole for the bolt is in the lower fairing hidden behind the beginning of the sidestand...bolt is missing. Trying to figure out on RonAyers which part it is.....anyone have any idea? This is the lower cowl slide. thx, B
  24. Thanks for everyone's suggestions on this one. I was just turning one of the adjusters too much before adjusting the other one.....rushing through it. Readjusted and L and R are equal and chain has plenty of slack and just barely into the Green (chain life).
