  1. if you buy a cheap tap and die set you may find yourself starting a thread titled "shit, how do i remove a broken tap from my cyl head". sometimes cheap tools are ok, sometimes not. taps are one time that they are not. i've had the cheap sets and most of them are broken. at the very least get a craftsman or vermont. you dont have to buy the whole set if you dont want to part with that kind of cash. just buy the tap you need. if you want to practice first, buy a couple of extra nuts and put them in a vice to practice on. its really not that hard. also a square socket or a tap socket will help you keep the tap running straight. they work better than the little tap wrench you get in a set. good luck.
  2. is that like an egyptian version of our tree huggers.

    HELP!

the header gaskets are only 2something apiece from the stealer, probably cheaper from ayers. i would get 'em as long as your ordering from there. i just pulled my single exhaust and put the stock header back on without new gaskets and i have a leak. now i have to pull it all back apart. get the gaskets (they're cheap anyway) and you may not have to do the job twice. now for some good advice: stick to your little white collar job and quit working on your bike :poke:

  8. sounds like a battery problem to me.
  9. i've had one of their $10 die grinders since i started my career in '89. its stilll going strong and it gets used almost daily.
  10. you know you can dump 4 of the little quart bottles in there right? :-D
  11. nothing wrong with craftsman, but if you have some time to wait you might want to hold out for a snap-on or matco from ebay. better quality and can sometimes be had for about the same price as craftsman. higher resale value too if you ever want to get rid of it.

    New Garage

electrical outlets every 4 feet, cant have enough of em. plenty of lights too. flourescent lights suck up here when its cold. when i built my garage i used pull chain lights with a switch for each bay. leave 1/2 of them turned off with the pull chain to save power when you dont need much light. turn them on as needed when working on stuff.
  13. i forgot how hard it was for a sugar addict like me to kick the carbs. i'm on day 2 and i want a candy bar so bad i can taste it. mmmm candy.
  14. i never really kept track of mileage before or after the 16t change. but now, even with the 16t, i use a tad bit less gas than stock birds that i have run with. the pc may have helped that though.
  15. 172 on the gps   nik, by the time you ride again your post count will be higher than your mileage  .
  16. 5w40 rotella here with no problems. shifts just as smooth as when i used the m1.
  17. 70 feet long huh. hello bowling lanes. and an archery range next to that.
  18. one of my buddies has an old boat with a ton of holes in it. this thing gets dragged around from pond to pond and really takes a beating. we have tried just about everything (except durafix) from just plain silicone to expensive 2 part epoxies. marine goop seemed to hold the longest. the prep is the key to good adhesion though. make sure the surface is clean, sandpapered and dry.
  19. an impact driver might do it. i need to remember to bring one home from work to try. maybe i can put on the part that i bought 2 years ago.
  20. got a fresh quart in the garage tim, shoulda came down.
  21. new doors should have came with a small tube of grease specifically engineered for your garage door. to use anything else will void the warranty. if you dont care about the warranty then WD40 works wonders. or any car engine oil that doesnt contain moly. or what tim said. or more seriously, get a spray can of white lithium grease.
  22. doesnt the stock exhaust have something on it to keep the c/s from hitting the chain?
  23. when i first got my bird and had to get a new rear tire the guy at the bike shop recommended the 4. he said that most of his friends were running the 3s and getting less than 3k out of them. gobs of grip though. i havent tried 'em myself.
  24. hey big guy. if you tackle the job your self, go to wally world and get a super tech st6607 filter and a gallon of mobil 1 15w50 or shell rotella 5w40. and dont dump the old oil down the sink  .
