  1. Any suggestions as to where to buy the sprocket and chain? What manufacturer?
  2. The bikes are well pampered. they sit in the carpeted bay of a heated garage. the only thing that draws current is the clock.
  3. I have 26,000 miles on my Arizona 97XX. Though the chain is not in the "red" yet, there is a stretched section of the chain so when I adjust it that section is very lose. It "stretched" during my 1,900 mile trip from Illinois to Arizona. ( I guess I should have lubed it more often than I did during the trip) Should I replace both the chain and sprockets?
  4. I replaced the battery on my wife's 2001 XX last year because it kept losing it's charge if it sat more than a week or two. the new battery is doing the same thing. what could be causing the discharge?
  5. Thanks guys. Got it fixed. I don't have a manual here in Arizona and I've never had to adjust it before.
  6. In order for the rear brake pedal to actuate the rear brake light I have to have the brake pedal mashed. It would seem it should activate the brake light with just a little movement of the pedal. how do I adjust this?
  7. With the assist of a 2 ft breaker bar and 27 mm socket from Harbor Freight I was able to get the nut loose. And with the assist of a 1/2" drive torque wrench ( on sale 50% off) I have it properly torqued. Thanks again Joe!!! What a great store!!!!
  8. Thanks for all the help Joe. I do have some basic tools, but nothing of that magnitude, and being the cheap bastard that I am, it kills me to duplicate tools that I have in Alaska. But the reality is, I need to get more tools. I am on my way to harbor freight.
  9. This is the bike here in my new home in Arizona. I basically have no tools here.
  10. I was going to adjust the chain this morning and could not get the axle nut loose. I put the handle extension on the wrench and snapped the wrench. Any suggestions?
  11. Two Brothers have a nice deep rumble to them, I have them on one of my XX's and love them. The only drawback is they will eventually need repacking. The Scorpios are another great sounding and great looking slip-on. We have those on my wife's 2001 XX.
  12. Nice car, Adam. I can't imagine it taking long to sell.
  13. When I had my Illinois '97 XX redone, it was cheaper to buy new Honda oem plastic online than to have it repainted. I did have the tank repainted though. And when it was done, the bike looked like new. I would NOT buy my parts from the dealer!!
  14. Sounds like either R/R or stator. Sounds similar to what happened to my 97XX last year and it was the regulator/rectifier. Check the link below http://www.cbr1100xx.org/forums/index.php?...3&hl=stator.
  15. Thanks. I just went to Honda and ordered the seals. One of my tenants runs the shop so I left the calipers there and they will install them for me.
  16. I just took the calipers apart and cleaned them and as I read through the shop manual it recommends I replace the piston and dust seals. Everything is clean and looks good. Do I really need to replace them?

    BRAKES DRAGGING

Last summer I noticed a noise from the front wheel on Jackie's 2001 XX. I thought it might have been the front wheel bearing. I was removing the wheel and it now seemed like the brakes were dragging. I pulled the left brake off (the side with the LBS) and could definitely see that brake was dragging, though the other brake was also dragging. removing them both the wheel turned freely, so no apparent issue with the wheel bearings. What could be wrong? It looks like maybe the forks are a bit twisted Where is a good place to buy ebc brake pads? Spacers seem to be correct.

    New Tires

Soooooo.......Is "Buddy" your secret name when you go to the gay bars? And being on the back or "butt" of the bike below the seat, it means "Butt Buddy"

    Weird

Bulbs on XX's actually burn out? First its the rubber band that holds the tool kit and now this!!!! Both my 97's have the orginal headlight bulbs.
  21. Nice job!!! My house has no crown molding. I need to add that. It really helps set things off.
  22. Those are great looking and great sounding systems.

    What broke?

+1 Before you go tearing into the stator, unplug it from the R/R and check for A/C voltage (about 50) between any two of the three wires (three checks). Perform this test with the bike running and rev it to about 4-5000 rpm. If you don't get around 50 volts on all three tests, stator is bad. What if it reads closer to 60?

    What broke?

Here is what Joe sent me and here are my results in BOLD: (The battery was charged overnite and it had been off the charger for about an hour when I ran this test. The bike fired up immediately and all the gauges and lights functioned normally.) So, based on this I am assuming the stator is bad. The wires to the regulator looked fine, not stiff or discolored.
