  1. I have a PCIII on e-bay now.
  2. Damn, I mised that. Now that was good, however, we ZRX riders prefer the term, "Retro" or sometimes "nekkid". 8)
  3. Our ZRX rally is in north GA after Labor day. Going up for a few days myself. I know there will be two XX's there (Goobr and HondaJohn from FL). Later Donnie.
  4. Ahhhh, I get a pertty good dose about every day from the ZRX guys. :? I still got a street ride when you get your pass to go for a short hop. Hell, I'll swing by with the trailer and we can haul them up past Cleveland and go over to Telico Plains and run the Skyway without having an all-day-in-the-saddle trip. Just lemme know when you're feeling up to it. I promise to park away from the XX if there are other Birds around. I wanted to make one of the XX rallys. This bunch is at least as demented as the ZRX group. Maybe the ZRX could fit in if I bring enough beer and hand out blow-up dolls and rubber sheep.
  5. OK OK, I am chastized. Kawasaki POS! Ouch dude. Hell, the XX only had like 40MPH top end on the ZRX, that's pretty close, huh? Peace. Thanks for the input on the pipe fitment.
  6. Ya know Donnie, There was a stand-off on the botton of the radiator but I thought it was stock equipment. Looked like an OEM piece to me. :?: Just poking fun at the RedRiders. Same shit goes down on the ZRX board. No offense intended. 8)
  7. Ahhhh, I just figured it out. Those Red ones were built using Harley tools. That's the year that a Honda production line went down and they contracted out the machining and assembly to Milwaukee. I remember now because the tool kits on the red ones came with a hammer and cresent wrench and the warranty was for 25' or until you first inserted a key, right?
  8. Got a question from a bidder about my Akra pipe off the 2002 Bird. Will the pipes off the fuel injected XX's fit the carburated models?? :?:
  9. You MUST use a non-soluable, oil-compatable type glue or the plates will begin slipping and rattling almost immediately!
  10. Drained the "normal" coolant and placed the recommended mixture of WW and antifreeze with distilled Aich two Oh back in. See no difference in the digital readout. Slow moving traffic and stop lights, she kicks on the fan around 212-215 and it cooks at around 217 until I get rolling again. No change from previous mixture.
  11. Bought one of the speedometer correction devices from the subject company. Installation was easy once I figured out where the friggin wiring harness was located for the speedo stuff. When I tested the installation, my electronic cruise didn't work. DOH! I contacted the company and they went above and beyond what I expected. They made contact with the cruise control company, wrote me several e-mails and answered every inquiry. Gremlin was banished and I am a happy camper. This company is the real deal in customer relations. Triple A-plus rating from my perspective! 10 BTW: the "problem" was not related to the SpeedoHealer product. 310

    PC Map?

You got it. Ain't about to reveal the location to the general public. I Unplugged the PC. It seems to run almost as good (seat-of-the-pants-dyno) in the low range, but there is a definate loss of power at the top. I can live with that if the fuel guage like this combination, I'll save the PC for use in the mountains and for rare high speed competition.

    PC Map?

porterb123.....now that's what I am looking at too. The friggin fuel numbers are 25% off! Did I say Hi Desert? I meant high dessert. Like in double-fudge sundaies with whipped creme and nuts. :-)

    PC Map?

At least I now know the numbers are not percentages! Yes, I basically follow what you're saying. I understand enough to leave it alone. Gonna try the pipe and stock controller. Might throw a stock map in the PC after awhile and see how that performs. I was amazed at how quickly the fuel bars were blinking out yesterday with the PC on it. Tokk it to my secret high-desert test track for a bit of top end and the last bar made it less than 10-miles with only one 1st-thru-5th blast!

    PC Map?

So if I am reading the numbers in the map right, a negative number in a certain line and column means the fuel flow is being reduced by that percentage(?) from a baseline? Hell, I wish I undrstood at least half of what I know! :? Donnie, I hadn't considered trying to run the Akra without the PCIII. Might be worth a try just for the heck of it. I know either the pipe/PC combination or one-or-the-other punts my gas milage out the window! Adding to my woes, I installed the Speedohealer and programmed in a correction factor based on the 191-indicated equals 178-actual someone had posted here earlier. Everything seemed fine but when I hit the cruise control switch, it will not engage now. Shit! What next! I am beginning to think that the Bird just likes to be left the hell alone to do it's thing.

    PC Map?

I'll be watching for your test results trurotor. I started to modify the basic map just to try some stuff, but got skeerd and stopped. I find that on hard acceleration, there is a range where the bike pulls noticably harder when I back off the throttle a bit. Upper mid-range I'd estimate. Gotta get some more hard facts on that. Also notice that the TBR map has big-time negative numbers at WoT in that same range. WTF? Hey keeper, that sounds like a hell of a deal on a dyno-tune map. I have been told $250 and up! Screw that. :? I'd rather bolt the stockers back on!

    PC Map?

Thanks for the input. Guess there isn't a DJ map specifically for this setup. I sure don't want to start running premium if I don't have too! When I had a ZX12, folks were sharing custom maps. Thought there might be something like that for the XX floating around.

    PC Map?

Anyone have a Dynojet map suited for the '02 XX with full Akra pipe? All I can find on the disc they provided is a full TBR system. I know there are some Akra customs floating around out there somewhere. Please, please oh, please help me make HP and get better gas milage.
  19. This is kind of spooky. If the K&N is the culprit here, I sure as heck don't want one. Need a filter badly and was about to place a K&N in her. But if the milage is going to bottom out, I'll stay with stock. :?
  20. I found the simple little fucker! :? Right where you guys said it'd be. I found it after pulling the whole fuckin front off the bike and looking for the damned test point described in the manual. Just read the SoB wrong. Shit! Well, at least I got to clean all the spooge built up on the snorkels and behind the headlight. Duuuuhhhh
  21. Where the f**k is that %$@&*#%! connector to plug in a speedo correction box? I quote: "support the front of the tank", "remove upper cowling"....sonofabitch! I just walked away for a few minutes to cool off. Probably put my hand on it with my eyes closed when I go back out. Damn, this was supposed to be a 5-min, plug-an-play installation. 2002, digital
  22. I don't actually have water (I hope), was just wondering if an occasional tank of 10% would be advisable to prevent accumulation.....
  23. I read on some of my RV forums where some owners pour alcohol into their fuel tanks to absorb and subsequently burn the water that may have condensed inside the tanks. My question is, will a dose of blended fuel (some stations sell 10% ethanol) get rid of water in my XX tank or is the concentration too low or the blend with the gasoline too "bonded" for the alcohol to blend with the water? :?:
  24. I am assuming he came in from the exhaust end of the cannister and just penetrated the last solid baffle. Good tip on the extensions. The local machinist/welder will tack a rod on a bit for me for free though. It'll be a couple of weeks before I have the time to hit the cans. Will post my impressions of the mod.
  25. So you can see the holes by looking into the business end of the exhaust? Good thinking. Smaller holes will definately be easier to drill....
