  1. [quote name='redxxrdr' I THINK, maybe, that the cluster lamps are held in with sockets. I use a simular setup on some of my Xray machines. Rotate the socket 90 degrees and the bulb and socket pull off the back of the cluster. Pull the bulb out of the socket and replace with a new bulb.

The replacement LED's for '97'/'98' are 6 each #74 and 4 each #194. The way it looks is the smaller #74's are for the

idiot lights and the larger #194's are for the tach/speedo illumination. Ill let everyone know for sure after the LED's

    come in.

  2. Can someone tell me how to remove the two large rectangular plugs on

the back of the instrument panel. I don't want to just go yanking on them.

My speedo light wasn't lit and when I wiggled the harness that goes to

the left plug, the light lit again. I want to take it apart to see whats up and

    change the bulbs to led's.

    Thanks

    Jim

  3. My stock r/r shit the bed a couple of weeks ago. I've replaced it with an R1 r/r. I've never thought

of reaching down and touching the r/r. Well, after a 6 mile ride I felt the r/r and it was pretty hot.

Out of curiosity i bought one of those infra red temp gauges. The r/r was 161* F.

I've checked all the wiring and cleaned all the grounds. 13.2 with key off. 12.8 with key on. 14.1 at 5000 rpm.

Are these things supposed to get this hot. Cause I have nothing to compare it to.

I just ordered another one to keep under the seat as a spare. I also ordered a DATEL.

  4. I have a '97' bird. Last night I noticed the speedo light was out. Has anyone

changed the stock bulbs out with LEDs. Looks like its going to be a real pain

in the ass to change, so I'd like to replace them with something that lasts.

They never did seem real bright to begin with.

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Thank you

    Jim

  5. Thanks Mike

That's what I found out. Weak battery. I put a new Die Hard AGM in it last year.

The bike sat for a week and drained enough to be to weak to start the bike.

Hadn't heard that "chatter" sound for so long I'd forgotten what it indicated.

I swapped out the battery from the ZRX and it fired right up. Now I have to

find out if its a faulty battery or something besides the clock is drawing voltage

    from the battery.

My ZRX is a '00' with original battery that I rarely ride since getting the Bird

and I've never had it on a Tender. Probably won't last much longer now.

  6. Starter relay chatters like hell but won't engage starter. I did a search

and found nothing. Honda service manual is useless in this case.

    Fully charged battery.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  7. Does anyone have smoke lenses on a "black" bird, and where did you get them.

    TIA.

I have them, let me dig up a picture...
