  1. Thanks John Do the lamp pins differ? Are they opposite pin lamps or staggered pin (one side high - the other low)? Regards Bob
  2. Hi Every blackbird I have ever come across, regardless of country model, has always used opposite pin lamps. In North America did you ever have staggered pin (one side high - the other low), lamps fitted? Also were twin element front indicator lamps ever fitted? I guess this may have been used for running lamps? Don't know guys as its the first I've heard, any ideas? Thanks for your help. Bob
  3. Hi Did all the measuring myself. Been asking around the UK and it seems the average life expectancy over here is low 40k miles................... So on that basis it looks like I did pretty well?
  4. They wore out due to mileage and use. They all measured under their respective service limits (less tham 4mm) Up until now I have always used Honda genuine pads. They last about 8,000 miles if I do a lot of in town riding and 16,000 miles if I sit on the motorways a lot. Pads used now are EBC HH which are a little sharper. The only tiny slight down side is they take fractionally longer (milliseconds!) to bite/warm up first thing in the morning. I reckon 50,000 miles of all year round all weather riding to be good wear on the discs. Only problem is I do this kind of mileage every year!
  5. Variation is 0.6mm And everything is always fanatically cleaned when it is taken apart and reassembled. Looks like I got a duff one! Bob
  6. Just been playing with the dial guage. The brand new rear disc has warped folks! All this despite paranoid torquing of the bolts in the first place. Still on the upside Honda are sending out a replacement.
  7. The only way we can have full access to this site is by launching Microsft Outlook and accessing this site through there. Good old AOL - web broswer conflicts galore and unable to have multiple web access on one account......can't wait until my subscription runs out! Bob
  8. Pete Just after 50,000 miles they were all below their wear levels
  9. Just replaced all the discs with genuine Honda items. All pads replaced with EBC HH. All work just fine. Noticed that the rear disc is wearing slightly unevenly in so much that the inside edge of the disc in the area immediately around the fixings is not wearing. It would suggest that these areas are slightly concave. Anyone else noticed this? Bob
  10. Over here 6mm is considered to be the optimum for increased ride height. Makes a HUGE difference. If you were nearer I'd let you try my bike out! Well worth doing. Bob
  11. www.321ignition.co.uk Send them a mail and ask if they'll send you pics of their trick X11 You'll see what can be done and what it looks like Bob
  12. Hi I ride all your round in the UK. My rear bearings fail about every 25,000 miles and the fronts about every 30,000. Check them regularly on the bike, in most cases you can detect the wear getting worse. Suppose this is what you get for riding in so much rain!
