  1. Hmm. Here is a photo of a brand new chin spoiler black scoop. The original was similar in shape, just scratched and dull. The one in Mitch's photo seems much different than either of mine. I am super picky about looks but i don't see how this one is that important...????
  2. No, i edited that just now. pitch is 1.25. Yeah, I prefer a time sert. VERY heavy duty, but if a Heli coil will fit and work i would not pass it up. I would do as you suggested. Thanks. Lucky i have this GREAT hardware store so close. I can get grade 8 , chromed , SS, mild steel metric in any configuration, Allen head, hex head, acorn, set screws, etc. They gotta have thread fixers too!
  3. OK, here's one for you clever types. I want to fit a set of Vortex pegs on My Gilles rear sets. Reason: I have a pprosthetic right leg and my Gilles pegs are a bit slippery for my bad leg (right side) The Vortex poegs Are AWESOME sharp and huge knobby knurlings. They are made for track or street Sport bike type. BUT they will not fit my rear sets with out mods. I dont have time to go to a machine shop and get anything welded up so... Here is the problem. My Gilles pegs are help on by 8mm bolts abour 30mm long coming from the inside of the bike pushed straight thru the rear set and a bearing and threaded straight in to the peg which is just flush mounted to the rear set. The VORTEX pegs use a 10mm bolt. I can NOT drill out anything larger on the Gilles becasue bearing on each side would be destroyed if i did. The bolt goes thru the pivot point for the shifter on the left and the brake pedal on the right. Both use bearings as pivot methods. Solution: Make the hole in the vortex peg SMALLER from 10mm to 8mm. HOW? Well, it could be welded and drilled and tapped. Best method. No time. I was thinking of adding a time sert or helicoil and tapping the insert to 8X1.0mm pitch thread and some red loctite. I can have them welded up later. I need them for two track days for Racer XX. I can woul;d not track them if i was not 100% certain they were secure. But I dont like that idea. I really need a METRIC time sert so i dant have to re tap a set of US threads to metric. It would not be strong or safe. They do MAKE time serts in metric. I just need to find some. \ Any other ideas? Through bolting may be an option but it will make a long peg even longer and catch on a lean too easy. So that is out. It is not critical , but it would be nice to run at least one vortex peg on my right side. Where to find metric time serts over the counter tomorrow? Any other ideas? Treating my Gilles pegs wont help. i want to concentrate on the idea of fitting the vortex pegs. Edit: The correct pitch is 1.25mm, not 1.0mm for my 8mm bolt. I am pretty sure if i can FIND a 8mm time sert i am good to go. The diameter of the time sert bushing should be right in the neighbor hood of 10mm i am hoping. We have a local hardware store that has the most amazing selection of Metric this side of the UK. I mean HUGE. They MUST have metric time serts too I am thinking. This will work if i can get the right items.
