  1. that happened to me a couple of houses ago...I consulted a heating specialist and he said the motor/blower wasn't powerful enough, therefore the home wasn't reaching temperature. This caused it to run almost constantly. So he replaced it with a more powerful motor/blower. Worked perfectly and the home heated up much faster. Hope this helps.
  2. Thanks for the pics of the CCT! I just ordered the part last week and am waiting for it to arrive, now I'll know exactly where to go!
  3. That's exactly what they said to me when I first brought my bike in....after I picked it up and they said everything in the cooling system was working properly, I still have the high temp gauge issue to try and deal with. I think I'm just going to replace the rad cap and the coolant temperate sensor. Anyone have part #'s for them? Joel
  4. That would be awesome if you could post that on here...I figure any map for a slip on is better than what we've got!
  5. A suggestion....print out all these recommendations from everyone on the forum, including the other thread I have going, cause if they're F*'d up like my service dept, you'll pay a lot of money for no solution. At least they can try. After all, these guys on the forum know more than most everyone else.
  6. I've called V & H. They don't have any maps available...at least not a month ago. They told me to call Powercommander.
  7. I need a suggestion on which map I should use for my bike. I have a '99 XX with Vance & Hines slip ons and K & N filter. Everything else is stock. Called Powercommander and they couldn't give me a definitive answer on which map to use. I've currently got it on stock setting. I thought some of you out there might be able to get me something better.
  8. That's been the problem with my bike!!!! If you try to find my previous posts, my fan quit working on me and I had coolant all over the place. It was a blown fuse....I've had the bike in the shop for 3 weeks and the service guy has had calls into Honda tech department and they couldn't give him anything useful. At $85/hour I've paid these guys $1400 and they are no closer to finding a solution. ($1400 includes a new rear tire and new chain and the full 25000 km servicing). They've checked the cooling system and everything checks out okay. The thermostat opens at the appropriate time. The fan kicks in properly, but I still get temp readings way off the scale. I finally got tired of them guessing on my bike and me not riding and picked my bike up the other day...besides Dean's sending my his Beetle bags and I want to fit them...I'm waiting or Ricrad to find out whether the changes to his bike have worked...otherwise, I'm going to try to figure it out on my own. I've been hoping someone on this forum would have solutions....People keep saying Water Wetter, but when your temp gauge is in the red zone, 8-10 degrees won't make much of a difference. If you come up with anything, please let me know. Joel
  9. Keep the suggestions coming guys....if any of you have been reading my posts the last 3 weeks you know that I'm having EXACTLY the same trouble as rickrad. The shop has had my bike in its shop for 3 weeks now and mega bucks later, still no solution and no ride! They have called Honda and Honda has said they haven't heard of any overheating problems on any of their engines! (BS!!!) The shop has another bike (RC51) that has the same problem as my XX! Help!
  10. Took the bike to the shop today. 2 weeks to get an appointment!!!! So no ride for me for 2 weeks! It was the cooling system! The fan was not working. Also getting the 25 000 km servicing done on the Bird. Meanwhile, I'm hoping it rains for 2 weeks.
  11. It looked like it was coming from the right side of the bike...only about 70% sure though. Yeah, may have to bite the big one and get the servicing done...6 hours labour at $75/hour + parts is steep though...but I guess I have to take care of my baby!
  12. Guys! I know this has been discussed before, but I need your help. I have a '99 Bird. It is usually running in the upper half of the engine temp gauge when I'm stuck in traffic. Today, I noticed it was above red line a couple of times when I was stopped at a light. Didn't think much about it 'cause it's happened before. Caught up with another Bird and pulled over to the side of the road to chat. Next thing I notice coolant is DRIPPING from my bike. It eventually stopped, but not until there was about a 3 foot diameter puddle underneath my bike. Any ideas. I have 25000 km (15 600 m) on the bike so it's due for its servicing..but I don't think it should overflow like that. Any help would be appreciated.................oh yeah, I haven't heard the fan for awhile...usually when I arrive home and the engine is specially hot, I hear the fan just before I take the key out...I check to see if it's working. Joel
