  1. I was trying to keep brand names out of it, but there are several good quality synthetic brake fluid Mfgs out there.
  2. I like to take my time replacing brake fluid, do it for a couple of reasons, first DOT 3 Draws moisture which settles in the lowest places in the system (Calipers) and causes Corrosion in Aluminum parts, which is exactly what you donot want. So you need to get rid of all of it I use a lo pressure vacuum device powered by My trusty air compressor,as the fluid drips, I poor in Denatured Alcohol, and suck it threw until it is clear, Then I open a new can of DOT 5 which is a synthetic brake fluid, it will not damage any of the Rubber parts in the brake system, and dose not absorb moisture like DOT 3 and has better Thermal Dynamics.
  3. your statement implies that you disagree with the manual. may I ask why?
  4. Seafoam and Snake oil are both of the same value in this situation, Neither will work, and as suggested, can cause engine damage. If you do not do it right the first time, when will you have time to do it over again ? Do not "Cheap the repair" Remove the main jet for proper cleaning, and as a bonus but a new Iridium plug in it . Good luck
  5. , Remove the carburetor, disassemble it, be prepared to carefully remove needle and seat, primary, and main jets to soak in Carburetor cleaner. the kind that comes in a one gallon can with a basket, available at most auto supply stores, plan to have it apart over night for best results, this is nasty stuff and can burn your skin. Start with a new can, not an open or used can. you will need rubber gloves to handle the jets when they come out, have compressed air to blow threw them to and to dry them before reassembly, to make sure, I use a magnifying glass to inspect before reassembly. replace the needle and seat with new. depending on your economic situation it would be best to replace all the jets with new. I haven't looked but I am sure there are aftermarket Carb. kits for that bike. they can save you a bunch of money over OE from the dealer Best of luck let me know how it turns out.
  6. These are fuel bowl vent hoses, they are open to the atmosphere. if you have fuel coming from these, there is a float stuck open, this can be caused by several things none of them good. the most common cause is trash in the fuel that has worked its way past the filter and has gotten stuck at the needle and seat, so your engine is flooding. now you are looking at removing the float bowles, removing the floats, to get access to the needles, this is tedious work requiring specialised tools.and hours of work if done properly. Since I have no idea of your skill lever with these carburetors, I can only urge you to defer to a Qualified Honda Tech.. This could also have been caused by a mis routed hose. Good luck, I will be interested to hear what was actually wrong with it.
  7. I own an 01 bird with a equal lingth thin wall tri Y exhust system (Micron) I belive

added a power commmander 3, K&N filter, and new Irridiam Plugs. am seeing 153 HP

to the ground on the local Honda dealers dyno. It is now 15ys old.

How much more is there to be gained from it from a practical stand point ?
