  1. In other news... I met a couple friends this morning for a quick bite. Me on the BMW. Them on their separate Ducati 999s'. When we parted ways coming off a long curved on ramp to the highway, I left left in the dust. K1300GT could not compete with their acceleration and off into the distance they went. Good times. Then I thought, "Can a stock XX keep up?". I know they have a few mods going on with their bikes
  2. The one near Tampa? I wish we could. Trips like that have to planned out a year in advance at the minimum due to all of our other obligations. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll be sure to let her know. She's a dabbler. I've seen her spend the money and time to get into different activities and very seldom utilize the items she had to buy to get into it. Examples, archery, firearms, and and hunting. But who knows, maybe she'll really get excited about riding and want to get a bike. I've already bought her all the gear; Dianese jacket, AGV helmet, Rev-it jeans, Sidici glvoes. The only thing she could currently upgrade on is a proper riding boots. She's got sturdy boots. Just not mc boots, and I've found some on sale 😀. When the weather gets closer to consistently warmer, we'll be shopping again for warm weather riding jackets and gloves. She loves shopping. Actually I need to tell the truth. I did pay for all her gear. Then a day later she brings me a check from her personal account for $500. Which I believe covered her helmet and jacket or mostly covered it. I was not expecting her to pay for getting into the lifestyle but, really it all ends up coming out of the same pot anyway. In other words, I have no idea what to expect come Sunday or the day after.
  3. Nah she’s 5’4.5” with long arms. It was more of a joke poking at her about the bike. If she decides she wants a bike, I’m not attempting to guess at what she’ll get. Like any other woman, she changes her mind often.
  4. The woman says she likes the silver XX. 😐 I had to explain to her “Super Blackbird” then I flipped it around and said, “Maybe you want this one for yourself.” She’s taking a intro to motorcycles course this weekend. Four hours on a bike, no classroom time and doesn’t count toward endorsement qualifications. Might need a bigger garage.
  5. OOOOOOOHHHHHH I thought it was in California! thank you.
  6. These just popped up in my Facebook feed.🤪
  7. I think you're using the wrong NADA. https://www.nadaguides.com/Motorcycles/1997/Honda You can change the year.
  8. There’s a 2003 my area that’s been fluctuating in price between $5,000 and $6,100 depending on what platform the seller is marketing it in. It’s been up for sale for a few months and doesn’t come with extras.
  9. Shipping cost isn’t a concern. There’s a ‘99 near Boston with 44k miles and a crack in the upper cowl for $2700 but, it’s with a private seller. The logistics of making deal with a private seller that far away is currently outside my comfort. Who know what else is going on with the bike? I just had the BMW shipped from a dealer Denver. There’s a level of comfort that comes along with buying from a business and even then there were some things missed by them and by myself since I did not inspect the bike myself before buying. At least they partially compensated me after the sale for what they missed. I’m going to be an Uber ride away from an out of state seller in the near future. I’m hoping that he and I can make deal and I return home with the bike.
  10. Had an interesting exchange with fellow on a XX FB group. His replies to my post about being in search of a '99 were full of comments about people pricing their Birds to low and lowering the overall value of them and how he'd never sell his '97 with 25k miles for less than NADA value of $5,400. He also went on to say that when shopping for one, mileage shouldn't be a consideration. I commented that I believe NADA pricing to be irrelevant when the real value is what ever the seller and buyer agree upon. I then listed a few Birds that I've seen on the national market, their condition, asking price, how long they have been on the market, and what sellers have relayed their bottom line to be on the item. All of them are what I considered to be inflated pricing but, he didn't truly agree with my examples. When I see carbed and Fi models for sale for over $3,000 and over $4,000 and not selling for months, that says to that me their pricing is inflated.
  11. Maybe I should buy and get it one piece at a time.
  12. I think this is the only place that gets me. I've posted to more than handful of forums and FB groups that I am looking for a '99 etc etc. I keep getting these responses about their '97, '98, '03 and I'm thinking...ARE YOU RETARDED? What can't you understand about '99 or possibly a '00????????????????????????????? WHAT IS YOUR MAJOR MALFUNCTION, NUMB NUTS?
  13. I never did hear from seller over the weekend as I expected to. Even texted him last night. I hope he and his mother are OK. I heard from another Bird owner in NM that contacted me from one of my many posts around the internet. He's asking $6500 firm for his '99 with 22,000 miles. Too much for me.
  14. I'm trying to catch up (financially) with the...wiser crowd. Dad got laid off in 2009 and was bummed for a couple days having spent 33 years of his life with Sears having started out loading trucks in a warehouse. To make a long story short, he never returned to the workforce and has been happily living out his retirement years. He worked full time and had multiple real estate investments for 30+ years and I never had a want or need that wasn't fulfilled.
  15. Bike has (3)...count em'...1, 2, 3, 12v outlets for just such an occasion.
  16. One seller went MIA after telling me he'd send more pics and video. I let it slide for a week and hit him up again, he responded and apologized because he was out of town in another state with his mother who was in the hospital. He promised to get pics today, so hopefully he did and hopefully he'll send them tomorrow. Or who knows, maybe his mother isn't doing well or worse and he's focused on that. I just wonder.....the previous Bird I owned was bought from seller who's father had just died. We had an appointed time for me to check the bike out and he called to cancel because his father just died. That pushed things back by a week.
  17. I've got roadside through Progressive. Had to use it once with my truck but, I digress. Thanks for the link, I'm really digging the unique XX items.
