  1. Good write up, I've been looking at the other threads to figure out what parts I'd need to put a ball on the stem. I was all set to order the expanding rubber base (RAM-B-342U) until I saw this thread.

You don't happen to remember the thread size for the rod? That way I can buy the other stuff while I'm waiting on the ram parts to come in...

  2. What about OSB...? Then you can make a man-garage easier and install things all over the walls not always needing a stud.

My first thought too. OSB is cheap, and easy to work with. Rolls of insulation batting are also pretty cheap. Who knows you might eventually want to put in a window AC unit or space heater. It would be a heck of a lot easier to install insulation before the walls go up.

  3. I've always found it ironic that you have to alter (aka, cut holes in) your fairings to protect them from.... holes and cracks.

They were originally used by privateer race teams (low budgets) not to protect the plastics but to protect the frame (hence the name) from damage during a spill on the track. Nowadays they are marketed to street riders, but depending on the bike most don't do a very good job of completely protecting the fairing from damage but might take the brunt of the damage and it would be all the less to repair later on...

If mine had not already been installed when I bought the bike, I doubt I would have installed them myself. But they do make pretty good highway pegs to stretch my legs on long trips.... :icon_biggrin:

  4. Here is a shot of mine. They are made by Proteck and I stuck a small plastic plug in the end of them to give them a cleaner look. I can't help with any install tips, the previous owner installed them.

  5. I did the same thing on my first Acura Integra. I had never seen that kind either before. I must have cranked down on the C clamp for a half hour. Then after I noticed the pistons had a cross hashes on them, so I tried turning it with a big screwdriver and what do you know. In hindsight it seemes like it should have been obvious. But now I feel better than it isn't just me. :icon_confused:

What kind of car is it? I have a Haynes manual for 3rd generation Integra if you want it?

  6. I wait until a temperature reads instead of dashes. I don't hammer it until it's up to temperature.

    + another 1

I take it easy for the first few miles, until the temp gets up to its normal range and it also give the tires time to warm up....

  7. I remember someone talking about punching holes or cutting vents in their lower cowl to let air flow through. I never did read how well is worked or didn't work. I think it was on the .com XX site. In theory it should work, more air flow should carry heat out.

I've always thought that I-4 motorcycle engines were designed backwards. Shouldn't the air intake come in the front and the exhaust go out the back instead of the other way around? But these bikes were designed by people smarter than I so I'll just shut my pie hole...
