  1. this is a beautiful bike and i think the kawi parts look great on it!

could you comment on how that extended swing arm affected handling? wheelies?

wouldn't say i'm a serious sales prospect, just curious about that mod.

Thanks for the compliments PTXYZ. The bike handles exactly as it should have from the factory. The front is now fully adjustable and the length of the arm is very conservative. As you can see it does not exceed the tail section. it will carry the front wheel under WOT but not the tank in the chest on your back type of wheelie :-) You can carve canyons quite nicely as you can see it has been through the Dragon. She handled the twisties as well as she did before the stretch. I would say its an all-purpose bike now. In July I did 1100 miles in 3 days through Ga TN NC and KY very comfortably.

  4. I have had more people notice the wheels than I have notice that its a front end swap. I did a 6-over stretch so it would be subtle. So Hanksxxx gets one point for his comment. I love to keep some originality...

But blackhawkxx gets one for having the same thought as my best friend.

Decisions decisions decisions.... Keep it coming guys :rolleyes::rolleyes:

  5. If you are thinking of doing the ZXXX conversion...Do not use the ZX14 fender. Since I fininshed my project I have been using a Carbon Fiber ZX14 Front fender. The guys here on the forum warned of the blockage of air flow to the radiator. 210 -230 degrees was the norm highway / traffic respectively.

I finally got around to making brackets to use the ZX10 fender. Installed and tested both highway and heavy ATL traffic...190-208 degrees. WOW what a difference. :D:D:D:D:D

Now I regret the 200 dollars spent on the carbon 14 fender. Whats worse is I had to slightly modify the upper tips for clearance purposes...urrgghhh Birds are more narrow between fairings.

Lesson learned - Listen to your fellow forum members warnings!!!

What do you guys think...get a carbon ZX10 fender?....stay silver?....or just add carbon side plates to the silver fender????

ZX14 fender is the Carbon one (for carbon reference only)

ZX10 fender is the Silver one

  6. Thanks for the replies...work has taking me away from riding/working on the bike at the moment. I want it right before I take it on a trip back home to TN to ride the skyway and Dragon in July. It is close now but I will play with the map on the road with the laptop and take plug readings for confirmation. A custom map might be created if I can get it on my friends dyno while in TN.

  7. Hey Guys,

Just out of curiosity....When it comes to PCIII maps are the PCIIIUSB and older serial PC mapsinterchangeable??? I need a starter map for Yoshi Slips and K&N...there is not a map pc3USB map for this set up on my '02 but there is for the older 99 model.

  8. Yeah I know...I practically lived on the hill. If I had a dollar for every Killboy photo taken I would be able to Turbo my Bird. LOL Unfortunately that is the only time I can get there this summer while the wife and kids visit my in-laws in Roane county.

  9. iFanboi...I will be riding the Dragon the week of the 4th of July. All of my friends back home in Knoxville are begging me to come up. I actually was in Knoxville the last two days ... but without the bike :-(

  10. Are those 6 piston?

I would think as long as the master is larger it would be harder not softer.

Long as it feels good and stops good.

I pull as hard as I can on the lever....stopped of course...to make sure it has some movement after what it normally takes to stop...cushion... and does not go all the way to the bar. All good.

No they are 4 pots...i have plenty of cushion with a nice firm feel.

  11. Verrrrry nice!

    Hows it ride?

Ride is excellent...I am very pleased. Stan maybe you can explain this...I used an F4i front brake master with 08 Hayabusa Tokico's with spacers (ZX14 Nissan were very pricey) and they work great. I was prepared to buy a radial master but I see no need. The F4i MC is slightly larger than the Busa's but everyone stated that it would be very soft. I am sure I got help from the braided hoses. I tried it for looks but functionality was the outcome as well.

OK All....Introducing.......Dos Equis. And to everyone that replied to my post while I worked my way through the ZXXX build, I want to say "Thanks Guys". Your help saved me some costly experiences.

Looks great! Please let me know where you set your triples - mm from the top of fork tube to top of upper tree.

We either saved you some costly experiences, or we were the cause of it - either way, you're welcome!

Out of town at the moment but will post the measurements when I get home this weekend.

    Yea, give us the report.

A full report will be posted with pics soon

  12. Thanks Guys...I may do a Halo w/ demon eyes for show purposes. I will check out the LED but will probably just run 2 HIDs. I never need a Hi-beam as the HID is brighter anyway IMHO.

  13. Hi all...

I have been running a HID (6000k 35W AC ballast) in my low beam for about 6 months..no issue at all.

    Question:

Is there an advantage of doing a projector or is the factory reflector about as good as it gets?

  14. Ended up with a "Carbon" ZX14 fender...I am happy with the looks. Not as streamlined as the 10 fender but its a very nice piece.

John01XX thanks for pointing me to the rad grille....I like that and it has a reasonable price. Poida...I find a lot of Aussie parts I like buy the shipping is extreme every time :(
