  1. It wasn't, but the one you pointed out has been deleted. Still, there are some good deals out there. I don't think you're wanting a C14 if you're waiting on a replacement XX from Honda. The Bird replacement is the -14. The C14 is for those who aren't inspired by the ST (boring to me) or the FJR (very good bike, but doesn't take the twisties nearly as well as the Connie).
  2. Good price. They're going for some good discounts, but that is really good. Plus, Kaw gives a three year warranty on their Connie's
  3. I was going to mount it low enough so that the chrome wouldn't reflect any light, but visible enough so that it can be picked up by a quick glance when the engine is running.
  4. One new Kuryakyn model 4219 chrome battery gauge. The packaging is a little dusty, but the gauge has never been out of the packaging. They retail for $40. I’ve seen them for $32. Every bike should have a battery gauge, so you know about a weakening battery BEFORE you're stranded somewhere. How about $20, including Priority Mail shipping?
  5. TPMS isn't standard on bikes, YET. Many cars now have them, and I think it's only a matter of time before many bikes have them as they are far more critical on a bike than in a cage. The few extra seconds warning you get when you are at speed on a bike and are about to lose all pressure can literally save your life on a bike. I'm absolutely glad my C14 has them.
  6. If it matters, good or bad, it's my old Bird! And it ran very well. Stan seems very mechanically inclined, so I'm sure it's still in great shape!
  7. John has something for that? I'm getting married soon and I will definately need one! Oh, he was talking about the bike. Never mind....
  8. Allright, it seems like my little "encounter" with a mountain (it wasn't a mere hill!) at NeXXt has me in the need for a new lid. So yes, I went back to Helmet Shop. Most know that the higher end brands require the retailers to adhere to the MAP (Minimum Advertised Price) policy, and Helmet shop is no different. Well, I called Helmet Harbor as they receive lots of good press around here. My target, a Shoei RF1000 Graphics. Well, let's just say I quickly went back to Helmet Shop. OK, here are some real numbers for you: MSRP - $475 MAP - $428 (listed on Helmet Harbor and Helmet Shop) Phone in price at Helmet Harbor - $408 Phone in Price at Helmet Shop - $342 - a savings of $64. Now how many NeXXt BJ's will that buy me :icon_suck: Helmet Shop price for a Shoei TZ-R Graphics for the future Mrs. GriffXX was $300. 'Buy an intercom or any helmet accessories from these guys, and they will install them for you for free before shipping them out. Oh, shipping is free with orders above $100. And FWIW, they are just really good guys to talk to.
  9. Waterproof. Bluetooth enabled MP3 capable Comes with Mapsource very motorcycle-glove friendly Recognizes difference between motorcycle and auto mount, and offers additional features when on bike mount XM receiver built in Traffic alert
  10. Careful Joel! For any vendors you haven't used before, www.resellerratings.com is your friend. Camera Addict are a bunch of crooks. Sure, they will sell it to you at that price. Then they will sell you a "shock proof 1 gb SD card for $149 that the 550 "requires" (bullshit)". Then they will sell you the extended warranty. Say no to either, you will never see the unit. This just happened last week to a guy on the Connie board. Lots of horror stories about them, lots. If it's too good to be true, it usually is. Stick with Amazon, PCNation, and some others who actually honor their prices without the upcharges. I will say the 550 is a schaweeet unit. No reason to buy the 450, although it is a bunch cheaper. The 550 comes with a car and motorcycle cradles, power cables for both (hard wire to m/c power, cigarette adapter, and AC power), and a copy of MapSource so you can customze your routes. The 450 doesn't come with all that.
  11. So, what's next? 'Appreciate your trying to actively sell it here. It took all my strength to resist as I rode the old kind in WV two years ago (at the Old Clark Inn) when I met the president of the Concours owners group. They were having their annual meeting, and yet he showed up on a KLR. 'Thing was a blast. I'm glad someone will have fun with it. Doug
  12. I thought this thing was already sold. Dammit. I was looking at it in the Stealer oin Saturday as I dropped the Connie off for a new luggage rack. They are a blast to ride.
  13. Sloppy seconds after Ben? Are you sure? Nah, he'll be good for it!
  14. Yep, although the 400/500/600 are only color differences. It's the 400 (Black over Gray).
  15. New cover needs a good home. Never used. The box has been opened once to make sure they sent the right cover. Black over Gray. Size Large to fit bikes up to 1300cc. Still in the backpack and box and vever unfurled. Definately the right sixe for the XX, 954, and anything between 600 - 1300cc. IronPony has them for $54 and KneeDraggers sells them for $53. How about $25 plus actual UPS Store actual shipping costs? Per the Nelson-Rigg site: "The Defender is guaranteed 100% waterproof. Made from a lighter weight top quality Tri-Max treated polyester. The exclusive UVEX process blocks out harmful UV rays that are the leading cause of color fading. Double-stitched, electrically heat-sealed seams and heat shield lower panels. Soft windshield panel protector. Perma-Venting system prevents condensation build-up and allows constant air circulation. Snug elastic bottom with 1" grommets at center and front wheel. Packed into its own tough backpack."
  16. FYI - The Garmin Zumo motorcycle friendly (waterproof) GPS is 643 at Amazon.com right now. Includes free shipping. That's cheaper than PC Nation, GPS Store, BuyDig and Tiger GPS.
  17. Dammit Dave. Year-end bonus about to hit........ Just was looking at one in the Stealership the other day....... Hmmmm
  18. Link has only been down for a few months. Basically, it sounds like the owner, Mark Soloman, just got too busy to keep it going. Other possibly helpful sites are: handgunlaw.us - probably the best site now that Packing.org is gone... opencarry.org - Duh, it's about OPEN carry.... usacarry.com
  19. I'm surprised they haven't already been reviewed. I was certain I had posted about them here before. I'm guessing that SOB Redbird probably edited / deleted the thread!!! I know there are several good "lid" shops. I have heard great things about Helmet Harbor who also lists some good reviews on helmets, and I wanted to try them out. But this time I wanted a lid quickly (gotta look good for the ladies at NeXXT) and Harbor is AZ based, so I went to my old favorite, The Helmet Shop. I've used The Helmet Shop several times and have never been disappointed. To the contrary, I have always been very pleased. I wanted a helmet to match the Ti color on the 954RR, but the 954RR's Titanium is more of a brassy color than on the Bird (more silver-ish). So I called HelmetShop and asked for help. I apologized for 'taking their time since they were primarily an internet shop', yet they were more than happy to help and actually spent more time with me than I expected. The guy I talked to remembered the Titanium color on the '03 954RR and recommended some lids. He told me which Ti colors would work, and what wouldn't work. Which helments were noisy, heavy, and so on - and which were not. I went with the Anthrcaite Grey on a Shoei and it is 'bang on'. I placed the order on Wednesday afternoon, it was shipped that same day with their standard shipping, and the lid arrived on Friday. For East coast guys, it just doesn't get better than that. Like a lot of helmet shops, they are bound by the MAP pricing crap that the helmet manufacturers force on them for internet pricing, so you need to call to get the 'real price' on the Shoei's and other upper end helmets. This was probably the 5th time or so I have used them, and I have been very pleased every time. http://www.helmetshop.com/index.asp
  20. Do a quick search in this sections. Lots of "how to" threads and helpful hints. It's one of the easiest maintenance items you can do on the Bird, if not the easiest. Good luck, although you won't need it.
  21. Good question. The answers are: 1.) I haven't seen it around here very much, if at all. 2.) I was just asking if this is the old stuff that has been proven by thousands of bikers and heavy endurance riders over many, many years (and not just the XX board). 3.) The Gold Cap 15W-50 is their Extended Performance (service intervals) line, so I never really was sure it was 'the same' as the old Red Cap. Just asking. You'd pay an extra $200 for a bike that has been run with the 4T? You'd know that how? Rich - the Gold Cap is still on their web site under their Extended Performane line. that's why I'm not sure if Mobil 1 changed, or if WallyWord keeps changing what they carry on us.
  22. So I'm in WallyWorld looking for some oil. You know, the 954RR has to be running well for the bigger sisters at NeXXt. And I see Mobil 1, 15W-50, grey cap, non energy conserving, with a 'New' label on it - and I think WTF?? I thought our old Red Cap was now a Gold cap with red lettering. This stuff isn't the Clean 7500, High Mileage, or any of their other specialty oils. So I go to their website and click on it...."Back by popular demand, Mobil 1® 15W-50's high viscosity provides outstanding performance in high-revving, high-temperature conditions." Does anybody know if this is the stuff we all used to swear-by? http://www.mobil1.com/USA-English/MotorOil..._1_15W-50_.aspx
  23. Just zip-tie the damn thing and ride. That, some WD40 and some duct tape and you'll be fine! Note to self, don't go with a Tsubaki.
