  1. Can you take a pic of the two next to each other? Any idea what brand the tinted one is? It looks like the ZG ST screen I once had. Thanks!
  2. Give it a test fit first before you buy an extended clutch or brake line. When I put my LSL bars on, I also installed +2" lines, but there's a lot of slack. Damn, if I practiced that kind of logic I would have saved myself a bundle of cash over the years! Good suggestion, I think I'll follow that advice. Thanks Russ
  3. Only if you are racing, not on the street. It makes it easier to ride if anything. That's what I was thinking. Are there options for the bars? Wider looks better but not too wide, guess you could cut em' down but will they bent with heat? I'm also wondering about the throttle cables. Mine with the VFR bars are already stretched all the way (sitting pretty high on droppped forks) seems like you'd want longer ones. Dennis Kirk has them but how do you know what kind? Are they universal? http://www.denniskirk.com/jsp/search/searc...ables+cbr1100xx This is what came up for XX's but only 98-99 Rereading Spieglers site might clarify a few things for you; ie: 97-98 kits list for $299.00 and are ready to bolt on with all parts. 99 and up kits list for $399.00 and include a clutch line (hose) and is ready to bolt on. There should be nothing else necessary to install. In regard to bending the bars; the are a high quality aluminum bar which necessitates gentle bends rather than abrupt ones. I decided to use a different steel bar that was slightly narrower and slightly higher. Since I was also adding new brake lines, I had them made to my length. I did the same with a clutch line and had Motion Pro make longer throttle cables. All these extras were necessary only because I wanted a different bar. BTW, I spoke with Rick at Cogent Dynamics about your interest in an LSL kit and he suggested by all means call him. He also said he'd be happy to do a group buy if enough guys were interested... Hope that helps...Hank The 97-98 kit comes with a clutch line too according to Scott at Speigler. Does anybody know how much longer it is vs stock? I think I'm going to go with these and the kit I'm buying used doesn't have it included. Thanks Russ
  4. Yeah, I know, get in line. But want to put this out there and would rather shop with a forum member than an ebay vendor. Was also thinking the LSL bar riser kit might be cool. Don't know if that would be too much though. It is an XX after all and not an ST. But if somebody has one of those kits for a 97 I would be interested in that also. Thanks
  5. Looking for a stock windscreen that will fit a 97. Thanks Russ
  6. Not on the tender that's for the jetskis, I ride the bike year around. I may try this ............ http://reviews.batterymart.com/product-rev...45-Battery.html Just wanted to see what the peep's thought. I had an Odyssey on a BMW for 4 years and then sold it. I had a ton of accessorys on the bike but never had any issues with the battery. I'd buy another one. Russ
  7. Thanks everybody, I think I'm going to leave it alone. I very glad that I asked first! Russ
  8. I picked up an 87 Hurricane cheap this week. It hasn't run in four years. I cleaned out the carbs and got it running using a remote fuel cell. Looking inside the tank I can see alot of varnish build up and was wondering what those of you who have done restores use to clean that out? I've heard of acetone and hex nuts before but since I haven't ever had to do this, I was wondering what all of my options are. I know it isn't a Blackbird but also know alot of you used to own these and some probably still do. Besides, I've gotten better tech tips from this forum than any on the internet! Thanks! Russ
  9. Available once again. The guy backed out on the deal. Somebody needs a clean ST I know!
  10. You stupid cunt, he wants to trade his '97 ST for an XX because he misses his '97 XX. How did you not figure this out? He said he traded a 97. Didn't say what. That's what threw me. He never says he wants to trade the ST for a XX. He just says he wants to trade. That seemed ambiguous to me. Hmmmm, had to google "ambiguous". Yeah, well, maybe, hopefully my intent is all as clear as mud now. But the question that remains is: Are you interested, or are you just criticizing my post? I guess maybe the next time I post, I can always forward it to you for proof reading first.
  11. Nice bike. Thanks! The same one. Hell, it's the only ST I've had. For sale or trade. Make me an offer! Thanks When you say "trade," it'd be nice to have an idea of what you're open to trade for. I can get you two large sack of crabgrass, but I suspect that's not going to be something you can use. Just so anyone who stumbles upon this thread is clear: What I can use is an XX, any year and color. If you want to buy the ST outright then make me a monetary offer. I listed the price I would like to get in the first post.
  12. Nice bike. Thanks! The same one. Hell, it's the only ST I've had. For sale or trade. Make me an offer! Thanks
  13. Forgot to mention that it also has Penske shock, heated grips and a dash shelf. More pics with the stock windscreen and saddle and the luggage rack and the paint scuff on the tank.
  14. I made the mistake of selling my 97 last year. I then thought I had another one bought in May but health issues got in the way. Now, I am underfunded but I have a nice ST1100 if anyone is interested in a trade. SOLD It has 63000 miles on the clock so is barely broke in. Audiovox electronic cruise control, nearly new ME880 radials front and back, new brake pads, fresh service and ready to ride anywhere. Laminar windshield and lip combo +4, Travelcade Stealth Gel saddle, dash shelf, and a tank bag. I also have a stock clear windscreen if you are under 6' which may suit you better and a stock saddle which has been modified by Spencer, which I prefer. I will let both screens go but want to keep one of the saddles, I just don't care which one. $4500.00 OBO The Givi top box in the photos isn't on the bike any longer. If you need more detailed pics I can take them for you. These are just what I have on my computer right now. I can ride to meet you half way. That's how I got my last one. Russ Lane Austin, Tx.
  15. I was on the Russell website and see they make a sport bike seat now. I have exchanged a couple of emails with Terry and she says it doesn't have the same suspension as a Day Long so it doesn't have the big wings. Supposed to get you lower and allows room to move side to side. 25% cheaper too. It's kind of intriguing to me. Anybody got one of these? Thanks Russ
  16. I recently bought a house in Austin without a garage. I had great intentions of building one by now but I didn't forsee a bunch of dental work in my future at that time. It looks like now it's going to be next year before I have the funds to build one so I guess i'd rather sell this bike than let it set outside under a cover for the next year. Some of you will recognize it as Rich posted progress reports as he rebuilt it. He did a great job and I have had zero problems with it. It has performed flawlessly and I would ride it anywhere without worry. I just returned from a trip to the Davis Mountains and it handled everything I could throw at it. Although, the bike is way more capable than I am! It has 32927 on the clock right now. I think I have uploaded some pictures and be aware that it is dirty not scratched. I haven't cleaned it since i got home. If they didn't upload then check out my album, I know they uploaded there. The title is clean. I will list the extras here, some Rich installed and some of them I installed. Corbin seat Heli Bars Throttlemeister Buell pegs Zero Gravity ST windscreen Pilot Power front and rear. About 3K on the rear and 1.5K on the front Lots of life left. Mirror extenders Yoshi RS-3 exhaust HID low beam Heated grips Scott oiler Speedo Healer 6MM shim Forks from a 2000XX with Wilbers suspension, alternator and RR from same bike. (I think I remember that correctly) Rich has a post somewhere that you might be able to research and find. I didn't save it but it chronicled his rebuild. Like I said, it is a great bike. But then, you know that if you're a member here. Oh yeah, everything but the swingarm was powder coated black. I'm asking $3500.00 to board members. If there's no interest then i'll look elsewhere and ask $4000.00. Heres hoping the pictures load.... Russ Lane Austin, Tx.
  17. What oil do you all use in your Scottoilers? I've used all the oil that Rich gave me with the bike and want to know if anybody is using something besides what Scottoiler recommends. Would be nice to just go to the auto parts store and pick some up. I have some gear oil on the shelf but figured i'd ask before I did that in case I was screwing up somehow. Thanks! Russ
