  1. So I've done the led upgrade. I bought a kit from suoerbirghtleds there aren't really any instructions. So far I've had to make a spacer for the high beam, my low beam had one already for the hid. My only question now is the orientation of the bulbs. The low beam is just as good as the hid. The high beam however is really fucking high, like 100' treetops high. Tech support said they should be mounted sideways but I don't see that working with the birds reflectors. It's facing down now, but I'm going to face it upwards to see how it affects the pattern. The job shouldn't be hard, the base is a split ring with two screws and it can be rotated 0/90/270 degrees.
  2. You've been fixed, we can let you out at night now thanks!
  3. Good at home on my iPad. Ok ok that was almost instant, especially on this old rig.
  4. DING DING! At first I thought it was my crappy work connection 5meg where I tried my laptop, phone and ipad. Then at home with a 50 meg connection on my ipad and phone, still bad. Using my PC at home, wicked fast. FWIW they are all with the same provider, and I'm using default dns settings. It's worst on my ipad, but it's been acting up lately, it might be time to clean it out.
  5. They say there's a;ways someone who shares your love... so when you going to buy the one for sale in my 'hood? You can leave it in my garage for me to ignore* *or use it to wheelie through speed camera zones.
  6. Hmm, probably a Canadian thing, .org gets delayed at customs.
  7. It's all good, too bad I can't find a 1500 cafe racer.
  8. Nothing, then poof! When loading unread content or clicking on a topic. Even responding to this thread, it timed out.
  9. For example it took about 45 seconds from hitting submit before it went thru, I even got a too many posts error, probably because I hit submit twice
  10. Is it just me or has the forum been lagging lately? Doesn't matter if it's in my phonePC, or ipad. I've tried from a few different places as well as LTE and wifi. Carlos you hosting a Pokemon server?
  11. Nope I've looked at and lusted after a valk, especially with a 6into 6 exhaust, but I really like the old wings, the valk just doesn't do it for me. Maybe an old v-max hmmmm.
  12. I definitely won't be looking at a 1500, tbh I'm looking at this: or maybe this : i really like like the cafe racer and he's put in quite a bit of work, done all the engine seals, belts, and carb work. The second one is about half the price but needs work.
  13. Why John? I've had an 1100, a 1200 both naked and a 1500SE. I hated the 1500, liked the 1100 and loved my 1200 mechanically speaking they were all rock solid.
  14. Naw, my bird is probably the most comfortable example there is. I just have a thing for old naked gold wings.
  15. I decided I want to sit when I pee, looking at an old 'wing. Still gonna ride, and be slow, except obviously in Marion, WV
  16. In case there's a Canadian on here who doesn't own a blackbird and wants one. I'l be selling the givi rack/cases and Russel day long after the bike is sold. (this means you,Joe). http://www.kijiji.ca/v-view-details.html?requestSource=b&adId=1180807704 The bird and all it's goodies are off to a new home.
  17. Pushi it up and duct tape it in place, or gorilla tape as it's semi transparent. If you have some wood shims hanging around jam one in between the window and gasket inside the car, the friction should hold it in place.

Got the lights sorted, sides front amber rear red, and a middle light at the back. Spare wheel will be in on Tuesday, then I'll get a tire mounted, I think there's enough space in the front V to mount the spare, as well as a place to hold the ramps.

Second last picture Mikey! it's modular, one or two, and if I was really keen I could probably get a third bike on there.

So being a cheap bastard, I picked up an 8'x8' trailer. It was previously used to transport two snowmobiles. I've redone all the wiring and lights, and picked up two wheel chocks from Harbor Freight. I've run carriage bolts up through the floor and frame and I'll be using wing nuts to keep the front in place, I drilled out the threads on the chocks, to make installation & removal easier. At the back I'm using a clevis pin and a bolt with a bite in nut, I have no idea what they're really called. While measuring, I noticed that the two chocks aren't identical, the mounting holes at the rear are off between the two by about 1/8" , not enough of a difference for the pin, but enough that the bolt would go in cross threaded, so the two chocks aren't perfectly interchangeable, but it's no big deal. I may just use pins instead. As of now the trailer can be set up to transport one bike in the middle or two on either side. Not bad for a $500 trailer, $100 in chocks, and about $50 in hardware. PS Thanks to Ben, Mikey and Stefan for their help patience and advice.
  24. I'm looking to go cheap for the short term, somehow my trailer budget ended up being granit counters
