  1. Can anyone help me with the gear ratios for a 5 speed (wide ratio) honda blackbird engine? I have the ratios for a 6 speed blackbird, but can't seem to track them down for a 5 speed. Thanks
  2. It's not leaking at the moment, but I have to weld the engine block since I managed to crack the mount racing last season and I'm fairly sure the heat created during the welding is going to affect the seal therefore I'd like to know how to get it out and put a new one in! Thanks
  3. I might have to replace the countershaft oil seal - the seal between the shaft that the front sprocket sits on and the engine/gearbox case on my blackbird engine. Does anyone have any instructions/tips on how to do this? The engine is out and currently sitting on my bench with a home made frame so access shouldn't be a problem. Thanks in advance
  4. Thanks Mike, in reality that's what I've done... I'm just a sad git who would like to get a nice ally one machined up.. that and I get a strange sense of satisfaction designing things on CAD!!! Cheers
  5. I'm looking to make a bracket to mount a blackbird engine in our hill climb car and was wondering if anyone has any CAD models of the Blackbird engine? I can accept all the normal formats...STEP, IGES, Catia V5, UGS NX... Any help would be fantastic!!! Thanks
  6. I'm looking to build a race engine from a Honda BB 1100 engine. This engine will be used in a single seater hill climb car so I'm looking for quite specific characteristics. Does anyone know or has anyone heard of a BB engine builder in the UK? Types of expertise would be; Race injection systems and engine managment Data logging Increasing capacity Blueprinting key components clutches oil systems etc etc Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks OMS
  7. Pardon my ignorance but what do you mean "Moly"?
  8. Cheers Guys... Firstly some technical questions; The oil I'm currently running is 5W-30 fully synthetic, it's due a change so I'll give the grade you guys recommended a go. Someone mentioned a company called MRE, where can I find out more information about them? Do they sell in the UK? Now a bit about the car... It is a OMS 96CF built by Steve Owen in 1996. Steve is the guy who owns OMS racing which builds and sells an assorment of hill climb and circuit cars, I think someone does race one in the US somewhere. Our care is a half carbon half aluminium honeycomb tub with the normal independant racing suspension, wings, AP 4 pot brakes and a lovely set of magnesium race wheels shod with cross ply hill climb grade rubber. The XX engine is mated to a quaife LSD that handles the traction very impressively. If you want to see it have a look here are some photo's of my fiance and I racing.. http://www.whatnonegatives.co.uk/2006/06_j..._HTML/index.htm The pink bits were her idea.... Cheers
  9. I have a CBR 1100 engine in my OMS single seater. We've noticed clutch slip when changing up from 3rd to 4th and 5th to 6th. Since the car is new to us I'm wondering whether it could actually be the oil rather than the clutch itself and since the oil is easier to change that the clutch I thought I'd try that first. So what is the best grade oil for my engine. It's at 1137cc with flat sliding carbs, not sure what else the engine has had done to it... Thanks in advance for any help!
