  1. I had my valves checked when it was in getting fixed from the theft. I believe they charge one fixed price. If the valves are in spec. you have over paid a bit. If they need adjusting, it is included in the initial price. You should give them a call and verify that is still the procedure. I forgot about this independent. Zachs Cycle in Milan. I have heard good things about them. No experience though.
  2. I had mine checked at Nicholson's in Ann Arbor. I didn't mention earlier because you requested an independent, which I don't have any experience with any.
  3. My '99 that I sold I got around 30-34 most of the time. 5'8", 185 Highway, ride like you 80-90. I just am NOT comfortable at 70. Don't know why. I just get real antsy at that speed. I settle in and get comfortable around 80. My commute is 17 miles one way. 12 highway, 5 stop and go surface streets. Usually ran a touring double bubble screen. Stock other than that. Tires, I had pilot powers, Pirelli Diablos, and Pilot Road 2s. Usually had them at 40 psi. Chain always lubed with 80-90 oil. Hey, maybe that's why I ran those speeds on the highway.
  4. I found the newer manuals. No guarantee they refer to the 60 pin though. Just a little digging through the webs, looks like around $60 for the manual.
  5. Just mu $.02, I would think they would still be available as the Bird was manufactured up to 2007, or was it 2008. Are you having a hard time finding a part, or are you looking to buy an '03?
  6. I may be able to help out with the glass and arm. I will let you know later tonight when I get home.
  7. Good deal. It takes a time or two to be able to strip her and put clothes back on smoothly.
  8. Ah, that makes sense. I guess I have to take something off to replace the low-beam bulb anyway so might as well do this. Might be a royal pain in the arse since I'm slow on repair stuff. Spicholy, if I happen to be in your neck of the woods, do you mind showing me where exactly it goes if I can't figure it out myself? Sorry for the delay in response. I forgot about this thread. Sure, no problem. Let me know when. Sorry, stopped looking at this thread after I fixed it. I just ended up taking the whole front apart as I needed to change a headlight bulb as well. If your hands aren't too huge, you can do the light bulb without removing any body work. Access it through the square hole in the bottom of the nose cowl. So, did the wiring harness run where I thought it did?
  9. Just go to Autozone and buy a black rubber mud flap with the chrome girl on it and cut to fit. Duh..........
  10. When was the oil and filter last changed?
  11. Is it a tick or a rattle? CCT should sound like marbles in a tin can from about 3-5k rpm. If it is a distinct tick and not the rattle, I would say no to the CCt.
  12. Yep. Between 3k and 5k. Marbles in a can? CCT adjuster. $35ish and 10 minutes time.
  13. Pants are gone Green jacket still available.
  14. Flip the kill switch on and off a couple of times. sometimes it can be a little corroded and some motion loosens it up. Especially if it has been sitting a while.

  16. There is a channel on the outside of the left air intake. I believe the harness you are talking about should run through that channel. It is snug, but that is what holds it in place IIRC.
  17. Same here. I wore them in the summer when my leathers were just too much. I wear shorts at work, so I can just slip these on over them and go. If you stand up on the pegs at highway speeds you can get a cheap thrill too.
  18. Time to clean out the gear box now that my Bird is gone. All prices are plus actual shipping costs from 48197. If I am way off on pricing, make a reasonable offer. Joe Rocket Ballistic Jacket with liner and zipper tab. Worn maybe 4-5 times. Like new condition. Size Medium. $40 Cortech HRX Pants. Mesh with leather sides, knees, butt. Knees have material for velcro sliders. Insulated liner and wind/water proof liner zip in independently or together. Has both an 8 inch zipper and a full 360 zipper. They are tagged Mens XL 36-38. I wear size 36-30 pants and these fit me well. A little loose without the liners, just right with the liners. Knee and hip pads. $80
  19. A guy named Nate. He is heading down south for Army helicopter training. He may join up here.
  20. Yep. Sucks. But, yep. Five years to the day.
