  1. Yes, every time I take her out, I am going to ride her like I am trying to rape her  Actually I switched over at the 4k mile mark.. I don't run my bike hard till the group I ride with hit the mountains. Then I stay in 3rd mostly and wring her neck. There is the occasional 2nd gear wringing, but thats for the really really tight stuff, but have found out that 2nd is too much for alot of corners and 3rd isn't enough.. might try a gear change this winter. Most of the time ( 90%) 3rd is good, just powering out of corners in 2nd tends to give a slip or two every now and then. Dave
  2. Why don't you just sell the bird and get Y2k Bike.. They will never know what went by them Dave
  3. because diesel uses compression to combust its fuel. Your bike may have 11 to 1 ratio.. where as a diesel will have 20 to 1 Diesel it rated at like 40 octane, where fuel is 87 to 93 or 94 We use about 7,000 gallons of diesel fuel every 3 weeks at work. Buddy of mine did this to his Gixxer 1000, I told him next time look at the handle. most diesel fuel nozzels are huge compared too gas ones.. Also gas and fuel smell different.. thats enough for me too know also.. Dave
  4. No shit... I completely agree... makes the already awsome turn sigs look like shit... Dave
  5. I agree it looks good, but a pain the in the ass too keep clean.. I used alot of Mothers to keep my rims all shiney on my last bike... Would not have it again, would rather keep them black, would really like too get some silver rims for the bird... powder coats or find some Canadian rims... they have a silver or light gray rims.. Dave
  6. Damn look at all the unused tread on the sides  did you even turn  Could always use that tire at a track day, got lots of tread on the sides left.. Dave
  7. Sounds like a valve tap too me, If you know what your doing yank off your tank and stuff, and pull your valve cover off. If you don't I suggest you take it to the shop and have them check them out.. Dave
  8. Sounds like one of the tumblers is jammed or something.. Might have to take it to a lock smith and have them look at it.. I had a simlar prob with my fuel cap.. alittle PB Blaster and smooth as silk.. Will get some dry graphite if it happens again.. Dave
  9. Mikey, that is a very great way indeed, I always thought the string method was a real pain in the ass. I am going to get me some dowels next time I am at Home Depot. Thanks for the tip. Dave
  10. Yes I got some pics of it... Its parked at a Air Museum in Richmond Virginia. I want too go back and take a few pics of it with my bird, and my buddies bird together  The director at the museum rides, so might get the chance to do it... Dave
  11. The 40 comes from they finally got it right on the 40th try... if they did it right the first couple times it would be WD-1 or WD-9, but nope WD-40 Dave
  12. Damnit... I was jsut going to say, nope never had this problem You know one thing I did notice.. I read somewhere the dimples in the fairing bolts came from the SR-71... I got pics of a real blackbird, and there is one about 40 minutes down the road from me... you can walk all around it and what not... There is not one freaking bolt on that plane that has dimples on it.. and believe me the skin of that plane is covered with screws... Dave
  13. This is good news.. everyone asks me what tire I am going to next, I say Avons hell with dunlop and others. I have heard nothing but positive things about Avon.. Dave
  14. Also if you ever get into a traffic jam and just sitting there with your asshole clenching the seat fearing of over heating do 1 of 2 things. 1. cut engine off, (if your going to be sitting a while. or 2. rev motor to around 2k rpms this will get the water pump a turning and circulate the radiator fluid more. oh and there is a 3rd, pull onto the shoulder and pass them all Dave
  15. I just received my Cheetah SST windscreen for $15.95 sent too me. I love the dark smoke look and is a really nice windscreen, I will snap a few pics of it and post them hopefully today.. Can't go wrong with $16 for a windscreen, only thing is I am 5'9" so if a crosswind does come along I get alittle bid of wobble from the wind.. Dave
  16. I was curious what is the bulb number on the 99-03 bird. I know the 97 and 98 had the 1157 bulbs if memory is correct. Alot of bikes still use these. I would like to get some LED's too put in the rear. Anyone know a store online that sells these bulbs? Thanks for any info.. Dave
  17. I already replaced my muffler bearings... went with the Leo version. Dave
  18. :?: Ok, just what is this for? I was curious myself, and a buddy who also has a bird asked me yesterday. I dont know so thought I would ask here. Dave
  19. :?: I dont get what your saying man :headscratch: I plan on taking out the blank and replacing it with a clear peice of plastic. I will change the bottom buld in the tail light with a single filiment bulb, (this will keep it at once brightness, even when brakes applied) I plan on relocating the key for the seat removeal to the left side vent hole.. if you look where you grab your bike at on the back to put it on the centerstand you will see flat blck plastic on the back... mount the key switch there. I dont get what will get brittle and crack down the road??? umless you thought I was going to relocate the key on the bottom of my tail light :cycle: Dave
  20. Thank you.. I was curious as to how it came off. I plan on knocking out the blank square on the bottom the stock tail light, and changing the bottom bulb to a single filiment bulb, relocate the lock to the left vent (like you guys, great spot I might add  ), and get rid of that rain gutter some.. I already chunked the stock signals and have some cat eye looking ones on there now. They are 1/4 the size of the stockers and just as bright. I have no problem drilling or notching, should be pretty simple too do. I also plan on maybe making a stainless undertail with some LED's in the future.. I am currently working on a stainless vid cam mount that goes on the tank to record some rides... Thanks again for the help.. Dave
  21. Well I will tell you I was looking for a smoked screen and was going to call a place yesterday to order one... but hell after seeing this I will get one for $15 bucks....hahahahaha thanks for the reveiw... Dave
  22. Ok I wanna clean up the ass end of my bike, but was curious as to how do you remove the key switch for the seat to come off?? I saw a picture where someone had relocated it on the left side of the tail section where you grab to lift the bike on the center stand. I dont want too break, so thought I would ask before I go and break it or something.. thanks for any help.. Dave
  23. I was thinking of going with them myself... keep us updated on how they handle and wear. Dave
  24. yeah I have some on my turn sigs for my bird... Really easy too do. Rez (owner of tricktape) been making these for about 3yrs now... Use to have my head light done, and also did my helmet visor, but messed with my vision... I always bug the shit out of Shawn at tricktape to get more stuff for the XX  Dave
