  1. Has anyone installed this version of an LED tail light assembly? Good looking piece in the add (scroll down). I was just wondering how bright and visible it is in a side view? It's from Jaws motorcycle parts in the UK. http://www.jaws-motorcycles.co.uk/bird2.htm
  2. There is a procedure in the service manual relating to synchronizing the starter valve. :icon_think:
  3. Oh, BTW, Pick up a copy of Street Rodder magazine. You'll find all sorts of trick billet aluminum, and stainless bits if you REALLY want to make it look trick!
  4. That's what they look like, CC. You can also buy them with an aluminum strap in a performance store that carries Earl's Products.
  5. Just curious if a TB synch is in order for the XX? We do them regularly on the FJRs and the Vstroms. I do not see this as a regularly scheduled maintenance procedure in the Honda manuals. I haven't found too much on the topic on the forum search engine either. Any comments would be appreciated.
  6. Have you considered using the existing bracket holes to mount an Adel clamp(s) instead of that Rube Goldberg pull tie setup (no insult intended). You would have the benefit of a clean looking install, plus the strength of a rubber and metal mount, that would be much less subject to heat and vibration stress as would a nylon pull tie. You can get them at any performance shop in incremental sizes, in steel or aluminum. They are generally under a buck. Try a store that selles Aeroquip hose or Russel fittings. Good luck, BTW.
  7. Do any of these shields offer some level of QUIET air around your helmet? I'm not a big fan of riding with earplugs in, for safeties sake. I may find it mandatory to do so, on this bike, particularly with bar risers /aftermarket seat. Way too much wind noise and buffeting at speed! What are the LD riders using on theirs? :icon_think: Are they satisfied with the level of turbulence on a long haul? Just curious?
  8. OK, Dale, I guess it may not pay to wait too long for the newest technology then. I made the assumption (falsely) that a gas charged unit would employee somewhat simular technology as the switch that the automotive aftermarket did years back. There was never a huge upcharge between a gas and non-gas unit back then, usually less than 20%. Live and learn, I guess.
  9. Dale, After reading through the CBR1000rr forum link posted by another member, I was wondering if Max will be making the new GAS CHARGED cartridges available to us, since this is going to be Traxxion's new direction moving forward. He is apparantly pretty proud of their newest release (due shortly). Would it be worthwhile waiting for the latest and greatest? http://www.roadracingworld.com/news/article/?article=25376

Convertibars will probably give you the greatest range of adjustment, and can be changed on the fly! They are also extremely well made as well. http://www.convertibars.com
  11. Hi guys, While we are waiting for our ever-resoursful, (and tireless) benevolent benefactor(WC), to consider a repeat GB...... Would there be any objections among the forum members if I was to make any inquiry about a GB on S/S lines? I can try to contact a couple of vendors myself, (I do not have any current business relationship with any of them), or as an option, I have had some business dealings with a local respected company called Detroit Flexible Metal, which uses Aeroquip and Russel components and could possibly make kits to order. Obviously, the color choices may be limited, and I will have to make sure that they are competitive. I do need some input on target pricing. I take it that all years of XX use the same hose configurations? Kindly fill me in if otherwise. I'm just trying to keep this thread alive if there is an interest.
  12. I have no preferences as to the vendor, either. Whatever Vendor is willing to work with us as is as important to the GB as the brand. I'm sure that other than minor cosmetic differences, the functionality and fit between the major brands is quite simular. I think that WC has had some experience installing Galfers in the past, it's quite possible that some forum members have installed Goodrich SS lines, as well. BTW, I am an automotive parts wholesaler. Order volume speaks very loudly. I know a large size order, particularily in this category, WILL get someone's attention! Hope Dale chimes in again, soon.
  13. From a purely business perspective, when there is a competitive alternative to a manufacturers product (i.e. Galfer, Goodrich, Aeroquip, etc.), the opportunity to fulfill a large, high volume, yet still profitable order,THAT IS HANDED TO YOU WITH LITTLE SALES EFFORT OR COST ON YOUR PART, is rarely one that is turned down. If the price is right, the ability to garner NEW business prospects from peolple who would otherwise probably NOT consider you as an option, are not to be dismissed lightly, in spite of current distribution agreements. :icon_think: Remember, this is all NEW BUSINESS, that will probably NOT be there were it not for a group concensus! There are few business opportunities that are being handed out like that regularly in an ELECTIVE purchase situation. Again, I seem to recall that the FJR Forum group buy (Spiegler/ABM/ Brake friction), resulted in a +$100,000 order for the vendor! I think that any vendor would be justified in turning a good business proposal down! Remember , we purchased the product through a legitimate ditributor, to maintain consistency in the distribution channel. Just my two cents!
  14. Assuming that is there are not Platapus available today. :icon_nono: Redxxrdr, I believe the plural form might be "Platipie"?
  15. Dale, Your efforts are always appreciated, and we are all thankful for your research and efforts, honest! :icon_clap: :icon_clap: :icon_clap: It just that, since this particular "Group Buy" has already been done before, and the details have already been worked out, then I hoped a "repeat opportunity" would not be as onerous. Not trying to minimize the efforts involved at all, really. I thought that a placing a few calls, and reposting pretty much the same information, would let us help the great American economy, once again! Thank You for your consideration, WC!!!
  16. If I recall correctly, I think that Dale (Warchild) had used Gary at University Motors as the order fulfillment center for the FJR group buy. I think that this forum group has a good relationship with him as well. I'm not sure how many kits are required to make the deal happen, but since I have 2 '03 XX's, I would be willing to buy a second kit for my mint 0-mile bike just in case I may want to install it one day. It could help bring our count up for the required purchase volume. You are all going to need brake /clutch hoses sooner or later, might as well buy them right! Come on Dale, help make this happen, one more time!
  17. I wonder if we can get Dale to get the Spiegler folks to extend us another chance? Their normal price is about $440 for the Brake lines and about $75 more for the clutch line kit. The Group Buy deal was a substantial improvement at under $300. It was also an excuse to buy/install a set of speed bleeders. Common Warchild, we need a negotiator to get things rolling! :icon_clap:
  18. I just ordered a set of Convertibars for my XX. I figured I might as well do the entire bike with new S/S lines instead of just the + 2 inch longer uppers that they can supply. I was wondering if there would be enough interest for a repeat opportunity to buy a complete kit at the right price? Anyone care to get a new opportunity started? :icon_think: I can only guess that WC set up the last one!
  19. Just curious, My bike rattles near the cam covers on cold start up for a few seconds, then smooths and quites right out. Does it need a new CCT? It currently has the two dot version on it (factory '03). Just wondering on how long the new design generally lasts?
  20. Another possibility, Is the rear hugger so close to the tire that the new tire injection "nibs" are rubbing the inside of the hugger ? Particularily those towards the sides of the tire carcass. It would probably be more of a higher pitched sound.

    Chain Oilers

BTW, Dale, Can you pin this in the GB section when it happens? It's pretty easy to lose a thread topic in this forum. It seems to get buried pretty quickly with new posts and ends up with 2-3 pages of new posts on ahead of it. Just an observation, IMO.

OK, Dale, Count me in as usual!

    Footpeg mod!

GadgetXX, I would be interested in lowering my pegs a bit, per your mods (bad knees). Would you mind posting your installation? I will consider the Gilles rearset option if the Buell pegs won't do the trick. Whoops! I see that you have already posted the procedure, Thanks!
  24. OK Dale, I'm interested,. I would like to include a rear shock (with correct spring rate)- GB if possible.
