  1. gernaded???? i should add that it runs fine in gear... it just doesn't like it when i pop the clutch out in neutral.
  2. tonight i noticed when i put the bird in neutral and let out the clutch a nasty *KER-CHUNK* type noise... like i missed a shift or something. then to my horror, when i tried revving the engine it made more of these noises, sounding horrible like it was between gears and about to do serious damage if i kept it up. i'm pretty sure it didn't do this before. this can't be normal. it really sounds horrible, like if i revv it in neutral i will tear the gears to pieces. anyone experienced anything similar?
  3. wow, it's really that effective? no downside? i will have to check it out.
  4. does the linked braking system make flushing the brakes any different than non-linked brakes? the thunk-a-thunk sound was present with the clutch pulled, but i only heard it yesterday. *shrugs* bikes always make weird sounds, i'm just not used to this one yet... maybe it just had to do with the temperature outside. thanks!
  5. let me start off by saying it's only been 3 days and i am already obsessed with this bike. my previous bikes have been an 85 nighthawk 700 and an 89 FJ1200. i never thought i'd have a bike that made the FJ seem like a toy, and yet here i am. anyways, since i am unfamiliar with this bike (and all bikes produced after 1989, for that matter), there are a few things which strike me as odd about the bike, and i'm curious... 1. after at least several miles of freeway riding, when i stop the bike there's a weird humming sound that sounds vaguely like it's coming from somewhere under the instrument panel... strange jet vaccuum type noise. the noise fades in and out when i turn the ignition switch on/off, but only for a minute after those freeway rides. i have noticed that this noise is separate from the FI noise when turning the ignition switch on, as well as significantly louder (though still pretty quiet overall). is that the cooling system? 2. the brakes feel so firm they're practically rock solid in comparison to my previous bikes. i barely have pull the brake lever at all before the brakes are applied fully. likewise, pressing the brake pedal feels like pressing a flat rock into wet sand... so much resistance. if this is an intentional design... why? 3. is it normal for chain lube to drip slightly onto the sidestand and areas surrounding the gearbox? these areas on my bike are coated with an oily residue, albeit minor. 4. rattling noises, pinging, etc.- is this normal at lower rpms? none of these noises are loud, but today i was a little disturbed by a repetetive "thunk-a-thunk-a-thunk" sound which was audible up to about 2k rpm. it wasn't a loud noise, just loud enough to be heard over the purring of the engine, but it made me wonder. 5. i haven't been able to verify this, but does the bike actually lift off the wheels completely and begin hovering at speeds above 30mph? looking down from the bike while i'm riding it's difficult to gauge my depth perception, but i'm pretty sure it hovers. i love this thing!
