  1. You may need your stock system. Pending and current legistration will require a "number match" between bike and exhust. Myrtle Beach has a Noise Label Matchup law. NYC and other cities are lineing up. Harley is starting a Pipe Down effort to limit bike noise and no longer sells Screaming Eagle brand. The exhust that Harley does sell will be legal 50 states or 49.
  2. Let us know about the Qualifier II. I really liked my Qualifiers on the XX.
  3. When did these go into effect? I thought fuel mileage for but big trucks went up over the last 25 years or so.
  4. +1 I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks most emission control crap only fools the sniffers. +2 Yes, it's a big plan with all the oil companies to push more gas through motorcycles so they burn as much as cars.
  5. The Earth's atmosphere (or air) is a thin layer of gases surrounding the planet Earth that is retained by the Earth's gravity. Fifty percent of the total mass of the atmosphere is located in the lower 18,000 ft or 3.4 miles of the troposphere compared to the almost 8,000 mile diameter of the earth. The point is we live in a very thin layer of air. The PAIR system is an effective way to reduce pollution at no cost is in fuel or horsepower. If you are getting your bike dyno tuned, a simple clamp can temporary block off the system if needed. It is not like you dyno tune every week. We can all live with the PAIR system. Motorcycles don't want to end up in the EPA cross hairs for pollution control or reduction. Also, from the EPA web site, any person may face fines up to $3,750 per vehicle for tampering with emission controls after Jan 12, 2009. Under Section 205(a) of the Act, 42 U.S.C. 8 7524(a), the maximum penalty for violations of the vehicle and engine requirements under Title I1 of the Act is $25,000 per vehicle or engine, with two exceptions. The maximum penalty for violations of the tampering prohibition when committed by any person other than a manufacturer is $2,500 per vehicle, and the maximum penalty for violations of the defeat device prohibition is $2,500 per device. These maximum penalty amounts were increased from $25,000 to $32,500 and from $2,500 to $2,750 for violations occurring after March 15, 2004, through January 12,2009, and to $37,500 and $3,750 for violations occurring thereafter
  6. What you have there is chrome plated scrap metal. For about $5000 you could turn it into a $1500 motor.
  7. When my PR2s wear out I'm going back to Dunlop Qualifiers. I may even change them early or just take a long trip. I'll just call it personal preference but I never felt as secure on the PR2s as on the Qualifiers. The Dunlop were shot when I put the PR2s on but Qualifiers were still better (except for the last few hundred miles). With one front and two rears I got about 7,000 miles with the Dunlop Qualifiers.
  8. Glad you found the answer; sorry I was too late. I had a boil over problem recently on a 944 Porsche and it was the radiator cap. To lower the operating temp and in general improve cooling, get a bottle of RedLine Water Wetter. You only need 1/4 bottle. BTW - If you need anything from the US; get a paypal account and I'll ship it to you for cost.
  9. I guess you never worked under the tank much, it's worth the price to get rid of that crap. Not to mention if you ever have your bike dyno tuned you need them out to make it accurate. You are adding pollution. I think they only open on deceleration or low throttle - allowing air to enter. Full throttle they close anyway. Most people dyno full throttle. I don't think it will change the reading any. Plus I love the "popping" sound on down shifts.
  10. Most people on sport bikes can't get both feet flat. I don't even think about it anymore. I put my left toe down just to balance and cover the rear brake with the right. To rest at a long light I'll go to neutral and put my right foot down provided it's flat.
  11. Well it should wheelie easily. Heck my friend and I used to wheelie side by side, him on his Yamaha RD350, me on my Honda CB360T. The H1 had way more power. Nice bike Joe, good luck with the sale. "Should wheelie" is a gross understatement. The H1 had a non-linear increase in power at about 6500rpm. If you were not sitting on the gas tank leaning forward you could end up on your ass watching a light show of sparks as your bike was destroyed. That rush is what these bikes are all about. They are hard to handle; not they don't handle well. When you grab a hand full of throttle, you have your hands full.
  12. If you keep a battery till it dies, you could end up needing to replace your rectifier or worst. You could also get stuck somewhere and have to buy a battery where ever you can find one for $$$$. For me, 4 years is enough. I also went with a 14 but I had to remove the rubber feet at the bottom of the holder.
  13. I read E-10 gas-a-hol should not be stored more than 30 days. I don't know if you add Stabil or Sea Foam how long it is supposed to last. I used Sea Foam and plan to ride at least once a month. It may take a while to burn a full tank.
  14. Somebody stole it for $202.64 Pay me when you see me or we can go double or nothing sometime over the winter.
  15. I'll take that bet. $112.50 right now with 20 mins. $5.15 to cover paypal fees. I love this kind of shit. We have ourselves a bet. Now don't you go and bid $701. I rather pay/collect when I see you NeXXt time.
  16. Is this anyone we know? Throttle Meister is worth the price. Tires and stator look OK. Clutch is gone. Ebay
  17. I checked out the website. The pictures look great. They have the only custom sport bikes that don't look like Harley gone sporty.
  18. I commute 500 miles/week and use under 2 gallons. Make sure your tires are at the right pressure. Go easy on the gas pedal. Coast to a stop - your brakes turn energy into waste heat. Plus, I only drive 3 miles to the bus. Since the 70s car emissions have gone down and fuel mileage up but people drive twice as much so we got zero benefit. Seriously, we have to change both how, where, and when we drive. People need to take public transportation Move closer to work/get a job closer to home Telecommute Work flex hours to avoid traffic etc.
  19. Rider improvement is the biggest performance upgrade you can made. Take a MSF course. EBC brake pads and new fluid may make you feel like you have SS lines. Next, I would go for comfort. The peg lowering blocks and VFR bars are a great improvement. You can usually sell a corbin seat for about what you pay (if you buy used) so it's like a free upgrade. Gear can add saftey and comfort. I use www.motorcyclecloseouts.com. Boots, pants, jacket, gloves, helmet.
  20. "Iam sold 3 years ago mine xx for $3500 no schratch on her year 2000." Looks like you are out about 20 RWHP and $8000.
  21. Thanks for the replies. NJ is one of the states that does not have to label "Contains up to 10% Ethanol" but I guess they will soon; most stations have labels. I'm going to replace the hose and get a metal filter this time; some of the plastic filter's glue clogs the filter. For the XX, I'm going to try sea foam.
  22. I keep getting clogged fuel filters on my lawn tractor I think due to running 10% Ethanol. I also read that E-10 should not be stored for long periods like over the winter in a XX. Are there any additives for E-10 to make it not clog filters, scum up injectors, turn sour, cause rust, etc.?
