  1. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...TRK%3AMESE%3AIT I've got this one up for sale on ebay. And the best part is the reserve is only $9.00 so even if you dont like it your not out too much money. This is a kick ass screen to tour with it is provides alot of wind protection without taking away from the looks of the bike. Its a National Cycle brand screen and is light smoke colored.
  2. If you decide to change the color of bulbs on your analog gauges red would be a good color, stay away from say purple or a darker blue because they will turn the numbers too dark to see. and with a speedo that goes to 205 I have a hard enough time reading it as is
  3. I'd say the Memphis Shades Pop Top is a good choice for your Magna. I dont know if you have found it yet but www.supermagna.com is an priceless resource for your 87 Magna. These guys know everything about anything having to do with 87/88 Magna's. I'd like to see some pictures of you Magna if you have any. I just love the 87/88 Magnas I'd love it Honda would release a 07' Magna that is exactly like the 87/88's well maybe they could polish the wheels from the factory, and switch to a dragbar handle bars.
  4. Thanks for the fast reply. I'm probibly overly cautious with the BB's mechanics. Since its almost 10 years old I just have a feeling that things are going to start wearing out quickly, sort of a mid life crisis for the motorcycle

    Chain Oilers

I may be intrested in the Pro Oiler. if you are getting a group buy together please include me.
  6. I get a little rattle when the bike is warming up and i twist the throttle. is this the CCT going bad or just typical Honda warm up. My Magna ticks from the right side during warm up and the Bird rattles. I've decided the Magna tick is poor oil flow during warm up, but it is the XX's sound that I am unsure of. I was wondering if you think it is the CCT or normal warm up? Thanks
  7. I use a product called "Cat Crap" I got it at some outdoor camping store it works really well. But The moisture seems to build up right at the bottom of the shield. Mine was actually dripping wet, but I suppose it did its job because the visor never actually fogged up.
  8. The letters on mine are flat out gone. I bought the bike this last summer and the letters were off of it when I bought it. Since you mentioned it i went out to the garage to look and yep they are long gone!
  9. Which red wire are you talking about? I'd just like to know! And no doubt that would have been usefull before I spent 13$ for a new flasher. thanks for checking this out for us!
  10. I had the same problem! the flasher is crap. take it to Napa and tell them you want their version of the same thing. I did this and now mine works perfectly, sorry by you (like me) pretty much wasted $13 on the CA flasher.
  11. Thanks for all your suggestions. After reading them over I think I will just leave the suspension alone. I would rather be safe then look cool.
  12. I totally dig the look of the DragRacer Blackbirds, with the fronts slammed so far down, but i know that this isn't reasonable for everyday riding. but would like to get it as low as possible without sacraficing everday practicality. I guess thats my main goal here.
  13. my fast math saysthat 15mm is about the same as a half inch. I guess 15mm is .59 inches to be exact. thank you google search!
  14. No I havnt shimmed the rear. I would like to leave the rear as is (stock height). I'm thinking about 15mm drop in front. but just wanted to verify that it wont be too much of a drop. I am wanting to do this for 60% looks, 40% handeling (squidly I know!), so i'd rather leave the rear height stock. Any ideas on if 15mm is the max I should reasonably drop the front with a stock rear, or can I go down more in front because the rear is stock? Please take into consideration that I dont want the fender slamminginto the bottom of the tripletree or anything dumb like that happening. Again thanks for your replies this forum is great!
  15. I am planning on lowering my front end next week. I want to quicken up the handeling, as much as I just think the bird would look better with the nose down. im asking how much can i safely lower the the front before handling becomes too quick, or make it unridable? Oh and I will be sliding the forks up threw the triple tree, rather than just strapping it down. I put about 7,000 miles a year on the bike so i need it to still be ridable, but I deffinatly want the most drop i can without sacraficing too much drivability. I know this is a personal opinion question. oh and i will be keeping the back end and factory height. - Thanks !
  16. "Parts will be available for this bike until every last one is either totaled or worn out. Just be glad you don't own a ZX-11, FZ1 ect... then you'd need to worry about failures. All my problems on my XX have been induced by my own dumb ass." WOW this simply is not true. Honda makes virtually NO parts anymore for my 87' Magna. It seems like more and more parts are getting discontinued every day. My magna as well as hundreds of other 87/88 Magnas are still running very very strong but Honda sems to have forgotten that they ever produced such a motorcycle. Now I have a 10yr old XX and am starting to worry that parts will quickly begin to become discontinued for it it
  17. I have Metzler's on my 86' VFR. I had a hell of a time finding tires to fit it last summer. But the Metzlers are good looking and not too expensive.
  18. My girlfriends dad has this same problem on his 04' haybusa its got HMF highmounts K&N and PCIII. We took to the Suzuki dealer to ask about it, they just shrugged and said must be that pulling 150mph is a work out for the cycle. They thought like was already mentioned. The fuel rushing threw the system at that rate for an extended time could just set off the light. So i doubt it is anything to be concerned with. Actually I had a similar problem in my 98' F150 after pulling 3000lbs of limestone over WolfCreek Pass in Colorado. I drove from Easten Kansas over the pass, and it set off the check engine light. the code read O2 sensor was bad, ends up the truck was just over worked that day. We reset the system and have had no problems since.
  19. If you are trying to use the Clear Alternatives Flasher thats your problem! I blew fuses all afternoon trying to figure out what was wrong. Finally I just put the stock flasher back in and it worked (it blinked really fast) but no blwon fuses. I took the Clear Alternatives Flasher, down to Napa and told em i wanted a Flasher with the same resistance as the CA. They sold me a new "heavy duty" flasher, I pluged it ini and BINGO the intigrated LEDS blinked at a normal pace and didn't blow the fuse. So in short get rid of the Clear Alternative Flasher its crap!
  20. No joke SeaFoam is good stuff my brother uses it in his bass boat (Evinrude 200) and swears by the stuff. I put it in my 87' Magna last year and from Dec to Feb the cycle sat but when good 40degree weather finally came it fired right up and ran like an animal. I had put Stabil in the 86' VFR and it ran like crap threw the first tank. Sea Foam is good stuff. another additive i have used with great success is Chevron Techron. for carb cleaning this stuff cant be beat. My 87'Magna was running poorly and a guy on supermagna.com suggested Techron to clean the carbs and all that other stuff the engine made a really angry growl threw the two tanks of gas i ran with the Techron something was deffinatly happening. after the techron tank ran out i filled up with 91 octaine and that old 87' ran like brand new it had never pulled so hard. so in summary Seafoam= good staibilizer/ carb cleaner , Chevron Techron= really good carb cleaner
  21. Just to be sure the universal handy stands are what works best with the bird. i saw the post with the picture of the suzuki up on the universals but are they what work best with our blackbirds or are the cbr stands what i want?
  22. oh shoot i didnt eve think about having to pressurize the carbs. a very good point! but you all know how it goes mo power is always a good thing!
  23. Alright I've been doing some thinking and am pretty well positive that I m missing out on easy power. I'm betting that over 90mph at anything over 80% thorottle My 97' bird would kick much harder if i had ram air. anyone know if there is a way to get ram air on my 97'. i have never had a chance to look at a 99'+. where is the oil cooler on 99+years? would the ram air from these bolt up to my 97' or is there anything avialible to get ram air on my 97'. thanks for any advice you've got for me
  24. I'm pretty fair with fiberglass and would be willing to give your idea a swing. tell me what you have in mine you can email me at mickey_oneal at hotmail If it has to do with luggage i will probibly pass being that i dont need any luggage and molding up luggage hardly gets me all hot and bothered
  25. and its off! no kidding easy enough i feel foolish asking. I should have just taken ten seconds and stuck my head down there and looked around. The other question I have is it possible to lower the front end of a XX? I only want to go down an inch is it possible to slide the forks up threw the triple? i dont want to use straps cause that seems a little too ghetto i want something a little more permanant looking.
