  1. 1.5hrs and it was done! I removed the tank and airbox and pushed the coils to the side. Thanks for that info on changing them. I haven't ridden it yet because, I have noticed over the few months the clutch fluid really low, so while I was doing the plugs I topped off the fluid. So, I go to start it up and it leans over to the left, I see clutch/brake fluid coming out of the top cover, I tightened it up, and it still leaked, took the top off and cleaned it, cleaned the rubber diaphram and put it back together, STILL LEAKED!!!! An hour of messing with it and still leaking I called my mate at Honda, who pulled it up on the computer, apparently the plastic inside cover is MISSING!!!!!! I guess that's why it was always low so it never leaked!! Ordered from Honda, should be here Tuesday!
  2. Remember, RENEW all bearings, including the swing arm ones too, and GET ALL THE BEADBLAST OUT of everywhere, because if you don't you'll be replacing the bearings within a few weeks of the rebuild. Here's some pics, the color is Sparkle Silver, if you want the same color just ask your local powder coat company about it, it's base coat then laquer. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v509/fee...il/100_0023.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v509/fee...il/100_0024.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v509/fee...il/100_0025.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v509/fee...il/100_0026.jpg
  3. Guess what I'll be doing this weekend then!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  4. I'll post up the wheels this week, Phil.
  5. I had my wheels and swing arm powdercoated, (sparkle silver) very very close color to the silver on my XX, no problems putting it all back together again. AND LOOKS AWESOME.....
  6. 02 XX, I am currently using Michelin Pilot powers of which I really can't fault..... except they wear out really quickly, I was thinking of switching to continentals to see if they are better, Roads here in Louisiana are 90% straight so the middle wears out really without using the sides, I was up at Deals Gap (N.Carolina) I used the hell out of the sides........ So what tires should I go to? or just put up with the wear factor!!
  7. One of my mates in New Orleans has a 37 tooth back sprocket, it's slower than mine on acceleration, but he goes past me about 160 and carries on!!
  8. Call your attorney, the local Constable office will find and serve him.
  9. OK, put the new CCT in (2 green dots on the side) and it clears about 80% of the noise, I guess it might need shims then?
  10. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v509/fee...lsGapsolo-4.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v509/fee...lsGapsolo-5.jpg SPARKLE SILVER.
  11. I've beem searching thru the site and found issues to do with the CCT, I guess that might be it!!!
  12. I got my XX with 17K on it, it's at 28K, 02 XX. At 19K I changed the CCT with a new Honda one. Problem:-.......... At 3K revs it's rattling really really badly, I took of the fairings and it's defianatly coming from the upper right side, like the camchain is striking something. Above 3K it goes away, if I rev it quick it sounds awful, I just noticed the sound today after I replaced the drivetrain. Could the CCT have gone out????? I took the 8mm bolt out and GENTLY wound he screw to the right, I can still hear the awful rattle!!! On Idle, it sounds normal, any ideas before I run it down to Honda????????
  13. I bought a new chain................. Problem solved!!!!!!!!!
  14. I get my oil/filter at cost from Honda...... $17 give or take...
  15. the fairing stays on, just un do the bolts and they should slide right out, if they don't, get a flat head screw driver and GENTLY prize open the slits (that clamp together) and they should just fall out!
  16. I have 28K on my 02, I hear a little tapping, I think it's the shims... Does it need to be done???
  17. Could the sprocket need more space on the hub??? as It's a very tight squeeze to (rubber hammer) it on!!
  18. I just had my wheels and swing arm powder coated and the chain and sprockets that were on it (28k) were ok but I had a 1999 set with 3k on them from my last XX. Mine is 02 XX. So! I soak the chain from the 99 in oil for 3 weeks and claen all the crap up from the sprockets. I cleaned the chain up and check for wear, not really banana shaped (hold chain outward) I had the hub powdercoated, the rear sprocket would not go down on the studs due to the thickness of the coating, So I carefully filed out the inside of the sprocket to eventually slide down the studs and tighten it up! I adjusted it properly and it makes a bloody awful wurring sound as I go over 35mph. I re adjusted it, sprayed chain lube on (even though my scottoiler is working properly) that made no difference! Could I have the chain on back to front! ie, going backwards????? The sprockets are in really great shape, I have no idea! help! The noise is driving me crazy! I rode 200 miles today and the noise is still there, and NO! I haven't over tightend the chain!
  19. Mine...............1000-1200 miles.
  20. I Sold a 98 (carb engine) to a guy that had a 2003 XX, he blew the crank, he advised that he tried to put the 98 engine in and bolt up the FI up, didn't happen... He said it does not fit. He ended up taking the crank out and trying it that way......
  21. I checked my purchase on my ebay account, it's an 02 shock!
  22. +1, yes, it's called the control head, it went out on my 01 dodge, easy to replace.
  23. I have 27K on my 02 and the rear shock is OK as far as I can see. I bought another rear shock ($17 fleabay) and it appears that the lower threads which the 2 large threaded nut things go on is a wee bit smaller, not the threads but the length it travels up. I threaded the nut thingys on to exactly the same length and it looks fine, is this an earlier rear shock? Side by side they are exactly the same length (eye to eye) Oh! and I put the 6mm washer on that everyone is raving about......... I cant check to see how it works yet as my wheels and swing arm are still at the powder coaters...
