  1. tonight riding home I noticed my tach and speedo were at zero. Then they would start up again. Then a block for the house the bike starts to stutter a little. Then I hit my driveway and it dies and will not restart. I'm assuming I have a similar problem? Any suggestions before I go nuts????? I have a '99 with 36K on it now, no electical mods etc an LED tailight. Thanks in advance for ant suggestions.... MJ
  2. He he....I see said the blind man! THANKS!
  3. OK.....maybe I'm just slow...... :icon_duh: I did buy them. But they were too narrow to fit into the socket on my 'bird. And that socket just had two wires going into it. I did not see anything resembling an adaptor. The bulbs currently in my 'bird are spaced farther apart than th ebulbs I find at the nearby stores.
  4. So do I need to buy an adaptor to use a "normal" H7 bulb? I just went to the autopart stores around here (New York) and all the H7's were the small width. I'd rather not go get raped at the Honda dealship and would like to "upgrade" to something like a silverstar, etc.
  5. I went ahead and attempted the integrated CBR600RR tailight. I'm happy with the results. In the last picture it is shown with only the rear fairing and undertail set in place. Upon tightening it all down tonight it is a little tight back there, but it all went together. I may remove a little more from the XX plastic undertray during the next dismantle....... Oh, how I hated the ancient looking stock light...... Basically cut away the rear fairing and Pyramid undertail where needed. Use plastic ABS sheet to fill in the gaps from the squoval stock light. Filled the seems in with some ABS mush I made from shavings and solvent, and then filled in any remaing voids with filler. Right now I have some rattle can black on there until I spring for a paint job. All in all: about 3 nights of work.....
  6. Thank you clear alternatives for the wrong bulbs :icon_nono: I swore I checked them......but anyways....
  7. I have modified the back of the bike to have an integrated CBR600RR tailight. I had it all hooked up and working properly last night. I also installed orange bulbs and clear turn signals in front. Today I come outside, turn the bike on, and the turnsignals are always on "hi", and both the indicators remain on on the dash. I disconnected the whole tailight and it stays that way up front. If I try to use a signal, it still "works" by alternanting between hi and low. Any ideas on what to check? Its finally nice out and I want to ride!!!!! There is no wrong way to install the front bulbs, right? MJ
  8. Harbor Fright is the "Dollar Store" of tool shops. If you are a Do It Yourself (DIY) who maybe uses it a couple times a year, buy your tool from there. If it more for your line of work or heavy usage, step up to something better. Almost everything is made over seas, so that is not a consideration anymore, but ther eis a huge gap in design, manufacturng processes, quality control. A lot of stuff does not use hardened steels, follow close tolerances, use higher end bearings, etc. I've been in a chinese factory to see the final step at the factory being a whacking of the tool with a rubber mallot until it sounded right. Its kind of like buying a $80 Huffy at K-mart, $500 Diamond Back at sporting goods store, or a $1500 GT at a pro bike shop. You will get what you pay for, ao you just need to consider how you are going to use it.
  9. After picking up my used 99 two weeks ago, I've been struggling to be around 30 mpg babying it (or at least I think I am..........) with about 2K miles put on it. I haven't noticed much difference though city gets me worse of all scenerios. Supposidly all stock except -1 front sprocket and K+N air filter. During spriited riding on Sat, My light was on and the 'Busa that was with us still had 1/4 tank left....from our last fill up. I don't know why I am so low...nor really care.....yet 8)
  10. I just picked up my '99 XX and it has the Piot Roads on it, I feel a bit "insecure" on them, but that may be because I am getting used to the bike itself still (a whoppin 3 days). I used to run Dunlop 208's on my 600 and never felt like I over extended them. But after 3-4 450+ hard mile riding days they were shot......way too rich for my blood..... I am happy to have a 180 rear now (old bike was 160) so I may partake of the local "race takeoff" deals.......
