  1. I actually wasn't sure if he'd charge shipping . Just checked my bank account and NO tax and NO shipping fee! $153.90 for both shipped to my door. Nice. I'm more interested in going as quickly as possible, especially at the drag strip not so much about top speed, so lowered the gearing a bit with the 47 tooth.
  2. I ordered the stealth versions with the colored alum center section. Craig told me list was $146.95. I told him I was a shop hired to customize a "customer's" XX and he then said he'd charge me "shop" price which was $106.95. Said the one for the XX was going to have to be manufactured since none were in stock for the spec I wanted. Said it would be at least 3 weeks before I received it. Said he had an all black model in stock ( I originally ordered a blue one). He said if I bought that one he'd sell it to me for $76.95. I figured I could just paint the center section the same blue as the bike so problem solved. Plus it would be the exact same color as the bike. I said since I had him on the phone could he see what was available for my 2016 1250 Bandit. So I'm getting one with a red center ( bike is the same red as the '01 XX) and again at the reduced price. Awesome!
  3. After debating between a Vortex alum. rear sprocket and the suggested use of the "Supersprox" item, after some homework on the subject was completed Supersprox won out. A bit pricy, but I was able to make a deal with an employee named "Craig" (763) 255-2536 at Supersprox headquarters . Ordered a 47 tooth for the XX and a 45 tooth for the Bandit. Killer deal of $76.95 each. SWEET! Spread the word.
  4. Ummm, gee, sorry 'bout that. I've been away from this site for so long I still need some time to acclimate myself and get a refresher course on the wide variety of personalities here. As you were..............
  5. Got in touch with Jaws in the UK again after I saw even higher EBC HH pad prices on ebay. Since I'm ordering a windshield from them they gave me a nice price of $90.34 for all 3 sets. She said she'd ship them in the large box the shield will be in so no shipping charge. These are EBC HH pads. Since the bike only has 13,125 miles on it, I wouldn't be surprised if they are the original pads, perhaps the second set. Pretty worn down. Pulled all three calipers off today and cleaned the hell out of them. Got some ugly looking brownish-orange sludge out of them. Yuck. Ordering all new stainless brake lines soon. Figured I'd use what ever type brake fluid Honda recommends. What's a couple hundred more dollars on this project. Geez!
  6. Discovered just today my project '01 XX is in need of new brake pads front & rear. Looked up what OEM ones cost through a discount on line Honda dealer. Jeez, not exactly cheap at $36.10 for a rear set and $36.77 for each side in the front plus shipping. Jaws in England sells EBC sintered (?) pads for $30.77 for each set plus shipping from England. Sintered pads to me sounds like aggressive pads that'll chew up rotors and will possibly cause brake squeal which is unacceptable! Any advice which brand and type is recommended for that OEM feel and performance is appreciated. Stock stopping performance is just fine for me. Steve
  7. Looking to buy a used but complete and readable HONDA service manual that will apply to my 2001 XX. Dirty cover or pages fine, just need to be able to view pics and read. Thanks Steve
  8. Additionally what's nice about these is that if a suitable position can't be had by rotating the pegs as they are now pictured, the extra bracket and hardware gives even more adjustability by not just rotation, but with sliding the peg up or down on the extra bracket. Steve
  9. Obviously, here are pics of the adjustable pegs I removed from my XX.
  10. My most recent purchase of an XX came with aftermarket , alum., adjustable front foot pegs. Excellent condition with an additional section which allows the foot rest part to be even lower if needed/wanted. They utilize the factory spring and alum. pin so they swivel like the original ones. I just prefer stock ones that match the rear ones and besides, at 5'7" my legs aren't long enough to need them. No idea what they sell for new but I figure $35 + shipping is a fair price. I can be reached at ............ slsautorest@hotmail.com Steve
  11. I'm getting parts together to take to get chrome plated. Still need some nice front pegs. And a center stand.
  12. I contacted Pyramid Plastics about this matter and they responded saying they did not make the alum. chain guards. They said PUIG made them. Regardless of who made them, I've pretty much struck out getting one. Guess I'll modify the stock plastic one. I have a few ideas about that.
  13. Thanks John. If you could spread the word on Facebook I might get lucky and find one of those sweet guards.
  14. I've been in email communication quite a few times today with Jaws over in England. I was informed they are in the process of starting a new/improved web site with up to date items and prices. They informed me the metal ( alum.) chain guard is no longer produced by either of their suppliers. The black chrome one shown, is the same design as the one I had on my custom '03 model except that one also had 'CBR 1100XX Super Blackbird' laser cut into it. It was a SWEET and unique guard that I'm very bummed about not being able to purchase for my current XX project. There was even a company called 'Laser Guard' back about 12 years ago that made a variety of alum. guards with different bikes names cut into them. I searched and it would seem they no longer exist. DAMN! As a member of the UK XX site B.I.R.D., I'm going to ask members over across the big pond if anyone has a used one for sale . I'll even check into contacting "breakers" (used parts places) about any possible ones out there. Don't care for huggers so........I'll post any info I come across. Steve
  15. Just found out that the UK company "Jaws" no longer has those nice alum. chain guards available. So, if anyone has a nice alum. aftermarket chain guard for sale please let me know. Steve
  16. After going through my collection of old drag strip time slips, I found the ones from when I raced my custom "Purple Plazma" '03. Only ran it at a full 1/4 mile strip one night (for some reason?). This was back in September 22nd of 2005. Temp was 78 degrees and 77% humidity. With two teeth up on the back sprocket and a full Muzzy (no tuning at all), and a stock air filter, it went 10.615 @ 136.83 mph.
  17. Just purchased a TFI from a member, plus, I have a full Akrapovic system that came with the bike. So Swampnut, if you can lay the best TFI setting info on me along with me utilizing other info listed in this thread (like a K&N filter), hopefully I can see similar dyno results for my '01. Trailer the bike when finished to a reputable shop (GUHL in Ephrata, PA) in much cooler temps, probably in April some time. Love to see 145-150hp at the wheel. With a bit shorter gearing and practice, low 10s would be most welcome. Steve
  18. "Tri-Y" ? Not familiar with that one. DAMN good dyno and 1/4 mile results!! Impressive!
  19. Until my last thread posted here, I wasn't aware of the TFI controller unit. Informed input is needed before I plunk down the green backs on one or the other. For a stock injected XX with a full aftermarket exhaust system, which controller is best performing? Steve
  20. Well DAMN! That's a lot for my simplistic mental capacity to absorb! Thanks to all for that important info pertaining to my query. I will definitely take that input and put it to good use. I know I can make my bike look fantastic, maybe now, I can make it run at it's fullest potential too. Steve
  21. Only had one bike with a Power Commander and that was forever ago it seems. The new updated version is capable of what exactly? If someone here is familiar with how they work or what advantages it provides will help me decide if that's a direction I want to go. My main goal with this XX is to pick up where I left off with Purple Plazma. It'll be my idea of a custom looking, show quality street legal and ridden bike , a bike that'll also do top speed runs and 1/4 mile passes at my local Drag Strip. Something that's a unique one-of-a-kind head turner and show winner. At 63 and "retired", it'll most likely be my last major bike build. Can't wait until next season when it's finished and on the road. I appreciate all the replies and help . Steve
  22. So, what's the most efficient way to get the most out of a stock XX except it having a full system? Power commander? Hit or miss with it myself or pay for some dyno time and a qualified tech to "play" with the PC ? Does a high flow air filter really help ? Had a full Muzzy on my last XX (an '03 model), and no PC and using a stock air filter element. I had a free dyno session with it and a dealership special event and I seem to remember it made 136 hp . I'd think a full Akrapovic would make more power for the bike than a Muzzy. A realistic 140 hp. would be nice. Steve
