  1. In Bangkok mate, many of the garages here are selling both - I've used it (although I usually just get normal 95) with no adverse effects.
  2. Well, the temp and petrol gauges work fine and all the indicator lights too. But the Revcounter and Speedo are both defunct. I've had a rummage around behind the clocks and found an un-connected set of cables, at the end of which was a small 2cm x 2cm PCB, which was dangling around loose. Call me superstitious, but I had a funny feeling this might have had something to do with it. I'm going to check out the manuals I downloaded to see if I can identify the bit I'm talking about. If it is the cable for the clocks, then it appears that the "plug" bit may be missing. Does this mean anything to anyone? Cheers again everyone for the ongoing help.
  3. Thanks Clinton, The bike was imported from Japan (apparently in parts to avoid the horrendous duty here) and (re)assembled. Why buy it when the clocks don't work you ask? Well, it's still awesome regardless Not too sure now thought which clocks it should have :? From what everyone's saying, I may well be able to get the in situ clocks working. The only problem (here anyway) is finding a shop who could sort it out. I'll probably have to sort it out myself but just don't want to fuck the electrics up altogether. I'll keep checking on Ebay too mate. Thanks again. Just a thought, any Bike electricians fancy a cheap holiday in Bangkok? Stay at my house free for a week and help out? Just a thought!
  4. You are indeed correct in your assumptions. Well, I'm even more confused than before. I have downlaoded the manual so, hopefully, it'll help me identify the problem. Thanks for your help.
  5. Thanks for the reply. Sorry if I wasn't clear. Basically, I have analogue clocks on my bike, but I should have the digital ones, with the LCD windows. (Please don't ask how.) So, can I make the analogue clocks (non LCD version) work with my bike? And, what do I need to do with the wiring to get them working? I've looked everywhere (on the internet) to find the LCD instruments to no avail, so I'd like to get these to work in case I never find any! Because at the moment I haven't got a clue how quick I'm going! I'm in Thailand however, where speeding doesn't seem to be an issue! Cheers!
  6. My ANALOGUE clocks aren't the right ones! My '99 XX should have the DIGITAL Speedometer! However, I can't find any clocks anywhere in the world! (BTW I'm in Thailand). So, does anyone know if these clocks can be made to work on this bike? The fuel gauge, temp gauge, indicator lights etc all work fine - just the revcounter and speedometer - are the connections fundamentally different? Any Techies out there who can help? Much thanks in anticipation.
  7. Cheers for the advice with the lights guys. I saw the article you referred to and adjusted the height with a slight improvement in coverage. However, the high beam just seems to brighten the road immediately ahead of you, not further down the road as you'd think it would...
  8. Cheers for the quick reply  Well it just seemed strange.... Next thing is brighter bulbs! Can't see a damn thing! Anyone know a link for the Owner's manual (or someone willing to scan it! )
  9. Has anyone scanned a copy of the original owner's handbook? I'd appreciate a copy or a link to one. I've already downloaded the Workshop manual. Cheers in advance guys. Oh yes. Is this correct? - Low beam is the upper light and High beam the lower? Seems wierd... Bought the bike recently and the upper light wasn't working - just got it back from the shop and I think the dick replaced the wires incorrectly... Cheers again
  10. Thanks for the reply Rock, I think it's a problem with a loose switch/connection - I'll start looking there- thanks again The exhaust is titanium pipes/carbon can made by R's Gear in Japan - The model is a Wyvern (price 198,000 Yen / 1750+ Dollars). I can't seem to post a picture, so I'll post a link: http://www.rsgear.co.jp Translated by Google: http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=e...2005-25,GGLD:en Cheers again mate.
  11. Hi guys, I got a '97/98 (I think) Blackbird recently (Jap import) and I've got a few questions you might be able to help me with. The orange indicator light with the ( s ) on - Is that a sidestand indicator warning? If so, then why the hell is it going on and off willy nilly? Or, if not, should I be worried? Its got a "R's Gear" Wyvern 4-1 system, which from what I can gather, is pretty good (sounds it too). Does anyone have any experience of this system? There's about 24,000 km on it so far (I'm assuming that's accurate!), and it runs great, are there any problems which might surface in the not too distant future? (I'm doing up to about 15,000 km a year.) Thanks in advance guys.
