  1. If you are looking to keep things clean, the Honda HP Chain Lube is the best I've used.
  2. I've put about 3000 miles on my Corbin, and after getting used to the change in riding position, I like it. It did what I wanted, getting rid of the butt burn on longer rides. The two things I don't like, is the weight( HEAVY!), and the wider profile, which they could reduce if requested. I am 5' 8" 150lbs, and I still kind of tippy toe at stops just like the stocker. Even though it is lower, its width spreads your legs. Also thinking of some VFR bars to cut down on the reach. I did the carbon material, and use their saddle cream to maintain. I'm sure this stuff is just something you can get local off of the shelf, just rebottled and marked up 100%. If you get one and don't like it, or sell your bike, they have very good resale value on Ebay. [attachmentid=990]
  3. You might want to check out http://www.tireqwik.com/tireqwik/index.html I purchased the Deluxe Kit with all of the stuff, and it worked quite well. I know at $200 bucks it will take a while to pay off, but it beats the hell out giving my local stealership business. Unless you buy them there, they won't even mount tires. I also found that a pieces of a plastic milk carton folded and doubled, makes great rim protectors. They work better than the thicker ones that came with the above kit, because they aren't nearly as thick, and gives you more room for the tire levers.
  4. I've had my XX for about a year, and the previous owner had used regular 10-40 petroleum oil for 21,000 miles. I did an oil change with Honda HP4 and soon noticed it was making more noise on initial cold start-ups. The noise would only last for a few seconds, and I think it was coming from the clutch basket. I drained it after about 500 miles and put Honda GN4 back in, and it soon went away. Now have 28,000 and all is very well.
  5. Just got home from a 200 mile interstate ride, and got 43 mpg. Reserve light on at 192 miles. This was riding at probably an average of 80 mph. Bike is a 99xx with 26,000 miles, and stock air filter and exhaust, and premium fuel. Randy

    Idle

twolfe- My 99XX has the exact same symtoms as yours. I've had mine for about 8 months and it has about 25000 miles. It had about 21000 on it when I bought it, and I just recently noticed the symtoms you are describing. I have replaced the plugs, airfilter, CCT, and use premium fuel. My biggest complaint is the rough & lower rpm idle just on cold start up. Once it has been running a minute or so, everthing is normal. Like yours, when under 50 degrees, it has died on initial start up, but starts back up, and is fine. Randy
  7. I also purchased a 99 Blackbird about 6 months ago, and replaced the K&N with a stock element, and had the same question. I ended up ordering both the seal under the element and the seal they show between the airbox halves. I used the one under the stock air flilter element, and installed the seal between the airbox halves. But when I tried to put the top back on the airbox, I didn't like the way it fit, so I took the seal between the airbox halves out, because I couldn't get it to pull down evenly. My thought was that the K&N had you take the seal out for their installation, under the element, and the airbox seal was just an error in the parts drawing.
