  1. Glad you got a good price for your bike. I know what you mean by a disturbing experience selling a special bike. My '83 1100F was sold yesterday......I helped load it in the buyers truck and it was pretty damned sad watching it vanish into the distance. But it is going to Texas so I KNOW it will be happy.
  2. No, I don't think so. I purchased it from a man in Fayetteville, AR who had just traded for it from a man in Alabama. The owner from AL was an Army helicopter flight instructor. That has to be the line of the day..."The hole looks familiar". Don't know why I find it funny, but................
  3. Here's the deal. I have a 2001 'Bird wearing the paint of what I'm pretty sure is the 2002 model. However I have no way to confirm that. Whoever repainted the bike did an outstanding job regardless of which color he used. The main cowling has a hole about the size of a half dollar as well as a crack about 3 inches long. I really want to get this repaired, but don't know how to go about it. Of course I can buy the 2002 fairing but what if the paint doesn't match the rest of the body work? Can an automobile body shop repair holes in plastic like this? I'm pretty sure they could match the paint using whatever technique body shops utilize. I've considered using some kind of decal to cover the hole, something like a lightning bolt perhaps but I sure as hell don't want it to look tacky. I'm open to any and all suggestions. Thanks guys, Jim
  4. That ad was also posted on cb1100f.net I'm sure there are some guys that will be scarfing that baby up. I wonder what the inside of the tank looks like. Hmmmm.
  5. Pics removed from previous post so as not to hijack your thread.
  6. Your bike not selling is indeed troubling. I hope it sells for you soon. The reason I find it troubling is that I need to sell my '02 painted 2001. I was hoping to sell it for $3K, but after seeing the lack of interest in your 'Bird there is absolutely no hope of me getting the $$$ I need/want to sell it for. As some of you stated, I DID over-pay at $4400 for my '01, but at the time I WANTED/LUSTED/NEEDED/HAD-TO-HAVE this bike!!! I have enjoyed it tremendously! It is the most incredible bike I've ever owned. Granted, I haven't owned very many hyper-bikes (i did own a ZX-11D for a few months) but the Blackbird is just about the perfect motorcycle for me.............................................................................. then came the knee surgery and acknowledgement of arthritis in both knees. Sad face. After many hours of contemplating whether or not to sell, I have come to the conclusion that it should go to a home where it gets ridden on a regular basis. I have made up my mind that at this stage of my life, I need only one, do-it-all motorcycle. I am in love with the new CB1100 and need to sell my "bird and '83 1100F. I am expecting to do a Barney Frank on the sale of both bikes but they must go. silverbird, I hope like hell your bikes sells soon. The mods you have added make it a LOT more special than my ordinary 2001. Jim
  7. No, it isn't sold. I felt obligated to remove the listing for the time being. Sunday, my g/f and I rode it for a couple of hours and upon returning home, I noticed there was some oil (first thought it was fuel) at the base of the cylinders. I saw a couple drops land there as I was checking things out. It looks like it was coming from the rear of the valve cover. I've got a lot to do preparing for MotoGP vacation next week, so I put off finding the leak till I get back. One thing I DID find out is that I added too much oil at last change. When I checked the oil immediately after noticing the leak, I didn't see any sign of foaming, so hopefully no damage was done. Too much oil.........SHIT!!!!!!!!!! What a bonehead. :icon_wall:
  8. Well shit, Mike. Can't you sell one of them? Thanks for your kind words. It IS a pretty nice old bike..... Lots of Old School Cool. Jim
  9. Here is my craigslist ad, just in case any of you have an extra $3k you need to spend. After several weeks of contemplating and losing sleep over this, I decided to part with my beloved 1983 CB1100F. I am absolutely in love with my 'bird.... As ya'll know, its an amazing machine. http://memphis.craigslist.org/mcy/3131403843.html Jim

    FRONT SPRINGS

What springs did you order; brand; rate? Thanks. Jim
  11. As the subject line(s) states, the key is becoming more and more difficult to get out of the switch. The locking fuel cap is becoming difficult to open as well. What do you guys suggest I use to remedy this? .....and yes, I will listen to all your smart-ass replies as well. Thanks. Jim
