  1. Has anyone played with going down a tooth on the front sprocket? I'm aware of the ratio changes but curious about the results.

    K

    Hi Kev

I put a 18T sprocket on last year & I love it also.

I don't think that I will go back to a 17T sprocket either.

  2. I may try a 16T damped one when I put my next set on to see how they feel :icon_surprised:

Just let us know where you pick that up, okay?

    Hi Joe

Doesn't Honda make a dampened 16T sprocket for the VFR that will fit the Blackbird?

I thought that I had read that here before in the past.

    Take Care,

  3. Looked online and some places say 17/45 and some say 17/44, so I looked in my Honda service manual, and nowhere does it say what the correct number is, but it did have a couple of pics of the sprocket, so I counted, and found 44teeth in both pics. So I'm wondering if the manual was for European models but all it says is printed in the usa. I wish I asked for the old sprocket so I could see for myself what the fuck the right count was. :icon_wall: . all I wanted was a stock replacement.

    rant over

When I replaced my original (stock) rear sprocket, it had a number 45 stamped right into it.

  4. I just installed a Pilot Road rear tire and I'm going to need to replace the front tire soon.

The front is currently a Pilot Sport and I'm not sure if I should replace it with a Pilot Road, or a Pilot Power.

I do a lot of straight line, two up riding so I tend to wear out the centres rather quickly. I think I'm leaning a little bit more towards going with the Pilot Road.

Does the Road offer enough grip for the front or should I go with the Power?

    Thanks for your help.

    Pat.

  5. AFAM is the sprocket that alot of racers use. Very strong, light and reliable, you cant go wrong.

Why are you going up a tooth? I thought a 17t was stock? Are you looking for less power and better economy?

I've used a 17t since I've owned the bike and just wanted to try something different.

The 18t is supposed to correct the speedo and give a little better fuel mileage.

  6. I'm thinking about buying an AFAM20602 18 tooth front sprocket from White Buffalo Racing.

Is the AFAM line of sprockets good quality, better than stock or JT?

    Thanks for your help.

  7. Step 1) Loosen shock mounting nut, or completely remove.

Step 2) Put bike up on center stand.

Step 3) Remove upper shock mounting bolt.

Step 4) Push top of shock out of the way and slide upper mount down & out.

    Step 5) Install washers.

    Step 6) Re-install mount & shock.

    20 minute job.

Thanks alot for you help Northman :D

    I appreciate it!

  8. What Brett said. I did mine when I swapped shocks you basically put 4-6mm worth of washers on the top of the shock mounting bolt, others notched the washers as to not have to remove the shock entirely.

    Hi

I did mine this past summer using the notched out washers method, only to discover that after time they had fallen out. This coming spring I would like to drop the shock & install washers on the top of the shock mounting bolt.

Is it alot of work to drop the shock low enough to install the washers?

    Thanks.

    Pat.

FFT, I recommend using Stainless Steel washers so they don't rust.

  9. I came across this guy from an intercom thread here. I bought a Starcom1 from him off Ebay shipped for less than the street price. He's got good prices, fast/cheap shipping, no bullshit handling charges and great communication.

He had no problem mixing and matching headsets for me. Now I just have to get around to installing the system.

If you're looking for a Starcom at a fair price with quality service drop Keith a line

    Hi Dion

Are you happy with the Starcom1 system?

I'm thinking about buying one for Bev & I.

  10. I have 2 Bros Slip-ons. I found that when you install them, you have to be careful to align them so that they don't hit on the swingarm when the rear suspension compresses. Other friends of mine have complained about them leaving marks on the swingarm. Once I had them mounted I actually pulled them outward away from the swingarm. Other than that they are nice looking pipes & they sound awesome.

    Hope this helps.

  11. Is there a 18t front sprocket with a rubber damper available for a 1999 xx?

I've read that a VTEC 02 VFR 800 16t sprocket will work. Is there a Honda model that had a stock 18t front sprocket with a rubber damper that will fit the xx?

    Please help?

    Thanks Pat.
