  1. John, I understood there is a certain progression in the steps of the bleeding of the LBS System brakes. I would want to know I had done this correctly. I'm sorry, but for me, there should be nothing left to chance on proper function of this LBS System on straight or curve braking.
  2. Off topic....but I have to ask, can we push start our bikes with the dead battery, if need be?
  3. I don't know how reliable the grapevine is, but I heard that the Flying J paid to have some customers fuel tanks pumped out. My truck ran so bad that I would not try and pass anyone on the 2 lane hwy. It does appear that the Sea Foam has corrected the problem. I don't know if it was water in the tank or what. I think I will go up to the station and ask some questions. That was the first time I have ever gotten bad gas at a station. I had noticed the acceleration had slowed on previous fill ups.
  4. The bike is running 225 to 234 in traffic, and it is time to change the 03 Bird old fluids. I wanted to try something like Engine Ice. Engine Ice is already cut 50% with water, and I like the idea of the Bird running cooler, and I need antifreeze protection. Do I need 3 of these half gallon jugs? This cost $21.50 each. Crap, is there a better less expensive way to do this, have the antifreeze protection and help the Bird and me run cooler. Is the Engine Ice worth the bucks? Next I want to change clutch and brake fluids recommendations would be a great help. Thanks, Carl
  5. I am trying to get may of the needed tools for the Bird and it is time for a torque wrench. How about Sears, Harbor Freight, or some place else and how much money? Am I able to do the work with one wrench?
  6. This station is less than 1 year old and is called the Flying J, a truck stop also!
  7. I have talked with other people who said their cars were not runnig well and each of us independently decided to quit using this gas station. It is a new station The Flying J, with the best price, and I still say gas quality can differ as much as different house paints, whikey or beer!!!

    Horns

I have been wanting a Fiamm Horn, how much trouble is it to install, and is rewiring is required? Don't they sound like a GM car horn?
  9. Para, my last and I do mean my last FORD burned with a ignition short. My Insurance brought on a Auto Engineer in fire losses and found out that mine and other 88 thru 91 or 92 F150s had a short. Ford denied the claim only to pay other people off 2 1/2 years after my loss. Ford had a large recall. They gave me nothing. In my book Ford sucks big time and can kiss my ass!!! I was out a lot of money on the loss, over $1500 What a piece of shit!! Found On Road Dead!!
  10. I have been using independent gas stations for the last year or so for my truck and Bird. I burn super for the Bird and mid grade for the truck. My, I have been losing performance in both. I took a trip in the truck, and just made it around another car on a two lane pass. The truck is a 2004 GMC with the 5.3 L. motor and has 19,000 miles. It use to run lots better!!! You folks have been talking about Sea Foam, it was time to try it in the truck and bike. I now get 2 miles a gallon better in the truck, with (17.5 MPG) on the computer. It runs like it use to, with a lot of power. I used half a can of Sea Foam in the Bird yesterday and put 60 miles on the bike. It runs like a scalded ape, with tons of low end power, and through the power band. How much of this power is going to last? Does the Sea Foam increase the octane and how much is clean injectors? I have 8000 miles on the bike. I think I will stay with brand name gas, from now on, the 5 cents a gallon isn't worth savings. How often do you use the Sea Foam?
  11. I used acetone on my boat to remove carpet glue. It worked, I had a fan, outside, under some trees. I lost my voice for 3 days because of it. I'm usually not short on words, but I was then. That stuff scares me.
  12. The compressor and sandblaster are $167 a day plus the sand. I think it would be better to use a pro, if I went that way.
  13. Brett, having tried the Parsons Ammonia Cleaner 100%, with a puddy knife, there is still trawl marks with glue left on the concrete. I am thinking that the concrete is porous enough to allow the glue in. I have tried a chisel scraping with 1 1/4 " blade. I am guessing 12 to 14 hours of this and I still have the glue. I have talked to tile guys that say the glue must be removed for the tile to stick. This is about 144 sq. feet. I had a sand blaster give me a estimate of $225, with no assurances that I could leave it bare concrete. It would save my hands, I want to see if I can rent a sand blaster. This little project has gotten costly!! Brett would commercial cleaner work any better than straight Parsons. Thanks, Carl
  14. The previous owner put carpet on the front porch. I want to tile it. How do I remove this glue to prep the concrete? Sandblast it? Thanks, Carl
  15. I did email Canyon Dancer, and owner Kent Shubbs, got a quick response, and a request to call. Kent was wanting to talk to me, about the problem, and possible solutions, for the binding throttle. I called Kent, a businessman, but more than that, he is sincerely, a devoted motorcyclist, like us. Kent nailed the problem as being....the grip slipping inward with pressure of the harness on a hot day, and having old glue. I had made 3 total trips and had grown fond of the Canyon Dancers, ease of use. The last trip home from OZARXX, causing problems. I did find time to look into the repairs to my throttle today, with the help of a friend, his compressor and glue we remove the grip, and reglued it without any damage to the bike or NEP Throttle Lock. The throttle works great!!! Finding out, Kent lives in Red Bluff, Calif., and that, struck me.....TBME Meet home base city...tellng Kent, he needed to go meet the members.... and yes, join the forum. Kent , you are a businessman, and gentleman, you have offered Forum Members your facility for tire changing, tools, latest road info, bike transport, and I feel.....the shirt off your back, if it would help us, on this meet. I want the TBME Members go by Kent's Facility and introduce yourselves (his request) too... our new member is, Cnyndncr. You will be glad you went by. Thanks Kent, for your friendship! Carl

    Octane question

I have a 03 look at the emissions sticker, top left side sticker of the frame, says 91 RON or higher gasoline. Someone define RON. I have run super most of the time.
  17. I am running the Pilot Powers front and rear, what a good grip they have on the twisties!! I will change to the Pilot Road, when it is time for a rear tire change. The Pilot Powers has about 1400 miles and is showing wear. I understand that the Powers will get 3500 to 4500 miles, the Road maybe double that. Chicken strips won't help the handling of the Pilot Powers. The Roads sound like a good idea with J's thumbs up!
  18. It appears that the throttle is binding both ways, but the binding is harder on the return (or lack of the return). I will check this out today. Thanks for the assistance. I will start with the NEP. We middle aged (cough, cough) folks, still need the pickups to assist us, in hauling gear, I was trying to bring vital supplies, to help feed the troops. It is hell getting, a little older, I slept thru the fireworks at the Traveler Inn Friday night!! The place didn't burn, it just smoked.......a little. I what to tell you, I enjoyed ever minute of time, riding and meeting you guys and gals. There are some nice roads in the Ozarks!!!
  19. [attachmentid=1036]I made it back from OZARXX and rode the bike today. My Canyon Dancer has damaged my trailer queen. I have to return the throttle by twisting it back in place. I could have put the NEP Throttle Lock in a bind. Would anyone know what know WTF I did.
  20. Thanks for your replies. These are good tires!!!
  21. I just had my new Michelin Pilot Powers put on today, and I like them. I am still going to scrub them in for a few more days, before riding them harder. They were set up with 38 lbs. in the front and 42 in the rear. They ride nice with the 38 in the front, a softer front end ride, and do give you more confidence than the old Battle Axe factory tires. Is this a ok pressure, or do I need to go up to 42 lbs? What about long distance rides, do you need to go higher. Thanks, for you help on this!
  22. Airborne's standard mouse traps with crunchy peanut butter. I like the larger rat traps, it can kill both rats and mice. They can be a problem at times. Good hunting!!
  23. Steve, the Audiovox Cruise Control Instruction is super. pictures also! I have seen instructions on many of the other bikes out there, but they still had me scratching my head about the CBR1100XX install. You have put a lot of efforts into interpreting all the other instruction for the other bikes, making the modification for our Birds, installing the Cruise Control and given us written and photographed version. Now I thought just finding the Cruise Control was going to be the hard part, till I got to looking at the install! What a cool farkle this will be! Incredible work! Thanks, Super Steve!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 24. I wanted to say many thanks for all of your input on new tools to purchase. After writing the post I did remembered a old set of metric tools that I had in the garage, 20 years old. They are a old set of Western Auto Tools. I remember breaking 2 sockets on one project......and buggering up my hand in the process. Those tools had lots of play in them, and the weren't case hardened. I think I will continue to let the Western Auto Tools remain lost.....it's time for a quality set. Decisions, decisions. you do pay for what you get. You guys have pointed out some good brands to check out. Thanks, Carl
  25. I need to get metric tools for the bike, allen wrenches, sockets, spanners, and torque wrench, are they quality or should I look someplace else? I have 1/ 4,3/8, 1/2" drive ratchet tools. What is the largest socket needed, 27mm, allen wrenches?, and spanners? What would it be better a 3/8" or 1/2" socket drive on the torque wrench? Do I need a inch pound torque wrench? Does any store have specials? Thanks for your ideas! Texhoss
