  1. it's more of a flatter profile, Ok well check, money order cash or $50 to my paypal scmyattb1@comcast.net and if you want both make it $85, remember the speed pants tex/leth are 38's the all textile HT's are 36" let me know . I will take the ht's if still available. Let me know and I'll PP. Ship to 79758 cheapest way. Mail Ok.
  2. sts turbos do a search on STS turbos on here too. Also some youtube videos.
  3. I would say that failure on the bearings are rare in typical motorcycle terms. Now proper maintenance is not. The bearings are hardened and if correct adequate.
  4. I will say even if the battery is bad, the starting numbers of voltage will tell you it is bad. it should not drop below 12 volts. if it does you have done a load test. Cells on a new battery will short also, right Phillip?
  5. The rear axle on the 14 is bigger. The mount on the swingarm for the linkage is wider than the xx. And not as long. I think that you could have used the xx shock and linkage but would need some spacers or to cut down the mount on the arm. I think there is a difference on the zx frame I don't know about. Chad, I did nount the zx wheel and mount and caliper to the xx arm. But, I told you that. I would think that a sleeve inside the zx mount and it would fit the xx axle, and arm fine and give you the current calliper with the zx wheel. I know what you have and can look at the difference in the xx and zx caliper mount and width. Shoot some pic's. I might be talked into tradeing arms too. I am going to cut one up to build a diff for the quad. Soon. Pm me a number if you want to talk. I don;t think I still have it in my phone, and all my pm's are gone.
  6. One thing that should be said, a voltmeter tells a lot. voltage before starting voltage during starting voltage after starting voltage at higher RPM These voltages are going to tell you almost everything you need to know to diagonse the system.
  7. LOAD TEST!!!!! the battery at autozone
  8. Don't forget the soap and water.
  9. You know the south west corner of New Mexico,,,Right there. There is not much difference with or without the dd's Maybe less without. Remember megaphones. What I have seen, the rich comes from restriction in the pressure wave from improper volume. Too long, and too small. But built for power at a different Rpm. Sacrifices must be made to gain market share reguardless of actual use. World class top speed sells bikes even if never uesd for by those who buy them for that reason. Causes a loss in midrange to get it. So drive faster...or higher rpm. On the pc2 you can help by changing the tp chart to make it think the throttle is open less than it is. but you have to add that back in up higher to keep it rich enough. I think advancing the ign there also helps. Down load the maps and open and print for the different headers and look at the settings in that range. the numbers show which way they make the fuel go. I think the only way to get enough volume to have torque is to double the volume of the collectors by splitting into 2 into 1's No flat spot there. That is what I did on the quad because of the drag and not needing very high speed. I have tried both types of headers. Nothing can push the air resistance of the additional drag so down low is the way to go.
  10. a)So would I b)No, the same. c)35 dollar compaired to 3 dollar. D) see a
  11. Ok, I am back on the computer, at home, got me some coffee. We will get the authority in here soon But, what I have learned from him. Yes, I think that the design of the exhaust is paramount to the flat or dip mid-range. All the fuel or lack does not change it to where it should be in a parabolic curve. Personally, I think that there is not enough volume in the collector that merge the 4 together after the pair come together. Another, is the velocity slows too much. But, I have not tried what I think should be done. Erik's approach is unique and his, and it works, but he will have to expound on it. D&D ,bless their heart, are not a very good performance header. Others are much better at getting the rich dealt with that backup from the resonance. I would try something to see how it works. Being I am not familiar with the construction of the DD, if you can repack, take the packing out of the first half. I would think the dual if you still have it, would be better. Have you ever tried without any mufflers?
  12. without afr no idea no codes not problem remove pc3 iat unpluged rich ...to point of foul plugs sorry criptic at ball game on phone
  13. old bulbs does it at the house all the time change all of them at the same time
  14. idle air temperature exhaust problem
  15. charge and see most auto parts and sears look gor a gel type and get if you can cost more and worth it. Call a battery store like distributer.
  16. photobucket here is a location that you can look at the photos, they are not organized or titled. Running out of time to ride. Enjoy, and comment, and questions welcome.
  17. No Justin, I have two birds, the quad I started in late 02. In January this year I bought a 2001 with bent forks. I replaced the front forks with 2007 zx14 forks. I also changed the wheels, brakes, mastercylinders with parts from the same. I modified the bird arm to accept the rear wheel and brake too. The only thing left was the swingarm and shock and I ran out of time to do it and make the Ozarxx meet. This would give me a Redbird with current technology in the forks, wheels, brakes, etc. Now the quad is getting the xx swing arm and a differential from a Servicar. But, that is another post that is comming. Pictures in a min. Then ride.
  18. Had to add 8 links I think, but the sproket that came on the 14 arm is a 41 tooth I think. So was less than 110 by 4 so you will need a 114 or so. I can count to make sure cause that is from memory this morning. The arm came from a 07 off ebay, and perfect with shock and linkage. everything I get is a good buy, from there. I would have to look but I think about a 100. I need to link the photos, I shot enough, and need to down load some more. Will get them up in a little while.
  19. How much do you weigh and what is in the bags weight wise.
  20. Yes it fits, but it does take some fabrication to get the zx14 linkage to work as well as the shock. But, not much. Basics first. The swingarm bolts on. No modifications. The top shock on the zx is about .020" to wide. The roll pen can be sanded on a beltsander to make the correct width easy enough. The linkage for the 14 is to wide to fit the xx frame, by .100". I took the roll pen out and the seals and sanded down and used the roll pen from the xx and the seals as they are the same size. No big deal. The shock works fine and clears fine in the position it ends up. But, the overflow for the radiator is in the way of the resivor on the shock and has to be relocated. I put it on top of the motor and it works OK. but not sure what I am going to do with it permanet. The last thing is a bit hard and does have to be fabricated. The links that go between the swingarm and the shock link are too long by 2.900" to get the same location that the rear wheel is off the ground to start with when it is on the center stand. and it is to hard to cut with a saw. They are steel but Damn hard. They grind well with a cutoff so that is what I did. They are not straight But have a bend and I tig welded long ways not around. They need to be strong. The first ride, I think the ride was much smoother. The shock worked well as it was setup. You can tell that it is longer when you ride it even though it is only two inches. I did pictures, and will post them.
  21. The rotors grow with heat different than the carriers. Most of the time they are different materials. That is the reason for the pins, or buttons. Look to the race type rotor manufactors for information. I know that there are buttons that are replaceable, type. If the wear is on one part or the other or the other needs to be looked at. Only then will you know where the problem is.
  22. Still sound like a hick too. Even though I have a alterego. Miss you too, my friend.
  23. Will need a jackshaft. I have 315 on mine and a 11.5 rim. O wait that is on the quad. Different kind of jackshaft..... you know we should get out of this thread,,the cock might not like it... I will start a swingarm thread in the gayrage for the zx shit But if you don't find one Cock PM me and I might trade you mine before I cut it up . But you will need a 6 inch zx wheel.
