I shoulda added a to the end of my post.... as my bar set up is actually on a '99 VFR. Sorry guys! It sounds like JuXXtin has his set up now... and I know he has a camera! Hey JuXXtin! Get cracking with that camera!!
-
Should I take a pic of my VFR bar set up?

What are you using to monitor voltage? I used my 8500 detector for a voltage monitor, but I hear they are usually incorrect. It usually ran around 13.7 to 14.1 on the FJR, but it would jump around all the time. I figured if it didn't drop dramatically things were working ok.

Cool mod... I wonder if something like that would work on the viffer. When I had my ZRX, you could mod the underseat big enough to hold a gallon of milk if you had pod air filters on the carbs.
-
Holy shit... that air filter looks scary! I get pissed when I have a few fins out of alignment... having a filter smashed like that would throw me into fits. Hopefully with that and the oil level correction it will fix your problem. Riding behind you took me back to the days of my '74 Merc Comet... that fresh burning oil smell!

Here it is... still mounted to the FJR rack... How does $20 +$5 shipping for just the plate sound? -

I have a monokey mounting plate... it came off my FJR. Its not like the one pictured, but it just mounts with a couple regular bolts to the FJR specific rack. If you might be interested, I can drag it out and take pics of it for ya. I would be willing to cut ya a deal on it too -

Make me an offer, everything has a price Needs an oil change though... $5 $25 if you change the oil first. Trade you a 94 BMW R1100RSL for the chicken...... Let me rephrase that.... make me a reasonable offer! I'll sell you the extra set of lug nuts I have for the aftermarket wheels for $25... Aw man, I was trying to get away from the old fogey image when I sold the FJR... a Beemer is WORSE! LOL -

Huh, thats exactly what I wanted to do on my VFR after seeing Redd's cases at Rednexxt. I still haven't got around to calling the guys she got hers done through. And +1 to Redd shaken 'em!!

Ok, so I recently acquired a '99 VFR from a local guy. He was a member of the VFRDiscussions board and has a post over there about his work on the charging system on his (now mine) VFR. I know the 3 Honda bikes I have most experience with... VFR, VTR, XX... all seem to have similar rectifier and charging issues. Just thought I would bring this up to you guys... click the link for his "fix".... Beef up the wires! He only ran the bike like this for about a month before I got a hold of it, so it isn't known if this is a true long term fix. It does take care of the voltage fluctuations though.

+1 Mine are still waterproof after 3 seasons and they breath extremely well without the liner in.
-
Thanks Jeff... I'll try the scotchbrite approach... its real cheap! The brushed look would be cool.

I picked up a set of used Hindle polished aluminum slip-ons for a great price for my Superhawk... They have a few somewhat deep knicks/scratches around the Hindle logo as well as normal wear and tear scratches. Polishing won't get rid of the deeper scratches, so any ideas on what I can do to get rid of/cover them? Powdercoat? Rhino liner? I'm all for going black on them... Just wanted to make sure powder coating was gonna work.

Are you gonna stick with the Powers or try something else?

Bruce, Get a hold of Escort, 1-800- number in the manual or online. I had to get my passport fixed cause of a "service required" message. For $60 they refurb/recalibrate the thing for you. I would think the audio problem would be part of the fix. Do'h!! I guess I should have read your reply... anyway, it was only $60 when I had mine done a couple months ago.
