  1. ok let me give you the whole problem maybe I can get some better answers. But I'd still like to know what the reading should be. The bike keeps blowing the main fuse. I've traced it to either a short in the r/r or a short in the key switch. If anyone would like a closer look at the schematic here is the link http://www.surfmaine.com/rebel/manuals/cly...al-diagram.html I'd appreciate any thoughts on this problem. This thing is so simple in it's wiring that its kicking my butt. Oh if this helps I think it could possibly be the starter as well as it seems to drag slightly when disengaging. I haven't been around when a fuse has blown although I see it shortly afterwards in my garage again. thanks
  2. How do you check a regulator. What are the readings I should be seeing on the meter. Oh this is not on my bird its on a honda rebel. trying to help a buddy out. thanks guys

  4. That is unless MaXX makes a post. I love that little running dog but damn dude make it smaller. I'm already running 1024X768 and I still have to scroll with his posts which for some reason makes everyone elses post exceed the normal scale size....... So I feel ya man. really I do.
  5. Wouldn't the amonia in the windex hurt the clear coat. I know you can't use it on window tint. If not the clear then the plastics? I've also been told by an old paint and body man that Dawn liquid detergent will take off old wax. I do this about once a year on all my vehicles. works great to get all that build up off. As for pledge I'd have to see it to believe it. Zaino is really expensive. I've seen it used and it is awesome. Fully senthetic and doesn't leave a build up like wax. It is actually better the more you put on. Some awesome stuff.

  7. Does lowering the tire pressure help in the rain on these tires. If there are not good in the rain I'll be looking for something else. It rains almost every afternoon here...... I need some input....
  8. Honda polish. Is there a better alternative. It's pretty cheap does an excellent job. and requires little effort. What do you use as a wax/polish for your ride? I've used meguires three step wax and polish (looks great lots of effort) Meguires detailer spray ( leaves a slight residue on black but looks great on most everything else) And the old stand by Turtle Wax (Looks OK but not as good as it should) So whats the best you have found for the Blackbird and please say what color yours is.........
  9. is there anything as good as honda polish? I love the stuff but for me its not cost effective. I have to A: drive 70 miles one way to get it. B: order through mail order C: find an alternative (and mothers detailer spray is not the same) or D: Hookers. I think I'll start a new thread on this.....
  10. well mine does have a slight vibration when in the 4000 rpm range. I'm replacing the CCT (if it ever comes in) and hopefully it will eliminate this. When I got it it was as smooth as silk. Now it kind has a loose feeling. Hard to explain really. Rattle (marble noise). I know it is a chain flopping around. I've worked on to many cars not to know that sound. I just wanted to know if there is (or isn't) an adjustment for our bikes like the st1300. A little fine tuning if you will. Oh my bike is still smoother than my buddies Hayabusa. I about lost my gloves riding it.
  11. I've been riding two up more recently and I am now looking for a new seat of rubbers. How do the Avons hold up with the extra weight of a pillion and gear (saddle bags and such). just wondering....
  12. I've been reading the ST1300 forum about thier vibration issues. They state that the 1300 manual gives them an adjustment procedure for the counter balancers. does the bird have such a procudure. If so how does one do it. I don't currently own a manual but I want one. I have the electronic version but I prefer paper to read. (easier not to get lost). Anyway they all claim vibrations in the mid rev range (not unlike our birds when the CCT goes bad) then they adjust these balancers and all is right with the world. Just a question for the times to tickle the brain..... thanks in advance......
  13. will the 97/98 engine cover fit the 99 and later bikes? I was wanting to get the black covers or have mine powder coated.

  16. ok im interested. :grin: How much did you pay for it? This is one of the only reasons I haven't bought bags yet. I want to be able to go back to original easily. Which givi bags do you recomend? I was looking on the site and saw the deluxe E360. :cool: Is there somewhere to get them cheaper? :grin:
  17. is it right at or about 4,000 RPM. If so it is probably the CCT. Mine does that and I am replacing it this weekend. Let us know how it turns out.
  18. should be a pipe thread. I got one for my mustang "for off road purposes" of course. I think I got it at NAPA. Any good hardware or automotive place should have a plug to fit.

  22. see I knew it had to be something simple.
  23. you know I was going to be a smart ass and say check the kill switch and then maybe add to check the fuse too, but then I decided to be nice and let it go....... hmmm.... next time beware I will jump on it.
  24. are your turn signals coming off this box? if not then the only reason your blinkers should even flash faster is if a bulb is blown or not properly seated. you should have one blinker in the rear and one in the front. try that and give us an update.
  25. I have the same sound until the bird warms up, pull the clutch in and it stops. I, on the other hand, switched to synthetic and it got a lot quieter. Try changing the oil, maybe it will help. This was the first time I changed the oil in the bird so I have no other reference.
