  1. E bay item no. 170918859861 contains the relevant details. Here are the photos I bought the bike from a colleague of another member of this forum back in December 2010. I have been totally happy with the bike but it's time to come to grips with the fact that I cannot justify two bikes and my body is aging to where I need something more comfortable for the type of riding I do. I love the Blackbird but have to accept that time and tide wait for no man. Wish I'd gotten into riding many more years ago....
  2. I think this is just a gorgeous bike. I have an '03 with the Beetle bag set up, and have considered having the fairing decals removed. I like the stealthy look it creates!
  3. Test pin box illustrations are showing 130 pins.
  4. If you will look in the fuel injection section and see if the test pin box in several of the illustrations has 60 pins or 130. If 60 then that chapter is what I need. In the old manual on page 5-90 in the TP sensor discussion two pics show the box having rows of pins 13 in one direction and ten in the other. The 60 pin box has 10 and six. Hope you have pics of the 60 pin. Thanks. I will look it up tonight and I will scan those pages and e mail them to you. This is over my head but I am a decent trained seal....
  5. I have the service manual number 61MAT54. What do you need out of it?
  6. Love your bike. I have one very much like it with 8800 miles on it. I had a 2001 Blackbird from December 08 to August 09. I missed it so much I found a 2003 Blackbird with 4500 miles on it in December 2010. I'm keeping this puppy. You'll sell that bike. Seems like a great price. Good luck..... Where can I get a set of those brake reservoir caps with the cool engraving?
  7. yes the wires fit through the ones shown above, A guy here locally machined them. I had 2 sets and one went with the bike when I sold it. I was cleaning out the garage and found these, I don"t have anything they fit so just collecting dust. If no one wants em here will probably Ebay em. I assume this means all stock length wiring fits and that the mirrors fold up as per the stock configuration?
  8. If still available send pics to ndivita@kc.rr.com If not, congratulations.
  9. Great looking specimen of a great bike. I had an '03 which I loved but not enough size-wize to keep me from trading for an FJR. Good luck.
  10. Do you have the mounting hardware? What model year XX are these for?
  11. If it is accident-free, and if it has been reasonably maintained/used, that is a steal for someone.
  12. I have a 2005 FJR 1300 ("the Millenium Falcon"). Last year, I bought for the old girl a SHAD50 topcase with custom rack and mounting plate designed for that model FJR. It works superbly, down to the color matched plate. Real peach. I bought a 2003 Blackbird recently, keeping the FJR. From Twisted Throttle, I buy the model-specific SW Motech Alu Rack for hard luggage mounting and also the specific adapter plate billed as needed for fitment to "SHAD hard motorcases" on the Alu Rack. All according to Hoyle, seemingly. My plan is/was to move the case from bike to bike as I deem necessary or appropriate. I even bought an extra color plate from a SHAD dealer and had a local collision repair shop (about whom I cannot say enough good things) paint it to match almost perfectly the 2003 Blackbird (black with metallic gold flake). The color plates are easily swappable. One case, two bikes; pretty neat, right. Genuine geek-fest underway. Not so fast. Alu Rack fits and looks good on the BB. SHAD adapter plate fits and looks good on the Alu Rack. SHAD50 topcase does not fit the SHAD adapter plate. The three forwad "feet" of the top case do are too wide and not spaced properly to fit into the adapter plate. I am thinking it fits older model SHAD cases, smaller SHAD cases, or something. The folks at Twisted Throttle are investigating but there is no doubt their SHAD adapter plate literature and product description and specifications make no distinctions between which SHAD top cases will mount on it. I don't know if SHAD sells an adapter that works on the SW Motech Alu Rack. SHAD may require their own rack for their own mounting plate. Worst case is, I suppose, to return the SHAD adapter plate for credit, buy another adapter plate for a GIVI or CooCase or whatever else and just have one dedicated case for each bike. I would still be out the $100 it cost to have the second color plate finished to match the Blackbird. Bummer. While a bummer, these are the kind of problems I want to have in my life. Ideas and thoughts welcome.
  13. I have an '03 Blackbird which I just bought. It has a relatively new battery in it and a mere 3200 miles on the odometer. But I wonder, are the stator and regulator issues with this bike a function of time or mileage or both?
  14. Don't want to beat a dead horse but it goes up on centerstand and there is a little bit of free rotation. It does lean over a bit further on sidestand too. My peabrain tells me that as the new tires break in and they flatten out, there will be more space between the tire and the ground on centerstand. Strikes me I need to use more diligence in where and how I put it on sidestand. My habit is to use the centerstand whenever and wherever I can. I don't trust sidestands as a general matter unless I am pointing distinctly uphill. Life is full of tradeoffs so I am assuming the handling improvement is worth all this. :icon_think: It's not like I am some super-aggressive canyon carver.
  15. Oh, Christ, here we go. :icon_wall: Disclaimer to my original post- the actual amount of space beneath your rear tire while on the center stand may vary dependent on several factors, which include, but are not limited to- brand and model of tire, size of tire, wear on tire, levelness of the surface motorcycle is placed upon and exact thickness of shim installed. With all these variable in mind, it is a fact that your rear tire will be closer to the ground while the bike is on the center stand after the installation of any shim. Happy now? Didn't mean to kick the lid off of anything. The problem is that I am more or less Ziggy when it comes to things mechanical. Between the new tires and the grubby garage floor and the lumpy, angled driveway, and the new shim, I am getting the feeling from this that what I observed is within the range of "normal" variability. Sound OK?
  16. I did notice that. I forgot to mention that I had a new set of tires mounted as well. PR2s front and rear. This is reassuring, so I thank you. I took it for a quick spin around the neighborhood and noticed it does seem to lean in easier. God do I love this bike. Thanks again....
  17. A 6 mm Bikebits shock shim has now been installed on my Blackbird by my dealer (with whom I am generally pleased). Now, when the bike is on center stand, the rear tire just barely comes into contact with the pavement whereas without the shim the rear wheel of course rotated freely with stock clearance. Dealer said this is to be expected as the rear of the bike is now taller. Does this sound right to you? I know my dealer will make it right, I just want to know if I need to investigate further.
  18. I found the answer to my own question. http://www.cbr1100xx.org/forums/index.php?...st&p=700957
