  1. Thanks!

    Smoke free since Tuesday

    Soda free since Tuesday.

Drinking a lot of water and trying to eat sensibly and eat healthy snacks.

226.8 was my official weigh in Tuesday morning.

    Target is 190.

36 pounds. First goal is 9 pounds and then go from there, 36 pounds will not only get me to my target where I can reward myself, it will also save my about a grand in suspension work on the Trumpet. The bike is currently sprung for a 185 pound rider.

    I'm holding at 240...

  2. .....What I'm about to say is either due to me being a Gemini or having second thoughts about selling this bike,....

.... As most of you know, this is one of the finest motorcycles ever produced, and it saddens me to sell it even though I can not ride it comfortably for more than a few minutes......

    Jim

Have you considered raising the bars a bit and getting peg lowering brackets? You'd really be surprised.

  3. I've heard that, but I'm not sure why. The stator/rectifier produce more power than the bike needs and maintains a charge on the battery when running. I'm not sure being in constant "charge mode" hurts the system. It might be that a dead battery can be the result of a faulty stator/rectifier which can under/over-charge the battery and make it go prematurely. Hence why you test them every time you need to get a new battery.

I have not usually checked those items. I will make a mental note though.

  4. ...to know is already in another thread.

I just had a beer for breakfast. I'm going to a family get-together on my wife's side of the family later today. I have to go in to work tomorrow to catch up from my trip.

Sometimes it's not about the actual repair.

My family wanted to ride the bikes to the event today. I have some fixing to have enough for everyone.

  5. Looks good...but are they laid on dirt or did you put any material between?

Right on the base soil. it's not long term. We're planning on a new driveway once the kids finish college.

If I intended it to last a long time there would have been a few inches of base and plant barrier,

  6. First real ride.

Circumnavigated Lake Superior. I'm very happy.

I got a mild flat spot started in about 1,600 miles. The roads generally lent themselves to even wear I'd say. I got to lean in the corners a lot.

Can't comment on rain performance. It was dry and 75 degrees most of the time.

They make a cool deep thunking sound when they're kicking gravel out of road topping in construction zones BTW.

  7. A friend needed to get rid of some old pavers. I borrowed a trailer and brought them home last fall.

This week I went and got an inexpensive Ryobi skill saw that I could trash cutting custom shapes out of a few of the blocks.

My middle son ran the roto-tiller to loosen up the soil a little for leveling and my wife marked off some kind of crop-circle thing for an outline.

We used small wood stakes and string to line up the edges. We removed about 1-1/2" of soil and started laying pavers.

I cut a lot f pavers and that little Ryobi kept going like a trooper.

My son invited a few of his friends over to help. Afterward we had brats on the grill and pasta salad.

It was a fun project, but I was beat.

Junior was pretty proud of the results I think.
