It my 30+ years wrenching and buying beaters I don't recall replacing a turbo or finding a turbo related failure.

This may be apples and oranges but I have known of turbo failures on diesel pickups/dumps.  I can't say if it came from lack of maintenance or added tuner or just worked hard.

  2. I got it out tonight and I'm not sure it wasn't the one I already changed.  Couldn't find any markings on it at all.  The pin was a lot smaller than I remembered and I tried some different screws a little while but noticed there was a tiny tiny bit maybe a 1/32" raised above the hole and the screws had spread it a little.  Using side cuts and some patience it came out.  Thanks everyone for the suggestions.

What do potatoes taste like to you (as far as flavorful or not)?  I think yellow potatoes are prominently flavored, and whites are nearly flavorless, with the avocado being about the same as the yellows in flavor level.  I think that's why people use basic white potatoes as just a holder for butter and salt.  The yellows taste fantastic without the junk.

You know what tastes better than tators or avocados?  This, it was soaked in Smoky Applewood marinade for 24 hours and cooked on the grill tonight.  😁

The Ford 7.3 gas engine is NOTORIOUS for cam issues.  And that's a brand new engine.  I don't know if it's the cam or the lifter sheering off/roller/whatever but something is failing internally and it's happening under warranty regardless as to how well you maintain it.  Guess all those Ford fanboys talking shit about GM's AFM lifter failure is biting them in the ass 🤣

The 7.3 gas is all they have at my son's work and they love them and no issues.   You never buy the first year of a brand new production and from what I have read, any issues Ford replaced the engine without question.  Don't buy a 2021-early 22, new shouldn't be a problem from what I understand.

Their inline 6 Cummins offering is very good.

Not that it matters here but my son was just telling me that he spent the last weekend changing a cracked head on a Cummins for a friend.  I jokingly said that the Dodge was supposed to be so good and he didn't agree because of how many he has fixed with serious engine troubles.

True.  The challenge is to limit the amount of expansion while getting good "bite" with the threads.  I don't know what material the roll pin is made out of, if it's a spring steel that approach probably won't fly.  But I have seen this be successful before, specifically the same arrangement holding a distributor gear in place.  The roll pin isn't usually in with a lot of tension (unless yours is rusted/corroded).  The distributor we at least had on a bench, I don't envy your predicament.

I did find a tool (I'm NOT getting) that works on the principle you were talking about.  $133

My other thought was a small drywall screw (very hard steel, but brittle) to engage only the roll pin and then the puller of your choice to pull the pin out.

The thing about spit roll pins are as you insert anything inside, they expand to grip even tighter.

That's a pretty dumb design for using a roll pin. Clearly the engineer didn't ever want it taken apart.

Couldn't agree more.  Drilling from the other side while under the car and getting it to line up would be a long shot and wouldn't save much from just drilling the pin.  It's a 70's Ford.  While most of the stuff is very easy to work on some of designs were not as good as later stuff as far as function.

I'll get it out, I was just thinking maybe someone had I trick that I haven't heard of.

Ok stupid question maybe but why are you trying to drill it out instead of using a roll pin punch and just pounding it through?

If you read my first sentence, the pin is in blind hole, meaning there is no other side.  It has to come out the way it went in.

  10. You guys have any tips or tricks for removing a small split type roll pin from a blind hole?  It locks in the inner tie rod on a rack and pinion.  I changed one some years ago and broke many drill bits trying to drill it out and now have to do the other side.  If I remember right it is about 1/8", no more the 3/16".  Keep in mind this will be done laying under the car.

They have some taste but I never eat them without flavorings.   Yellow ones have more flavor to me also.  Some seem to have a little dirt taste.

    Was it ripe?

Was it a good species, or a bland one?

Was it a decent quality single fruit?

I've never heard anyone describe avocados in general as having no flavor.  I know people who find certain species to be flavorless, and I find those same ones to be super light but ok.  Not my preference.  Was the skin more like a glossy and smooth one, or rough and not glossy?  Was the texture like a cooked squash, or harder/softer?  Any brown parts?

It was firm when I got it, after reading up about it, I waited to feel a little difference when palming it and the top nub came off without issue. Yes I think it was ripe without being over and no brown inside.  Don't know the species only it was from Mexico with rough skin and not glossy.

88 cents at Walmart.    The texture before cooking was creamy/buttery but not mushy.  It wasn't bad but I don't understand how someone like yourself that likes extreme hot smoky flavors enjoys these.  BTW-my wife also confirmed my thoughts on it so it wasn't just me.

Spice it up with a tortilla, guac/avocado, some beans, and some hot sauce.

I couldn't find where we were talking about it but I have never tried a avocado.  Well I bought one and from a taste standpoint, can't see the draw.  It taste like creamy nothing.  So I took half, sliced it thin with the skin on, sprinkled it with Nu-Salt, pepper and garlic powder and baked it until it started to turn brown. It was so so.  Took the other half, sliced it the same way and sprinkled it with Tony Chachere's Creole Seasoning, baked the same and it was OK.  The skin pulled right off and it was kind of like eating a spicy french fry.  All in all, can't really see the excitement.

Joe, you have to pull the plugs anyway to change them

    Quote

Motorcraft plugs that were purchased from one of the local parts houses.  Marty changed them before I bought it, he said they looked original, as in corroded as all get out, and the lower plugs were worse than the uppers

The only thing that jumps out to me is, over and over again on the Ford forums, only use OEM Motorcraft coils, any others can mess with you.
