my chain is about shot along with my rear sprocket.
So how many miles did you get out of your non steel sprocket?
-
Find your local tree hugger and throw them in his yard.
I think most tire dealers will take them for a buck or two.
-
Does it have that new nut type masterlink EK came out with?
I would like to see a photo of that.

Removing your swingarm to replace a chain is like pulling the motor to change the sparkplugs IMO.
I have worked on some cars that it seemed it would have been eaier to pull the motor.
-
If the disk itself is loos on those brass like circles that they attach to, you'd be better off replacing.
Aftermarket will definately be cheaper, but you can always just replace it with a used one.

Is this an endless chain? So do I have to remove my swingarm?
Pick any link you want, grind the head of the pins off it so you get it off. I don't think the factory chain has a link that looks different.

I have a 99 bird that I recently purchased that has a lot of drivetrain backlash.
They upgraded the crush drive rubbers in the rear (not sure which year it started) but I put the new ones in and it did make a difference.

At 300lbs,
Pick any tire, you are not going to spin.

Which would be best for the dragstrip?
D208, D204, D207 or Pilot Sport.
For the dragstrip, the 204 is pretty sticky. I didn't think that they even made that tire any more. Drop the pressure down to about 25.

I once jumped a bike from a car using a lamp cord. It worked fine. I was 500 miles from home.
-
I dropped 1 in front, two up in rear
Could you use your stock lenght chain?
-
The YOSHIMURA slip ons arn't too loud and weigh about half of stock

I am considering going back to a dual exhuast setup.
Why, just for looks?
-
They say that 1 down in front is the same as 3 up in the rear. So I guess it will be a little less than doing the front.

The AC filter I saw, blew up! Side split.

If you replaced the battery and it works, well then I'd say you fixed it. I don't quite understand...
I didn't think it was the battery so I spent hours tearing into the bike. Always check the easy things first, OK?
-
I guess my whole point was to make sure it's not the battery before ripping into the bike.

I'll tell you a little story so if it happens to you, you will know what not to do. Rode my Goldwing, everything was fine. Two days later, turn the key on, all good, lights on, hit the starter button, POP, all lights go out. Dead. I thought it must be the main fuse (there are two of them). They were good. Getting 12.8 volts at the battery and across the main fuses. On the othere side of the bike is the fuse panel and relays. Almost no power there. Everything is totaly jammed in a Wing and there are a million electric gizmo's. I called my son (he's a mechanic) he checked some stuff after ripping more stuff out just to get to things. Then is says"just for fun, put a battery charger on it". I said no way, we are getting 12.8 volts. So I did and the lights came on but wouldn't turn over. Put the big charger on, it started to turn over. Put a new battery in it today, started and ran perfect. He took the old battery to work and put it on the checker and it wouldn'd even show that it was connected (junk). In all my years messing with cars and bikes, I have never seen a battery do this. Something must have shorted in it but how does it still have 12.8 volts? Sorry about this being so long but maybe it will save someone some grief someday.

yep. wd-40 works best.
So, you are saying that you use 40 weight?
To tell you the truth scott s. people on here use all different weights and there doesn't seem to be any failures. So use what you think is best.

Some years back, I watched a guy get a oil bath when his AC Delco oil filter blew up on his chevy when he had his head under the hood. Kind of cool, really.

And generally they are easier to pull/hold not as good for racing but much better for general riding or Long distances.
Not good for drag racing but seems to be good enough for Nicky Haden.

I know many people who use Fram. I used Fram also for many years. Never heard of anyone that I know that had any trouble from using that filter. I do use the Honda now but I wouldn't lose sleep if the Fram was on now.

Do we just toque it down again and just ride it??
Yep!
edited to add: as long as it is the right sprocket.

Something wrong with your left hand?

When you put a heavier spring in the front, does it raise the bike or do you have to cut the spacer to keep it the same height?
