I am pretty sure that you will need a longer chain. Unless you drag race, I think it will be over geared. The chain at some point will drag on your center stand but I'm not sure if it is with the 48 or not.

Would using a smallish impact wrench be taboo just for removing it?
It would work great though I didn't think it was a big deal getting it off. A lot easier than some lug nuts on car wheels.

Why would you want FI? Those guys are always complaining about this FI light coming on, that FI light coming on.
I like my carbs, they work great. -
Anybody who has worked at a manufacturing plant knows that it wouldn't be to hard to get something that just isn't perfect. Most plants are happy with a 97-98 % of good product. Well someone has to get the other 3%. :cry:

You can easily get it up by by chopping the throttle at 6,000 and then wide open but I remember the first time that I rode my 97. It didn't have much gas in it but I just rolled on the throttle to wide open and the front end just started coming up. I never had a bike that would do that before. Great feeling.

Yep, you are right. I think that is why Honda changed it, to give the bike more torque at a lower rpm while trading off the higher rpm charge of the older model. So, would you say that you like it better?

What does changing the fork oil height do? Yes, I know that you are changing the air gap but will adding more oil act like a stiffer spring or what?

Have you thought about the BT 014? They should last longer than the 012 and they stick good for me.

I borescoped the cylinders, and they looked like brand new.
You have a borescope? Those things are not cheap $$$. What would a cop be doing with a borescope?

You can put sand in the Bird and it will still run 100,000 miles.

Do you guys really look at the speedometer? I never do unless I am stringing it out. If I am trying not to speed because there may be a tax collector around, I just go with the flow of the traffic.

From what I have always read, dyno's very from machine to machine. You might try another dyno before giving up. Don't go by the magazine numbers because they are corrected as are the quarter mile times.

I forget, are you carbed? Jetting changes? Exaust? What's your MPG?
97, K&N jet kit, Yosh slip-on's, couldn't care less about mpg, never checked it. To tell you the truth (not blowing my own horn) but this bike has to be the best running carbed vehicle that I have ever owned. No flat spots or hickups anywhere.

If a clutch is slipping, the motor speeds up not 'bogging' down.

When you put a heavier spring in the front, does it raise the bike or do you have to cut the spacer to keep it the same height?

If I were you, I would look for a cheap stock seat. That way, you could try different things to find out what works for you and you don't mess up the factory one.
