  1. Received mine this morning too. The sight of new tires makes me happy, dunno why... Hugo

    ext' warranty?

They did it for me, so I assume they do it for everybody. Hugo

    ext' warranty?

Don't mean to be a trouble maker but when you buy a brand new bike, Honda contacts you by the end of the first year to extend the warranty for 600 bucks (direct from them).
  4. In any case there is still the option of going to the - stickier - 49, if the need arises. Harry, I did take you seriously. Hugo
  5. I still have both front and rear original sprockets (27 kmiles, 11 kmiles on first chain). I think both will go with the current chain. Hugo
  6. I tried to buy a front (45) through my local dealership and they came back telling me that the distributor had that tire back-ordered (with no estimate on when they'd get some). I then went to swmototires.com and ordered a set, the guy did mention that he thought they were the only store which would still have them in stock. He may be wrong but I thought I'd let you know. Hugo
  7. This is as much as a non-issue as it can get (I lane split a lot on California crappy freeways and never had the slightest concern). Hugo
  8. I live in Rapid City, SD. If you are familiar with this area then you no doubt have been in the Black Hills. There are many roads with tight twisties and beautiful scenery. I enjoy taking in this scenery… definitely at higher speeds than the typical cruiser rider. If I wanted to lug along on a cruiser… then I would have purchased a cruiser  I often ride with a semi-organized group of sport bike riders which consist of Honda’s, Suzuki’s, and Yamaha’s ranging from 600 – 1000cc. Many of the riders have complimented me for my ability to ‘throw’ the XX through the corners like a 600 and are downright amazed at the XX’s acceleration coming out of curves and on straight a ways. Some of the riders have also stated that they wish they had the XX’s horsepower as it ‘just walks away' from them. I currently have the stock Dunlop 205’s. I am extremely disappointed with their traction abilities for braking, acceleration, and cornering. Yes, I have ordered a new set of Michelin Pilot Sport HPX’s and cannot wait until they are on my beloved ‘Bird! In my opinion, traction is extremely important for the type of riding that I do - as I know riders who have high-sided due to traction problems (perhaps some rider error, too?). I prefer to have a performance edge – if it means that I only get 2 - 3K miles out of a tire… so be it… I enjoy riding more than I enjoy crashing! Pilot Roads may be good for your type of riding… maybe you should have bought a cruiser instead… so you can enjoy the scenery at a more leisurely, albeit grandfatherly, pace… chicken strips and all (friendly ‘jabs’… perhaps different riding styles?):kicknuts::poke: IMHO… The XX is a beautiful, heavy, and powerful predator… did I mention heavy… which demands that her talons be always sharp or she will eventually bite the hand that feeds her! OK, I don't know how to break this to you: Howard used to race Motocross/Flat track/Superbike and it shows. And I don't mean in a 'sipping a latte at Starbucks, DOOD you are faaaaast, lookie here my bling-bling gixxa' kind of way but in the 'Fuck where is he gone, shaking your head in disbelief'. Don't go there, unless you have taste for embarassement. Hugo
  9. I run 38F/40R and so far I like it (I had less at some point). BTW, the front is toast at 8-9k miles (handles like shit - sort of). Hugo
  10. Get front and back, unless you want to take chances. It may be harmless mixing 'compatible' (which the BT 57 and Avons are not BTW) tires, but it made my bike want to kill me once. Ever since, I don't mix. Hugo
  11. The list says Avon 45/46 - BT 020 - Michelin Pilot Road, but the list says it often, so now the list also says do a SEARCH. Da List
  12. I've had the same symptoms (except that the other pads went within 2-3 kmiles) Hugo
  13. Update: confirmed riveted, no sweat, thanks for the prompt replies. Hugo
  14. Looks like it's riveted, although it is not the original. Hugo
  15. Well, time to be anal-retentive: the chain is a DID 530 ZVM, do you know if it's a clip for that one? Not really willing to take chances on this one. Thanks Hugo
  16. That would be bad, right? Hugo
  17. I am going to check it out. Thanks Randy. Hugo
  18. Hi Guys, I was taking a look at the chain this morning and noticed that one chain link did not have the regular pits on the sides, is that the master link or did I loose something? Other than that the chain looks fine, I rode the bike to work. Thanks in advance. Hugo
  19. BT 010 - 2,500/3,500 miles for a set AV 45/46 - 6,500 rear/9k front - roughly Yep, the Avons do not stick nearly as much as the BTs, especially in the Alaska conditions (coming from a guy who lives in California). I've run the Avons on less than good conditions and yes, the rear will slide. On the other hand on a dry road, they stick more than enough (I've pounded the s.. out of them today exiting corners and they are good), IMO. Hugo
  20. Side note: after 6-7 kmiles, the 45 get a wee bit unstable. Not a big deal, but definitely a step down from new. Hugo

    ext' warranty?

Chad, With the miles you put on your bike, it's a no-brainer (I went for the extended warranty in January). Hugo
  22. What do you expect, they could not order their bikes from the right - Honda - place to start with...  Hugo
  23. Got a rear 2-3 weeks ago, no problem. Does the ZZR use the same size? Hugo
  24. I'll have to re-check but I think I am going to get 9k max from the 45 (front). Hugo
  25. Saved our asses 8 times on that ride? Right Randy? The day after I dropped from the ride, the first CHP I came across car got me. If it were not for that - suddendly attractive - side road, I would have got nailed  . Hugo
