  1. I use 7.5 wt oil and Hyperpro front springs with Hyperpro rear shock spring about 8.5mm spring preload as recommended by Hyperpro factory in Holland(with aftermarket slip-ons and no top box) nice and smooth alot better than stock, well the new Pilot Power front helps too!!
  2. Just ordered a chain alignment tool from Project-One and found Mike very responsive to my emails and helpful too.Nice personal service. I ordered the tool on Fri. night and it was sent Sat and arrived in PA on Mon. A.M. Good service and quick too.
  3. Ill install the spring the way it fits over the plastic collar, so be it, NOW my next question, the manual says to have spring preload set at 10mm(+/-1), to me that means measuring the spring unsprung then compressing it 10mm and installing the locking rings, however after making measurements it looks to me that with the 10mm compression the locking rings will be barely on the shock! Am I misinterepreting something incorrectly? So my question is how much does the spring have to be compressed?? Thanks for the replies to part 1.
  4. Ok Ive got all the old stuff off, shock , spring and all cleaned up.(Im using stock shock) Im reading the manual that comes with the Hyperpro and it looks as though the progressive(tightly wound) part of the spring should be UP(even the printing of the name(Hyperpro) on the spring would be right side up). However when configured this way the stock plastic protector on the bottom of the shock will not fit through the new spring , but when I reverse the spring , that is to say put the tightly wound part down , the plastic protector slides on nicely. The manual that comes with the hyperoro loses a bit in translation it seems to me. I sure dont want to mount it incorrectly, so all the Europeans can just chime in and help, also the North Americans too!! Thanks in advance
  5. Did I miss something? While searching NGK plugs for my 2000(CR9EHVX-9) I have come up with CR9EHIX-9, this is the iridium plug, is it worth getting, my plugs(CR9EHVX-9) have been in for about 20,000KM> and seem to run fine but this year I am going on a few longish trips and dont want to be stuck! By the way the snow is finally GONE here!!
  6. You can buy these same washers from the Honda auto dealer and they are cheaper than the Honda cycle dealer. I have a 2002 Civic and the crush washers are identical!!
  7. Have a chance to get a Pilot Power front for about 50% off from a shop. He said it is leftover from last season, in this part of the country that means from April- end of Oct 2007.My question is how long should a tire be in the showroom , how fast do they deterioate? is it a good buy?? I wont be putting it on till middle of Aug. I am aware of the date stamps on the Michelin tires.
  8. Thanks for the info, ,the above website(motorcycle suspension) is already on my favorites. So I would have to adjust the spring preload on the shock to increase or decrease the sag. I would think that for my weight(192) and riding style( not overly aggresssive, but I do like the twisties) the hyperpro measurements will be very close for the proper sag. They recomend that the forks be raised to 45mm(standard 35.3mm) and a 5mm shim on the rear shock(I have the 6mm shim now) Hyperpro sag measurements are front 25mm, rear 10mm. So I cant wait for the gdamn snow and the cold weather(-15C) here this morning to go!!
  9. Just got my Hyperpro Combi Kit and while reading the installation manual(ITS TOO COLD TO DO ANYTHING ELSE) I came across the static sag set up for the bike , now, I understand how you get the measurements and compare those to the Hyperpro measurements. But how do you adjust the forks and shock to get the proper static sag ie. what Hyperpro recomends??? While perusing the Mityvac manual, they mentioned Dot 5 fluid, any comments on that? or just use what the shop manual recomends Thanks
  10. If you want to add the new washer, go to a Honda auto dealer , the washer for my 2002 Civic is the exact same as the Bird, but way cheaper then the Honda M/C stealer, .69 cents vs. 1.90$ or 2.50$ so I bought a bag full, piece of mind is worth .69 sense!
  11. Thanks, problem solved, yes it does go back with the cover back in place, I didnt want to take the persueder to it Thanks for the info Danny!!
  12. While replacing my counter shaft sprocket and cleaning the area, the clutch push rod pin came out abit far, and now I cant seem to push it back in, Am I screwed or what, Im longing for a simple solution!! Any ideas out there?
  13. Has anyone had any experience with the Deka ETX-12 Power sports Battery or any opinions on this for a 2000 bird??
  14. Glad to hear that the EBC HH pads are the same , front and rear, the company(in Cal) that I ordered from had the same #'s for both, yet Honda has different #'s, sort of had me worried being way up north in Canada, plan on putting the rears on at NeXXt!! maybe even the front
  15. OK fair enough, didnt want to sound like a smart ass!!!! the same in Canada, if you import a bike and it is not of a certain age, you have to change from MPH to KPH
  16. Why would you want to change it? Just join the rest of the world!
  17. I dont need a front sprocket now but for next season I will, already have the rear and chain. Went to the dealer and the parts person had only a kit listed(OEM) that included chain, front and rear sprockets, links for the amazing price of 500.00$(CDN) or there abouts, went to search the microfiche and found that the parts are in a block not seperate. What the f is going on, Im sure I priced the front sprocket(OEM) last year for around 54.00$ HELP
  18. I have Microns and if you search Micron on the web you can find some English blokes that have some sound clips with slip ons, also try the European BlackBird site, I think you can find them there also, they are quite amusing, Im not sure if they are really helpful but worth the listen anyway . By the way I like my Microns. On idle , nice low rumble(thanks to the enormous connecting tubes) , leading to a growl at revs but not too loud to attract the wrong attention. Easy install, and everything fits(tight) including the rubber thingy to protect the pipe from the centre stand. I have polished aluminum cans , they are SOFT so beware of what you use to give them a nice shine. Enjoy BBB Gord
  19. Just ran out to the garage( pouring rain here) the colourcode is PB-284C Blue 2000
  20. Kilometers CRAP, my ass, you guys(USA) are the only country in the world that dont use the metric system, ( England may be sitting on the fence) come up north and our speed limit is 100 on the highways just to mess up the Yanks
  21. I have a 2000 bird with 37,000 KM , just got the rear tire replaced and checked the rear sprocket, and it is in fine shape and the chain also, still in the green, but have bought a new chain and rear sprocket to have on hand , will buy the fr. sprocket from the dealer stock
  22. add to that 24$ to install the tire from a shop and the sprockets and chain I will install myself BBB
