  1. Yeah LSL. I just never saw anything like that before offered for the birds. I would think it would help you're back on a long ride though. As for the looks, dunno, maybe kinda lame.
  2. I'm not sure what I think, but the kit will definately get you upright... Thoughts?
  3. Another mystery solved. And thanks for screwing up first . I mean posting the issue and resolution . I'm about to order the same filter for my '01. Kneedraggers has the best price on that filter, like $40 bones, right?
  4. Front only lasts for ONE CHAIN ... Oooh geez :icon_shifty:. I never looked at my front sproket Two chains now on the same front sproket. The rear is starting to show signs of wear, but within limits.
  5. I think that was the 16.... Mike Yep, 16T And on this subject. Why isn't anyone changing the rear sproket? I had a 44T on my '97 (dropped a tooth from stock), lowered the rev's just a little. Is changing the front to a 18T a better way to go?
  6. On my '97. I would say that is just the petcock o-ring type gasket to seals the unit in place. my 2 cents... -Obby
  7. Update... down another 3lbs. Thanks for starting this thread Redd!
  8. Sounds like a loose nut behind the wheel to me (sorry, had to say that). Bring it back for Gods sake. That rattle is a common sign of a faulty CCT. Hopefully that is all it is. -Obby
  9. This last pic gave me a woody... :icon_love: Nice work!
  10. What a screwed up day. First, I had a hell of a day at work. Then, a member here get's pissed at me for trying to help him save some money on a sale item I sold him (we worked things out fine though). Then, I finally get the PCIIIUSB for my '01 XX (part # 113-411) that the Technical Sales Manager told me would work, and it didn't fit . Somedays it doesn't pay to get out of bed! -Obby PS. I just wanted to post that the PCIIIUSB will NOT fit a US model '01 XX, period! This info is to protect other owner from believing a Sales Manager at PowerCommander.com read the email for yourself... We have recently looked into this bike and have found that our listing is off. Part #113-411 will work on the 01-06 CBR1100XX. This unit is currently available. Thanks. 11. Helvet I have a PCII and a PCIII installed on my 2002 XX. They just plugged in one in front of the other. I use the PCII for adjustments to the ignition timing and the PCIII for adjustments to the injectors. I'll know in a few days if a PCIII USB works or not. Just scored one off 'you know who' in the For Sale Section. Thanks again DBLXXTC! -Obby
  12. Thanks for the info. Looks like i'm going to have to run the VIN # with Honda to find out for sure.
  13. I can only speak of my '01 (as california models, if i have one, may be different), but on the ECM, it's two large rectangular connections. The wiring harness, on the other side, under the left side of the tank, are round. From what I can tell from the Power Commander website http://www.powercommander.com/maps/install/I113-411.pdf (fig. A and fig. , this is where the PC3 should plug in. And yep, 2001 is when the US models converted to a digi dash. Thanks again, -Obby
  14. LOL, raining here for like 40 days straight. I hear ya.
  15. KANSAS!!! ohhh damn... Doesn't look like you have alot of tight twisties to worry about... Cali rides... http://www.pashnitstore.com/temp/pashnitREDUXmed.wmv I had Bridgestone BT-56/57 combo ( i think ). They lasted, no sh't 10k+.easy... mostly hwy (think I got 15k out of them bald ). I would say, give them a try (IMO). I had them on my '97 when I bought it. They were fine for high speed sweepers, but not so great in 30mph turns (rear drifted a bit).
  16. I think it looks fine, how's it feel? I especially like the XX look on the top of the modded pegs in this pic... Nice looking bird too!
  17. Because FI is GAY and GAY is HOT Ok, this thread is starting to go strange Who's my bitch! :icon_bondage: Ok, now back to your normal programming...
  18. On this subject, as most of the members know, I recently retired my carb'd '97 bird and replaced it with a '01 bird. I've noticed that fan comming on all the time, temp readings at well over 200 degree's when driving in traffic or city, about 180'ish on hwy. Why do these birds run so hot with FI??? Same engine..., strange :icon_duh: PS. It has been well maintained and has 50/50 with water wetter in it.
  19. A PC3 will not fit a 1999/2000 model. The plugs on the harness are all wrong. Also, the one will be placed before the ECU, the other one after the ECU (I forget which one...). In theory Powercommander could make a PC3 for a 1999/2000 model, but since they sell so little they won't bother.... Thanks for the response, maybe I didn't make myself clear though, I have a 2001 model. One way to tell for sure. The ECU is in the early FI models had a connectors and wiring harness. It's also mounted in a different place (according to the manual ). Mine is mounted far back in the tail section, with the harnesses plugging in points pointing towards the rear. It sure looks like the newer ECU to me??? Redbird, you are right, no o2 sensor on the collector. I'm starting to think that this is not a California Model Redbird. I pulled the tank and can't find any emmission crap anywhere. I'm pretty sure what to look for as I removed all that stuff on other bikes. Go figure :icon_think: . The owner that Ray and I bought it off lived on the border between Cali and Nevada, so I guess he could have bought it from someone in Nevada. All the maintenance shop receipts were from there. Mystery Redbird I guess. -Obby Edit: This too funny... after reading schematics from both Honda and the Haynes service manual all day, and ripping it apart all night, I still can't tell if it's a Cali Model or not. This is crazy... the manual in Hayes has the engine #'s listed the exact same (WTF). So did they ever make a Cali model '01 XX? Must have, Cali are crazy for stupid sh't like that. The ECM's schematic for the pre '01's are definatley different. Mine looks like a '01 to me. In any case, I looked where the o2 sensor should be installed, no sign of it anywhere close. No EVAP system signs anywhere (charcoal canister not there is a hint). Must be an out-of-state bird. This is actually good news if it is. Easier to get the HP out of her. She does need some serious tuning, but I'm hopefull that a FI bird can beat/match a carbed bird... Only time and a sh't load of cash will tell. More to come... (don't keep reading if I'm boring you).
  20. After reading the Honda manual, I found something interesting out about the ECM's . They change the ECM after '99 . There are two completely different wiring diagrams for them (harness plugs are different too) . '99 then 'after 99' (pages 20-1 and 20-2). Eureka! I think that PC III USB will fit. I will just need to install a O2 eliminator and I should be good to go (Cali emmissions crap) :icon_pray: . If not, I'll be adding another part to my custom bird sale .

    SICK BIRD

One other thing I just thought of... there are safety switches on the clutch and sidestand. That could be the source of the problem too. Give it a try in neutral with the side stand up and clutch pulled in.
  22. Yep, headshake. My '97 was lowered like 2" in the front. Personally, I loved it, you can toss that bird around like it was a 954 or something. Only under extreme accelleration or braking, a little headshake (not too bad though). I had most of the problems, just like you, behind large trucks... but that's easily fixed with a twist of the wrist .

    SICK BIRD

$75 and a purple windscreen (inside joke). Anyways, FI Light is going off, ok. I would pull the battery power for a few minutes (resetting the ECM), it's worth a shot. The plugs could just be fouled though, it's happened to another member or so here before. Do you have any mod's done? Power Commander, ignition, ect.? When did it last fire up ok? :icon_think:
  24. I would agree about your PC III running the bike to lean. Give those buttons a push and see what happens. BTW - I'm looking for one too. Where did you buy it and for how many $$$?

    SICK BIRD

Confirmed. If the switch is 'good' and in the 'On' position, the FI light should turn off. If not, check what I post the manual suggests. Let us know... -Obby
