  1. In my case the difference was huge... With new exhausts the engine got very nervous.... A little twist with the wrist (like riding over a bump) resulted in big accelleration. It was hard to maintain even speed on bad roads. The PC smoothed that out. Also, the dip at 5500RPM is totally gone! Fuel consumption dropped like 10%, rideability increased, and I gained about 15HP on the rear wheel (including slip-ons and K&N)... With the prices you pay in the USA well worth the money. We pay double, and I still would buy it again...
  2. I use them..... and installing them was a b*tch.... You have a lot of possibilities, therefore you can go all directions. Check out our pictures at: http://bb.superblackbird.info/viewtopic.php?t=95 This will give you a lot of info.... I have the 60mm extension in the upright position, and it almost touches the fairing. I do not use the original windscreen anymore. The original screen will give you more clearance, but the inside fairing will give you a problem when you make a short turn. I also own Helibars and VFR-bars. The Gilles is by far the best.... Why? You can rotate it any direction you want, and bring it back towards you. Drilling a hole for the electrics body is easy. Even if you make a mistake you just turn the grip a little, and you get a second chance. No problem there... However, if you go higher than they advice, you will need longer brake- and clutch-lines, and longer gas-cables. If you turn the U-shaped risers around, you have the problem that they (could) touch the gastank and the hydraulic reservoirs will be in the way.... The bar-end weights I can supply to you if you want. They are sold here in Holland, but I will have to ask for the prices. The big advantage of their weights is since they are the same ineer and outer size of the tube, you can mount your grips (and everything else) more outwards, just like a superbike.... (just need even longer lines). Any more questions?
  3. Thanks for the info, but I guess I wasn't totally clear what I meant... It looks like the vertical bar of the risers is beside the forklegs. There is not much clearance between the forklegs and the inner part (grey) of the fairing. Can this pass there, or is this position not possible?
  4. It looks terrible, but seams to work ok. Don't the risers touch the inside panelling of the fairing on the BB? It is a lot cheaper than the Gilles VarioBar, but they are much more flexible. You can also change the tilting-angle of the bars. These come pre-adjusted....
  5. Also check radiator cap, and check the thermo-switch for the fan. Mine was overheating because the fan started too late.... Because it did start it took us ages to find the problem....
  6. Hopefully someone has a pic of it... they're relatively easy to install? Here you find a picture (scroll down a little) http://bb.superblackbird.info/viewtopic.php?t=20 I buy them from John, and I sell all (other) items all over the world.
  7. Sorry John, I did mean you...... Don't know where my brains were, at the time....
  8. Vista works the same, costs the same, but is not so noticeable on the bike as the Nep (because it is on the bottom, and not the top). Jim sells them.....
  9. We had the same problem here in Holland with one set. Another one (mine) doesn't fit either.... Probably the distance between the holes is wrong, because the forks sticks a lot more now, and doesn't come back.... I will send it back too, if I don't get it to work right..... I think 2 out of 9 bought is not a great score....
  10. The routing-bit is easy. I did that too with a CNC machine..... The problem is getting them smooth, and in a good color. Check out the pics of mine on the link I listed above..... This takes about 30 minutes of work after the milling....
  11. We do the same. Also laser-cutting of stainless steel parts with the XX and CBR-logo. Check out: http://bb.superblackbird.info/viewtopic.php?t=20 If you make any other items, I am interested in selling them for you in Europe.

    Overheating

As I posted earlier on the board (don't remember the link, sorry) I had a big overheating problem with my bike, and had to refill the cooling fluid every half hour (boiling a lot...). The problem turned out to be the sensor that measures the temperature of the cooling fluid. I have a 1999 bike with an analogue dashboard so I could not measure the temperature accurately, but as it turns out the fan just started way too late (just before the boiling point). I don't know about the digital version, but is it possible this sensor for the temperature read-out is the same as the sensor that starts the fan? If this is the case, the bike actually could be running hotter than it appears to be on the read-out.... It is a fairly cheap item to replace.
  13. Same here on a 1999 bike...... I changed the bike and did a 3 seperate Dyno runs.... First run, totally standard (138bhp on rear wheel). Black exhausts. Second, K&N filter and Superpole slip-ons. Same fuel consumption, but bike becomes very lean on low revs. Driveability was less, accelleration was much better (144.3 bhp on rear wheel). Still black exhausts. Third, PC2 added and made a new mapping for it. Fuel consumption about 20% better, driveability much better, but the bike feels slower (154.4 bhp on rear wheel!). Last week I did 310 km with 19 liters including a passenger, 3 Givi cases and a tankbag..... Before I did about 260km..... I notice a much better fuel consumption on the highway (at 160km/h or 100 mph), and even better with a slow ride (my wife being the speed-limiter...).
  14. QOTW!!!!!! I just wouldn't screw the Pilot (unless she's a girl....)
  15. That is very easy..... Check out E-bay worldwide. You have the best chance in Germany or England. If thet will not ship out of Europe, give me a PM and I'll work it out for you. I can look here if you want me to. They are very cheap, and hardly ever sold... I just need to know if you need a set with a choke-lever or not.....
  16. I always knew Europe was far ahead of the USA..... Now you have confimed this for me.... Thanks!
  17. I use the Givi's since 1999. I did have the same wobble (very little, but noticeable) like you describe. Replacing the windscreen cured the problem, it was all aerodynamics. Full throttle with 3 cases and a tankbag on the German Autobahn is not a problem anymore. No wobbles, even at twice the max. speed allowed by Givi.... Overloading the top box can be a problem though.... My wife and I were out riding when she saw a beautifull concrete sheep statue for sale. It just fitted the 45L top box, so we bought it. When I started riding the bike I noticed it was way to heavy. Lots of wheely fun (for me, not for my wife...), and some big wobbles when landing..... Wouldn't do that again.... I don't know how much I was overweight, but if I have to guess it could be 400%....... Unbelievable what abuse these Givi's and the BB are willing to except!
  18. Have you tried going to a dealer with (and I don't know the English word for it) a pneumatic rattler they use for wheelnuts and so on? The vibration will loosen the nut more easily....
  19. No I didn't, but I must say I was driving slower than normal to keep the temperature down. I don't recall a better or a worse fuel-mileage or performance....
  20. I had the exact same problem with my bike, only worse. Mine started overflowing once, and after that a lot. We exchanged radiator cap, thermostat and a bunch of other things. Honda gave up on me after a leak test on the head-gasket. I finally found the problem myself..... Because I didn't want it to overheat this much I bypassed the fan. Now I could use a separate switch to start the fan early. When I did that in time, there was no more problem. This started me thinking, and I checked when the fan should start, and when it did start. I found out my thermometer of the fan was not working correct. The fan did start every time, but too late, causing an overheating and overflow. On the newer bikes this is easier to find, because you know the exact temperature of the cooling fluid. The 1999 model didn't have this readout, and you just had to guess the temperature. Honda sent me a new part (this was the first one they had sold in Europe...), and my problems were over (at least this one...). So check it out, compair with another XX when the fans start.... Good luck!
  21. Today I was in the factory of Superpole exhausts from Holland. They were working on a series of BB-exhausts for the American market. There seems to be an importer for them now, but I don't know who..... In Holland they make very good exhausts, for the lowest price. For example over 50% cheaper than Two Brothers, and 30% cheaper than Blue Flame..... Maybe worth to have a look at? If you guys are interested I can ship them to you. The website is only in Dutch, but if you need translating, give me a buzz.... The pictures speak for themselves.... www.superpole.nl
  22. Are you running the stock exhaust-system? Any other modifications? Did you have the airfilter removed for service? We need more info.....
  23. Now I also have a pair of Heli-Bars in my house. The problem is that we can't get the exact same position back to make these pics.... If we want to do it right, we need to do them all over again......
  24. Hey, give me some credit too..... They are (all) my handlebars.....
  25. Wilbers is the distributor for Hyperpro in Germany. They started producing their own shock not so long ago. They learned from Hyperpro, so it shouldn't be a bad product! And the price is great!
