  1. Here is a pic of what I have right now....still mroe to come like my rearsets and all....everything that isnt gold will be chromed this winter, like my brake calipers and little odds and ends. I like Rickrad's Idea of a darker Silver....not as dark as the titanium bird but darker then the silver one....Bah I have all winter to make up my mind http://public.fotki.com/johnhenley/mecaniq...ique/parts.html
  2. I lowsided the bird into a ditch....I was comming in way too hot on a real bad quality road. Still not sunny outside...I cant wait to send a pic of all the parts I had done sitting in the sunlight. My favorite parts right now are the frame and front forks...they did a real good job on those.
  3. Hello fellow bird owners, I just wanted to update on my project of getting a gold chrome powder coating finish on all my aluminium parts and well here it is! At first I wasn’t satisfied with the result…seeing it indoors and all…but once the sun hits it WOW…. So the picture of the front wheel doesn’t show half the shine it gets in outdoor lighting. Unfortunately its raining today so no sunny pics…. :???: I’m picking up the frame and swing arm tomorrow I’ll make sure to post a picture of all the parts. Now I gotta figure out what color to paint the bird! :?: http://public.fotki.com/johnhenley/mecaniq...ique/wheel.html
  4. I'm meeting up with the guy who's doing my powdercoating this week to make sure he does proper masking to the parts before starting. I should have the first parts next week I'll post pics.
  5. Well thanks for the tips and the eagle eye on spotting that tweek! I guess I'll hit ebay and get another subframe...probably paint it the same color as the bike...whatever thats gonna be...still way undecided!
  6. Hey guys, I've been reading for a while but I'm at that point where I have questions now! hope you dont mind! I have a question…is there a sure fire way of finding out if my sub frame is straight…following my recent offroading experience with my bird. I’m getting everything gold powdercoated and I was gonna do the subframe too (yeah I know overkill) I look at it and it doesn’t seem to be perfectly straight…when I set it down it seems to no sit flush. Can it be tweeked into place once everything is set up or should I just dump it and get a new one (or straight one) Thanks for the info… For those who want to know I’m getting frame, swingarm, engine covers, wheels, forks, all caliper brackets, clip-ons…I could go on I just took the whole shit apart and I’m getting everything powder coated with Tiger Drylacs Mirror silver and then clearcoating with gold tinted super clear. I will post pics once its done…here’s a pic of the mess involuntary offroading caused. http://public.fotki.com/johnhenley/mecaniq.../accident2.html
  7. Hello Gentlemen, I couldn’t help but ‘butt in’ to your polishing conversation. I am presently prepping my bird for a full powdercoating job after a little run in with sand dirt rocks and trees. Most powdercoating companies have come out with what they call ‘superclear’ That’s a very ‘deep’ clear that looks awesome! I’ve seen parts done and they looked great. You can also get these clears in different ‘tints’ …gold, brass, red, blue for that more custom look. There is also a powdercoated color called ‘mirror silver’ (Tiger Drylac) That color is the closest thing to chrome or polish I’ve seen. You add the super clear to that and you get instant chrome (more or less) look! If you want I will post some pictures for you soon. I’m getting my frame, swing arm wheels and everything I could take apart powdercoated with mirror silver and then a gold superclear. Results should be interesting to say the least! Should be done by the end of next week!
